The 2025 Cadillac LYRIQ AWD (19 kW Charger) is rated at 515 hp, 303 miles of EPA range and a 100 kWh battery, and a mid-pack composite means the records-and-test-drive call matters more than the headline.

A 71/100 makes this worth comparing, not chasing. The useful split is software and driver-assist score at 82/100 versus owner feedback score at 57/100. Reddit threads cluster around owner satisfaction and range — verify both against the service records. If the seller cannot show recall completion, price that risk or move on.

Gotchas
- Serviceable Recall paperwork has to match the exact VIN.
Mitigation Use NHTSA and the automaker lookup, then require repair records instead of a verbal promise.
- Verify Owner feedback is the part to read carefully (57/100).
Mitigation Read the complaint themes and ask whether this VIN has already had those issues repaired.
- Verify Current market pricing is not confirmed well enough for this trim.
Mitigation Compare KBB, J.D. Power, and live listings for the same trim before treating price as a buying signal.
Pre-purchase inspection
- 1 Run the exact VIN through NHTSA and the automaker recall lookup before discussing price.
- 2 Compare the dashboard range estimate with the EPA 303-mile rating after a full charge.
- 3 Confirm how much of the 8-year/100,000-mile battery warranty remains and whether it transfers.
- 4 If road trips matter, run a short DC fast-charge session and watch whether speed tapers normally.
- 5 Read the complaint themes, not just the count, and ask the seller whether those issues have shown up on this VIN.
VIN status first This model has 3 NHTSA recall records. The exact VIN lookup decides whether the car in front of you is clear.

Dealers make ~$14,600 on the average car loan.
After the price is set, the finance manager runs four plays to rebuild margin. Every buyer without a pre-approval is a target. Here's exactly what they run — and what stops each one.
78% of dealer loans carry a hidden +1.13% markup above what the lender actually charges. You never see it — it's buried in the contract. · CFPB
Dealer must match or beat your lender — they can't add margin invisibly. The markup play is dead on arrival.
Once you answer, they stretch the term to hit your number. Median result: $4K less off the price, 12 more months on the loan. · Industry avg
Financing is done. Only the sale price is on the table — and the dealer knows it.
Back-office F&I profit averages $1,975/vehicle, up 8.5% YoY. These products exist — but dealer markup is 4–10x what you'd pay elsewhere. · Dealership Guy
Dealer GAP runs $500–1K. Your insurer sells the same coverage for $100–250 over 5 years. Now you know.
"Your loan fell through — come re-sign." This pulls your APR up +5% on average. It's legal. It works because you've already driven the car home. · Ctr for Responsible Lending
A lender commitment letter means the deal is final. "Pending dealer approval" doesn't apply. You can't be yo-yo'd.
That's 16 months of your car payment — handed to the dealer's finance department for nothing.
Takes 2 minutes. No obligation to use it — but you'll walk in with all the leverage.
Pre-approval is a soft credit inquiry — no score impact. FICO treats all auto-loan hard pulls within 14 days as one, so you can still shop rates at the dealer.

I was in a public parking lot and slowly approached a parking space in front of a store. When I applied the brakes to stop in the space, the car did not respond, it continued to drive forward, up the curb, crashed through the store front, and eventually came to rest mid-way in the store, amidst the furniture and store structure.

I was driving about 40 MPH, message popped "camera blocked, clean front windshield" I did and the message cleared. A few minutes later it came back so I cleaned the windshield again. What happened next shocked me. Without any warning while traveling 30 mph the automatic braking system came on and stopped the car quickly. Thank God for my seatbelt! My backpack that was in the back seat came flying to the front. No warning at all! I called the dealer and brought the car t them. They told me they need to load new software in the car that would take 5-6 hrs. They did the software and told me that it should be all set now. I picked up the car and drove it home. A few days later an incident more alarming happened! I was at a traffic light, car stopped and auto hold when suddenly the car accelerated on its own. I pumped the break several times and the car eventually stopped. I was terrified. I called the dealer and brought the car there the next morning. Dropped it of Saturday morning. I call Monday afternoon and spoke with the service person and he told me they could not replicate what happened and that there were no bulletins from Cadillac. I asked how they tested it and he told me they took it for a ride and also looked for any errors recorded in the cars memory. I said it happened to me once in 2 days so taking it for a short ride will not necessarily repeat what happened. He said they will hold the car and look at a few more things today. I just spoke to the dealer and they told me they drove the car for 15 minutes and found no issues. They also said they are looking for any bulletins on the car. Not sure what the outcome will be but these 2 incidents could have both been very ugly and people could have gotten very hurt. I ask myself...should I be driving this car!

I am writing to report a series of alarming incidents involving my 2025 Cadillac, purchased on December 2, 2024. Within three months of ownership, I have experienced three separate occurrences that have caused me significant concern and physical distress. 1 Approximately two weeks after purchasing the vehicle, I was stopped at a red light. When the light turned green, I pressed the Pedal. Within three- 4 seconds, I felt a sudden impact from the rear, as if I had been rear-ended. However, upon inspection, there was no visible damage to my car, and the vehicle behind me was approximately 10 feet away. This incident was both confusing and distressing. 2 On a separate occasion, under similar circumstances, I was stationary at a red light. Upon the light turning green, I began to accelerate and once again experienced a sudden, forceful jolt from the rear. No vehicle was in close proximity behind me, yet the sensation was akin to a severe rear-end collision. The jolt was significant enough to cause me considerable alarm. 3 The most recent and concerning event occurred on the evening of February 24, 2025, around 8:00 PM. I was reversing out of a parking spot at a supermarket. Within seconds of shifting into reverse and beginning to back up, I felt an intense impact, as though a vehicle traveling at high speed had collided with the rear of my car. The force was so substantial that I was convinced a serious accident had occurred. However, upon exiting the vehicle, I found no other cars in the vicinity and no visible damage to my vehicle. Medical Following these incidents, I began experiencing severe neck pain. The discomfort persisted and intensified over the course of a week. On the morning of February 25, 2025, I sought medical attention due to the escalating pain. At the hospital, XR cervical spine was performed, and I have been advised to pursue follow-up consultations with specialists. There needs to be an investigation into these Occurrences.

Car has been asleep after parking and will not wake up leaving all electrical components dead. GM has not been able to repair and unfortunately this has occurred 5 times including twice the month of March, 2026. Having a car parked in an unsafe location and not being able to move it very unsettling. After 30-60 minutes the car will start back up and operate normally.

My car is equipped with a forward-facing camera, mounted on the forward area of the interior rearview mirror. Additional cameras are mounted on the front bumper, trunk door, and on the rearview mirrors on each side of the car. Various sensors mounted throughout both bumpers face the front, rear, and each side of the car. At the time of this incident all sensors and cameras were clean and free of obstructions, and software was up to date. I was driving uphill, negotiating a tight left curve at approximately 30 MPH in a rural, forested area in the Santa Cruz Mountains (California.) There were no other conveyances, objects, or obstruction on the roadway in front or behind me. The weather was clear and the daytime visibility was excellent. The road was dry and I estimate its gradient at 30%. As I was about to enter the curve, the vertical dirt hillside appeared ahead and directly in front of the forward-facing cameras and sensors, which I supose, detected this topography. With minimal pressure, I had my right foot on the throttle to keep the aforementioned speed while turning. The cruise control was not in use. As I began to turn, and while still facing the hillside, the throttle stopped responding and the car decelerated. Simultaneously, a warning appeared on my dashboard screen, indicating the forward collision warning system was unavailable. I fully depressed the throtle but instead of gaining speed, the car slowed down to 12 MPH as I completed the turn. In quick succession, I lifted my right foot of the throtle and depressed it all the way to the floorboard but the car did not accelerate. The car eventually regained forward acceleration when I had the throttle pedal all the way against the floorboard but despite this severe throttle application, the car only accelerated very slowly. Thereafter, the throtle resumed normal operation and I continued my trip over the hills and back. I believe I could have been rear ended during this scary incident.

Telematics module failed and the vehicle couldn’t connect to emergency OnStar services if involved in crash. GPS also doesn’t work with a faulty module. No cellular or WiFi connectivity. Car reroutes to somewhere without this module working. I’m paying for the OnStar subscription but with a faulty module it can’t connect. GM says part back ordered with no ETA. Thousands of people are reporting the same problem and it should be a recall at this point.

Sudden Acceleration. -I was driving on a highway. I accelerated to pass a truck and when I took my foot off the accelerator the car continued to gain acceleration. The gas pedal had returned to a normal position but the car was still accelerating. I had to put full force on the brakes to get the car to stop. One of my passengers noted that there were flames around one of the brakes. I turned the car off and we waited approximately 45 minutes for the brakes to cool enough to proceed without further incident.

The infotainment screen automatically adjusts its brightness based on readings from the ambient light sensor. However, during dusk and dawn, while conditions still appear relatively bright to the human eye, the sensor interprets the light levels as low and significantly dims the screen. As a result, the display can become so dark that it is nearly unreadable. This issue occurs even when the brightness control wheel is set to its maximum setting. The light sensor overrides the manual brightness adjustment, and the control wheel can only further reduce the brightness, not increase it. GM should provide an option to disable automatic brightness adjustment, or update the auto-brightness algorithm to prevent the screen from dimming excessively under such conditions.

I purchased the 2025 Lyriq new on May 11, 2025. On May 30th with 5400 miles on the car, the front right wheel tie rod snapped off while driving causing the wheel to turn sideways. I was making a turn on a secondary sheet when it happened and was able to pull to the side of the road. Had I been driving on the highway at the time, I could have been killed or hurt another driver. I had the car towed to MacMulkin Cadillac on June 1. The dealership noted that it was bad welding and the car showed rust and rot in that area. It will be 30 days this Monday and no one from GM has been out to investigate.

What Owners Are Saying
"I love my 25 Lyriq. The sound system is just fine for my rock hardened ears. I’ve had no problem with software, the fit and finish is great, no issues. As far as ride, maybe a bit stiff but that could be due to the run flat tires. Exceptional acceleration. I am looking forward to my next one👍🏻"
"Just traded my 2020 Tesla Model Y for a 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ I know someone out there is in the market for a used Tesla Model Y and might find this helpful so I wanted to share my experience...and ultimately why I traded my Model Y in for a 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ RWD Luxury 1 package (no super cruise). First of all, the Model Y is a great compact SUV. The things I loved most about mine were: 1) Its size and use of space- The frunk is huge, the sub trunk I could fit a Yeti 35 cooler under, the trunk space was solid, and my leg room in the front and back seats was as good as any vehicle in its class (I am 6 foot 5 so it matters) 2) The driving experience- Double edge sword coming here. This car was QUICK, loved that. The suspension Tesla used here has changed in recent year and for good reason, you could feel every little bump which sucked for daily driving in a city where potholes and road imperfections are abundant. Again, if you get a newer year or non performance Tesla, you will have a different experience. That being said, if I was trying to whip the car around and have fun with it, feeling every inch of the road was great. 3) The sound system- One of the best I have ever heard stock from the factory. 4) Customization- So many 3rd party accessories if you want to take your Model Y and add onto it since it comes so similar to everyone else's from the factory 5) The charging exprience- This is by far the most important thing for most people considering buying an EV. The Tesla super charging network is by far the best and it's not even close. They are extremely reliable, can't say the same for the non Tesla Superchargers out there (see below) 6) Full Self Driving- It really is incredible how much it has progressed. I am still skeptical it will ever be level 3 or level 4, but it's very useful. Be careful though because it still makes mistakes. So why did I trade my beloved Tesla Model Y in for a Cadillac LYRIQ? 1) Ride quality/Cabin Noise- I mostly bought my Model Y Performance because I got a great deal on it and wanted a Tesla SUV. I didn't need the performance aspect of the car and consistently wished I didn't hear so much road noise (which Tesla has improved in newer models) and feeling the road. The Lyriq is as insulated from road noise as any car I have ever heard and despite it not having an air ride suspension, you can barely feel the road when you hit anything. 2) The Touchscreen- I know, this is going to be extremely controversial and it comes down to preference. I really like the design of the LYRIQs screen and it having built in Android as well as Apple CarPlay. The performance of the UI is much better than my Model Y was, I am sure the newer Model Ys are quicker than mine, but I didn't need things like Netflix etc and preferred the layout of the Cadillac. 3) Luxury materials- The Lyriq feels like luxury, the Model Y is a minimalist premium car. The materials are no nicer than what you would find in a high trim Camry"
"2024 Lyriq Sport 2 completely lost power while driving I leased a 2024 AWD Lyriq Sport 2 that was a previous loaner vehicle in February. The car currently has about 3000 miles on it, so it’s brand new. There have been some minor issues here and there, but turning the car off and then on again seems to resolve things. However, yesterday was a nightmare. I took my friend and her four-year-old son to the aquarium in Baltimore and as we were leaving the garage, the car jolted, slammed the brakes and just lost power completely. I couldn’t put the hazards on, or even put it in neutral to get it out of the path of traffic. We were stuck there for four hours and OnStar was no help at all. They couldn’t find a tow truck small enough to fit in a parking garage. I called several Cadillac dealers but they couldn’t tell me how to override to get the car into neutral and their service departments were closed till Monday so there was no one there to advise what to do. The parking attendant at the garage ended up giving us the number of a tow company they work with that can fit in the garage and we were finally about to get the car out. The fire department ended up coming out and one of them told me this is a known issue with the Lyriq just losing power suddenly with no recourse. I asked him if this could have happened while driving on the highway and he said yet. This makes me extremely nervous to trust this car again even if Cadillac “fixes” the issue. Prior to this I loved the car so this is very upsetting. Has anyone dealt with an issue like this? At this point I’m thinking I want to get out of the lease completely because of how dangerous this could have been had we been somewhere other than a parking garage. FINAL UPDATE 5/21/25 I picked up the car yesterday after having a call with both the EV concierge and the service advisor. The issue was a wire that had been improperly routed from the factory that was rubbing against the steering shaft. The sound I heard was the wire snapping. Both the dealer and EV concierge assured me my particular car is not part of a recall and everything had been checked over and corrected and this won’t happen again. I sincerely hope that’s true, but only time will tell. UPDATE 5/14/25: I spoke to the service advisor yesterday (after I called him, he never calls me) and he said they discovered it was an electrical wire rubbing against the steering shaft that popped (that was the sound I heard when turning the wheel). He said it should be fixed as soon as today, and I said how do I know this won’t happen again as it was very dangerous. He didn’t have an answer for me, but just said “this is very unusual”. I don’t know what to do at this point. I’m scared it can happen again but it appears I’m stuck with this car for now. GM denied my buy back request because it “hasn’t been in service long enough”. UPDATE: I found this on Consumer Reports’ website. If this is true, it would explain why the car was suddenly making a scrapi"
"My 2025 Cadillac Lyriq is falling apart with glitches - anyone else fed up? So I've had my 2025 Lyriq AWD Luxury 1 for a while now, and until a few weeks ago I *loved* it. Smooth, quiet, and lovely ride. But lately, it's turning into a buggy, frustrating mess. * **Internet/GPS nightmare:** The car's internet connection keeps flipping on and off whenever it feels like it. As soon as CarPlay/Android Auto and hotspot via my phone aren't connected, the GPS goes nuts and shows random locations (sometimes even over lake Washington!). The OnStar plan was already included, so why is this even happening? And after a recent service center "fix", the internet connection is now officially off all the time. The app is now of no use to me because I can never get it to connect to my car. * **Service center "fix":** Took it in, they told me it was fixed. Spoiler: it wasn't - in fact, they worsened the situation. When I pointed it out, the service rep basically shrugged and told me to go back to OnStar and rebook another appointment. OnStar tried some troubleshooting (like turning on 'Share Hotspot Data') but that setting doesn't even switch on. Their advice? Yep, "take it back to service". * **Service broke something ELSE:** And now the Auto Hold is busted. When Auto Hold kicks in, the car rocks back and forth like it can't decide if it wants to stop or roll away. Then when I accelerate, it jerks forward like a stubborn mule. This wasn't happening before service touched it. * **Phantom detection issue:** The car also randomly detects something that isn't there, and the seat vibrates like crazy. Service told me Cadillac is "recalibrating their sensors". Whatever that means, it clearly isn't working. I guess I should be glad it doesn't slam on the parking brake by itself. I swear, every week with this car is a *new* problem. Cadillac keeps pushing updates and instead of improving things, it's just breaking more features. I was recommending the Lyriq to friends and family a month ago - now I wouldn't recommend Cadillac's EVs to anyone. Has anyone else had issues like this - internet/GPS dying, Auto Hold acting drunk, phantom detections, features randomly breaking after "service fixes" and Cadillac updates? At this point I just want my car back in the condition it was *before* Cadillac tried to "fix" it via service and updates. I've seen posts where folks are facing this/some other problem. Honestly, GM seems totally deaf to what owners are going through."
"I just talked to the service department. He said he’s never heard of this happening which I find kind of hard to believe. I told him about the upcoming recall. They’re at least giving me a loaner and I said I definitely don’t want a Lyriq as a loaner!"
"Is Lyriq winter range worse than expected? I analyzed 30 different Lyriqs in cold weather and they aren't maintaining range in freezing temps like similar EVs with heat pumps. Is this something you're seeing too? (Raw data export, y-axis is % of max observed real range so diff than EPA range)"
