2025 Audi Q8 e-tron Sportback e-tron quattro (20-inch wheels): a mid-pack composite means the records-and-test-drive call matters more than the headline.

Score read

A 71/100 makes this worth comparing, not chasing. Software and driver-assist score is the cleaner read at 100/100; range and efficiency score needs more diligence at 37/100. Reddit threads cluster around owner satisfaction and range — verify both against the service records. A clean VIN lookup matters more than the headline count.

Price context

Bring your own comps Pull current comps before negotiating

This trim started from $78,200 new. Used examples have come down since launch, but pricing varies by miles, condition, and how the model is moving right now; pull a current KBB Fair Purchase, an Edmunds True Market Value, or an active dealer listing for this exact trim, and anchor your offer there. Walk if the seller will not move off new-car-style pricing.

Who this is for

✓ Good for

  • Daily commuter ≤50 mi/day, predictable charging

✗ Avoid if you are a

  • $
Bargain hunter Best TCO, reliability + low depreciation

Gotchas

  • Serviceable Recall paperwork has to match the exact VIN.

Mitigation Use NHTSA and the automaker lookup, then require repair records instead of a verbal promise.

  • Built in Range is the easy place to overbuy this trim (37/100).

Mitigation Check your commute, winter margin, and fast-charge plan before you assume the EPA number fits your use.

  • Verify Current market pricing is not confirmed well enough for this trim.

Mitigation Compare KBB, J.D. Power, and live listings for the same trim before treating price as a buying signal.

Pre-purchase inspection

  • 1 Run the exact VIN through NHTSA and the automaker recall lookup before discussing price.
  • 2 Compare the dashboard range estimate with the EPA 272-mile rating after a full charge.
  • 3 Confirm how much of the 8-year/100,000-mile battery warranty remains and whether it transfers.
  • 4 If road trips matter, run a short DC fast-charge session and watch whether speed tapers normally.
  • 5 Map your normal highway route and winter margin against the EPA range before you treat it as a road-trip car.

The Financing Room · What Actually Happens

Dealers make ~$17,429 on the average car loan.

After the price is set, the finance manager runs four plays to rebuild margin. Every buyer without a pre-approval is a target. Here's exactly what they run — and what stops each one.

01 · Without pre-approval
+$2,554
Rate markup

78% of dealer loans carry a hidden +1.13% markup above what the lender actually charges. You never see it — it's buried in the contract. · CFPB

With pre-approval ↓
Rate is already locked

Dealer must match or beat your lender — they can't add margin invisibly. The markup play is dead on arrival.

02 · Without pre-approval
+$1,800
"What's your monthly budget?"

Once you answer, they stretch the term to hit your number. Median result: $4K less off the price, 12 more months on the loan. · Industry avg

One number to negotiate

Financing is done. Only the sale price is on the table — and the dealer knows it.

03 · Without pre-approval

GAP + extended warranty upsell

Back-office F&I profit averages $1,975/vehicle, up 8.5% YoY. These products exist — but dealer markup is 4–10x what you'd pay elsewhere. · Dealership Guy

You can shop it or skip it

Dealer GAP runs $500–1K. Your insurer sells the same coverage for $100–250 over 5 years. Now you know.

Yo-yo / spot delivery

"Your loan fell through — come re-sign." This pulls your APR up +5% on average. It's legal. It works because you've already driven the car home. · Ctr for Responsible Lending

Financing already closed

A lender commitment letter means the deal is final. "Pending dealer approval" doesn't apply. You can't be yo-yo'd.

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2019-2026 vehicles. Please see the recall report for a complete list of models. A software error may prevent the rearview camera image from displaying as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

A rearview image that does not display reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

The contact owns a 2025 Audi Q8. The contact stated that while driving at 25-30 MPH, she crashed into the rear of a pick-up truck towing a boat on a trailer. The contact did not notice that the vehicle in front was coming from a stop, which caused the accident. During the crash, the engine of the boat detached, causing damage. The contact was concerned that the Audi Pre Sense Front Braking feature failed to engage, which could have prevented a crash. The air bags did not deploy. The contact did not sustain any injuries. No medical attention was required. The insurance company was notified of the incident, and the inspection was pending. A dealer was contacted and was informed to call the manufacturer. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 11,700.

I am writing to formally document an urgent and ongoing safety issue with my new Audi Q8 (VIN [XXX] rrently has fewer than 1,100miles. On my recent visit to my local Audi authorized dealer's service department (Tuesday, 4/21/2026), I brought the vehicle in for a “central lock malfunction” warning and was advised that the issue had been resolved. However, the next morning the same error reappeared. This warning has been present intermittently, beginning the day I purchased the vehicle at 0 miles. More critically, this malfunction is affecting the driver-side door’s ability to open from the inside. On multiple occasions, I have been unable to exit the vehicle without repeated attempts. This presents a serious safety concern, as it temporarily prevents me from exiting the vehicle in a normal and timely manner. Given the nature of this issue, I want to clearly document that: - This is a safety-related defect impacting my ability to exit the vehicle - The issue was not resolved after the initial repair attempt - The problem has reoccurred immediately INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

"~2 years in the Twin Cities here with my ‘24 Q8 e-tron. My commute is ~25 miles each way, 3-4 times per week. I charge at home with a level 2 charger. I basically just charge it nightly whether it needs it or not and leave it capped at 80% unless I’m planning a longer trip or know I’ll need to drive a few days without easy access to a charger. The range drop is real but hasn’t been as bad for me as others report, probably more like 25% loss. But I’m parking in a heated garage at night and the ramp at work is underground and stays around 50F even in the winter. Preconditioning helps. The biggest “aha” for me was realizing how much range can be affected by running the heater, heated seats, defrosters, etc. It hasn’t ever caused me any range issues, it’s just interesting to see the effect. I haven’t really experienced any range anxiety, even in the winter. There just aren’t many/any situations where I need to go 200 miles in a single drive with it (and we have a Q5e PHEV for longer drives if needed). Overall, it’s been a game changer driving an EV for my daily commute needs. I can never go back to needing gas on a regular basis. My lease will be up in a year and I’ll definitely buy an EV for long term ownership then. My complaints are more about the software in current gen Audis than anything specific to EVs. So, I’ll probably shop around a bit before deciding on a brand. Oh, and be sure to get snow tires for the winter!"

"it’s not garage kept. Local driving. I have no idea how to figure out the consumption rate. I have a charger at my house #9· Feb 24, 2025 #4· Feb 23, 2025 My Q8 etron loaner is getting 210 or so at 80% in mild weather. In cold more like 170. 120 something is wrong #5· Feb 23, 2025 I've read where 180-200 at 80% is common in winter but 122 is just garbage unless it is like -20 all the time. The problem in this case would be ridiculously false advertising. Can you try taking to another dealer. #6· Feb 23, 2025 That’s what I was thinking. Ridiculous. I think that’s my next move is to take it to another dealer."

"Hi All, I'm new to this forum. I bought my car back in May 2024. Audi promotes the Q8 getting 285 miles at 100%. At 80%, that's 228 miles for a full 80% charge. When I charge my car at a full 80%, I'm getting 122 at 80%. I took it to the dealership and they said there is nothing wrong but they did charge it to get to the 80% and it was at 122. They documented it and I spoke to HQ and they said they can't do anything. They don't see it being a problem. This was a $92K car and Audi HQ is throwing their hands up in the air and pretty much saying, not our fault, we can't help you. I get it, weather has a factor and I live outside of Philly, PA and January and February were extremely cold but this is ridiculous. Anyone else seeing an issue here or having the same issue? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. PS, I had a Tesla Model S for 3 years so I'm very familiar with the electric car world. Thanks John #1· Feb 23, 2025"

"Q8 e-tron weather mats Hello, I am the owner of a 2024 Q8 etron and I am in need of all weather mats for my vehicle. I'm looking for floor mats for my Audi Q8 e-tron, but I'm struggling to find the correct size. I noticed that Audi sells liners specifically for the Q8 e-tron, but the price is outrageous—$210 for a single mat! Link: Does anyone know if the regular Q8 mats fit the Q8 e-tron? I've had trouble finding properly fitting mats on Amazon, which is why I'm considering buying directly from Audi. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! NOTES: If any1 is stumbling upon this post in the future, this is key to note: 1. Majority of floor mats you can buy off ebay and amazon will NOT fit. Even if they EXPLICITLY say for Q8 e-tron 2024. If you do wish to purchase thru this method, plz msg sellers to verify that it will indeed fit and the return policy allows for free returns. This is becuz this is a low volume product, many sellers from Turkey do not know the difference and do not care (cost them like 10$ to make a mat they sell for \~100$). 2. If you are shopping around, try different Audi Dealerships in countries. Audi Rockville has the cheapest prices (all around) from what I have seen, although you have to pay for shipping. AVOID Audi Henderson at all costs, their prices are absurd, 100-200% HIGHER than other shops for the same product. 3. I am not 100%, but I be"
