2025 Lucid Air Touring AWD with 20-inch wheels: the score gets it into the conversation; battery and service records decide whether to make an offer.
Score read
A 73/100 makes this good enough to inspect, not good enough to skip diligence. Software and driver-assist score is the cleaner read at 100/100; owner feedback score needs more diligence at 47/100. Owners on Reddit repeatedly cite owner satisfaction and software tech as recurring problems. A clean VIN lookup matters more than the headline count.
Price context
The original sticker was $78,900. Used pricing varies by miles, condition, and how this model is moving in the market; pull a current KBB Fair Purchase or Edmunds True Market Value for this exact trim and anchor your offer there, not the sticker.

- $ Bargain hunter Best TCO, reliability + low depreciation
Gotchas
- Serviceable Recall paperwork has to match the exact VIN.
Mitigation Use NHTSA and the automaker lookup, then require repair records instead of a verbal promise.
- Verify Owner feedback is the part to read carefully (47/100).
Mitigation Read the complaint themes and ask whether this VIN has already had those issues repaired.
- Verify Current market pricing is not confirmed well enough for this trim.
Mitigation Compare KBB, J.D. Power, and live listings for the same trim before treating price as a buying signal.
Pre-purchase inspection
- 1 Run the exact VIN through NHTSA and the automaker recall lookup before discussing price.
- 2 Compare the dashboard range estimate with the EPA 377-mile rating after a full charge.
- 3 Confirm how much of the 8-year/100,000-mile battery warranty remains and whether it transfers.
- 4 If road trips matter, run a short DC fast-charge session and watch whether speed tapers normally.
- 5 Read the complaint themes, not just the count, and ask the seller whether those issues have shown up on this VIN.
VIN status first This model has 5 NHTSA recall records. The exact VIN lookup decides whether the car in front of you is clear.

Dealers make ~$16,574 on the average car loan.
After the price is set, the finance manager runs four plays to rebuild margin. Every buyer without a pre-approval is a target. Here's exactly what they run — and what stops each one.
78% of dealer loans carry a hidden +1.13% markup above what the lender actually charges. You never see it — it's buried in the contract. · CFPB
Dealer must match or beat your lender — they can't add margin invisibly. The markup play is dead on arrival.
Once you answer, they stretch the term to hit your number. Median result: $4K less off the price, 12 more months on the loan. · Industry avg
Financing is done. Only the sale price is on the table — and the dealer knows it.
Back-office F&I profit averages $1,975/vehicle, up 8.5% YoY. These products exist — but dealer markup is 4–10x what you'd pay elsewhere. · Dealership Guy
Dealer GAP runs $500–1K. Your insurer sells the same coverage for $100–250 over 5 years. Now you know.
"Your loan fell through — come re-sign." This pulls your APR up +5% on average. It's legal. It works because you've already driven the car home. · Ctr for Responsible Lending
A lender commitment letter means the deal is final. "Pending dealer approval" doesn't apply. You can't be yo-yo'd.
That's 16 months of your car payment — handed to the dealer's finance department for nothing.
Takes 2 minutes. No obligation to use it — but you'll walk in with all the leverage.
Pre-approval is a soft credit inquiry — no score impact. FICO treats all auto-loan hard pulls within 14 days as one, so you can still shop rates at the dealer.

I am reporting a safety concern involving the airbag system of my 2025 Lucid Air (VIN: [XXX] ). I brought the vehicle to Lucid’s Tysons, VA service center due to a thumping sensation in the steering wheel while turning. On [XXX] Lucid diagnosed the issue as internal play in the bracket that mounts the driver airbag. Instead of replacing the bracket or steering wheel assembly, the technician applied “sound dampening tape” to eliminate movement and reinstalled the original parts. This raises serious concerns about compliance with FMVSS 208, which governs airbag performance and crash safety. A loose or shifting airbag bracket could compromise airbag deployment direction or timing. The use of adhesive tape to correct physical bracket play in a federally regulated safety system appears to be a non-standard and potentially non-compliant repair method. Lucid has provided no documentation confirming that this repair method was approved by their engineering team or validated against crashworthiness standards. As a consumer, I am concerned about the long-term integrity of the Supplemental Restraint System and the potential risk of injury in a collision. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether this type of repair complies with federal safety requirements. I was stopped at a traffic light, two or three cars behind the line. My car was in Auto-Hold mode, with my foot resting lightly on the brake. I briefly turned my head to move a jacket from the center console to the passenger seat when, without warning, the car suddenly accelerated on its own. I panicked and slammed on the brakes, but given the short distance, my car rear-ended the one in front of me, which then hit the car ahead of it. Both my vehicle and the one directly in front sustained significant damage. Thankfully, as far as I know, nobody sustained serious injuries at the time. What’s most concerning is that my car, equipped with the latest safety features—frontal collision prevention, automatic emergency braking, and Traffic Drive Alert—did not issue any warnings or intervene. I reported the incident to Lucid Motors and even reached out to the CEO, who initially responded. Their engineering team reviewed the telemetry and dismissed the incident as “pedal confusion.” As a driver with over 30 years of experience across gas and electric vehicles, I find that explanation hard to accept. I requested a written report or access to the raw telemetry data, but they refused. Follow-up emails to the CEO have gone unanswered. A few weeks prior to the accident, the car unexpectedly surged forward during a left turn but corrected itself when I lifted off the accelerator. I assumed it was a one-time glitch—until the more serious incident occurred. Recently, I came across a recall (reported 3/27/2025) related to floor mats potentially causing unintentional acceleration which Lucid must have known but did not acknowledge to me. It appears, my vehicle was not included in this recall. I fear there may be a deeper issue—possibly with the engine or battery system. I’ve attached the police report and am requesting that a formal investigation be opened. Online forums reveal multiple similar incidents. This may be a serious safety concern that needs your urgent attention.

I recently purchased a car with a salvage title that has been rebuilt and deemed road worthy. I then contacted the manufacturer to enquire about any recall issues and they indicated that there were two recalls to inspect the a part of the drive train and brakes. However, they indicated that they will not inspect the recall until I pay them $15,000 to recertify the car. It is my understanding that warranty issues and recall issues are different.

The Lucid drive assist feature gets confused by lane splitting motorcycles in California. This incident has occurred to me multiple times, including most recently today. I drive in the high occupancy vehicle Lane, and during rush hour in the evening commute the left lane drives at somewhere between 20 to 30 mph. Lane splitting motorcycles are able to go slightly faster than that, at around 30 to 40 mph. When Elaine's splitting motorcycle passes between my car and the next one over, the drive assist feature gets confused as the motorcycle moves further away from the front of the car. The drive assist feature thinks that traffic has cleared, and the car begins to lunch forward at a high speed. I have to intervene to prevent my car from crashing into the car immediately in front of it, which is still moving at a much slower speed.

Driver assist Dream Drive Pro does not work. I have contacted the service center and called a dozen times and I’m told to wait for a software update. But this feature does not work and others have complained on social media. Example driving South bound 101 number one lane, Driver assist mode car on...car drifts across yellow line towards the side wall. You even hear the lane departure alarm, second time went into other lane almost into another car in left lane on a turn.

Myself and numerous other Lucid Air drivers of all different trim levels are unable to reliably shift out of park and into drive or reverse when entering our cars. This problem has gotten worse with a recent software update and Lucid seems to be acting slowly to fix it. It is a very dangerous thing to have a car that cannot be moved into drive or reverse when needed. Moving the stalk up or down does nothing. Sometimes in 10 to 20 seconds, or sometimes after a few minutes the car will full “turn on” and say “ready” and allow us to finally leave park and go to drive or reverse. This is insane. People can die.

I picked up my vehicle from the Lucid distribution center on [XXX]. On [XXX] was driving back home on [XXX] having driven approximately 166.2 mile when the vehicle issue a drive system fault warning, lost power with a dashboard message also stating to pull over and call customer care. Fortunately I was in the right lane with moderate traffic and was able to safely maneuver out of traffic and off the highway. The vehicle issue a drive scheduled to be picked up and transported back to the distribution/service center in Roswell GA within the next day or two. I will not have any additional information from the dealership until they inspect/examine the vehicle and any digital logs it might contain. A google search of the warning message reflects this appears to have been reported to Lucid previously and I’m assuming Lucid has reported the occurrences to the NHTSA. I’m making this submission to make sure the NHTSA has an accounting of what appears to be a continuation of a safety hazard that was supposedly remedied. The car's phone connectivity is always an issue. The car locks when the phone is right next to it, for example, if you put kids or groceries in the back seat then it locks before you get to the front door. This is very annoying, but what makes it a safety issue is that when the door locks, the kids are unable to open it. This has happened multiple times, leaving my kids panicked and trapped. I looked into it online and there are entire reddit threads about it, with the solution being that you just have to push really hard, but this is not possible for kids! It also happened the other day when I let my [XXX] daughter take my phone to get something from the car, and the car forgot the phone connection and locked her inside and again, she was unable to open the door. Thankfully I was just a minute behind her. [XXX] / [XXX] [XXX]INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

On 6 February 2026 on or about 1410 hours I was traveling west on Ledbetter Blvd., Dallas, TX. Our pool into a restaurant driveway to purchase food in upon parking. I noticed a long line going from north to south on the driver side windshield of my Lucid air 2025. I inspected the windshield and I did not notice any major visible impact to the windshield although there was a very microscopic incision on the outside window surface. I contacted Lucid customer care and Lucid customer care had a technician to come and inspect the windshield. The technician stated he noticed a very very small impact to the windshield that you could not notice with the naked eye I stated to the Lucid technician, I strongly believe that the windshield has a defect because with an impact such as what he described in my opinion should have never caused the damage to the front windshield that it did. I informed the Lucid technician that I will be filing a complaint with the national highway, and transportation administration for pertaining to this windshield incident on my Lucid air..

UNKNOWN. I leased a 2025 Lucid Air on June 19, 2025, and quickly began to experience a sense of inner ear fullness and dizziness from driving the vehicle that often lasts for days. I immediately notified Lucid, but the company did not attempt a repair or suggest measures to address the issue. Instead, the company said that I was on my own and stopped responding. I suspect that the issue is rooted in the high- or low-frequency sounds that the EV makes, but I don't know for certain. In any case, Lucid has left me with a $30,000+ lease for a vehicle I can't drive without becoming sick.

What Owners Are Saying
"Great Service Experience (King of Prussia, PA) *Executive Summary* * Fantastic service experience for an unexpected issue, everything was smooth and free with outstanding customer service all the way. * Soooo happy to get back to the Air after driving the Audi, which was inferior in so many ways. Granted it's half the price of the Air, but...yeccch. * Air was returned to me not only well-repaired, but washed and cleaned both inside and out. *TL;DR Version* My experience with the King of Prussia (KofP) location for both Sales (December 2025) and Service was stellar. My 2026 Air Touring has been working great for the past few months, but as I was heading out on a road trip on Friday at 3pm, it suddenly started losing power for a second, then regaining it, then losing it again, and acting similarly weird during regen braking. It reminded me of when I almost ran out of gas one time in my good old '96 Toyota Supra, kind of like a "bucking" sensation. I could reboot the Air and it would be good...until I accelerated quickly or got up above 70, then the issue was triggered and persisted until the next reboot. No errors showed anywhere though. I called Lucid national support and they ran me through the stuff that I'd already done, and then recommended that I take it to service. They asked if I could safely drive to King of Prussia and I said yep, since I was only about a half-hour away and as long as I kept it below 70 and didn't floor it, it was fine (although he said that if I doubted that, or experienced any issues on the way there, to pull over in a safe spot and they'd s"
"Glad it was fun and a good experience for all. It is that word of mouth that will get the brand out to more people. I have had similar very positive experiences from everyone that gets in my Air GT. They just haven't heard of Lucid but are blown away when they get in it and take a ride. Thanks for sharing."
"Roadtrip with My Motorhead Nephew So last week my nephew and his wife came down to visit us in the Carolinas. Nephew Tom is a dyed-in-the-wool car fan and self-proclaimed motorhead. He's the kind of guy who can look at a classic car and tell you the make, model, and what year it came out, based on things like trim pieces and tail lights. Tom has a love of American muscle cars, but is also pretty clear eyed about their limitations. Tom was a fuel hauler back in the day and now teaches semi drivers how to do it safely. Tom has been EV curious ever since we told him we were expecting delivery of the Lucid Gravity in December. Well... last week Tom got a chance to ride in it for a few hours, get a full review of its features from yours truly, and test drive it in all three modes. He was, to put it mildly, blown away by the Lucid Gravity and how it manages to be a performance car, a luxury car, an economy car, a cargo hauling monster, and does it silently and efficiently. On our trip to Seagrove Tom took all of these pictures to share with some buddies back home. Efficiency 3.11 and about $9.32 to drive \~250 miles. Thanks to the Lucid Air Pure AWD owner who hung out in the parking lot to greet us as his "Lucid cousins". He's officially my first in-the-wild meet & greet. Special thanks to my nephew Tom for being as excited about this car as I am. This is my first EV and I took a chance on it. It felt good to hear it from a guy who is way more into the history of cars than I am. He said it felt like a car from the future."
"3.5.1 is amazing! From a Lucid Air to a Lucid Gravity, 3.5.1 was such a needed upgrade! Better native software stability and new features like CarPlay and Android Auto have been worth the wait, but now we need EV route charging added to them. Don’t forget to update your Lucid app and key fob as well! More detailed information on things like CarPlay limitations and accessories you can add as well coming soon."
"I did a factory reset … and now it’s running MS DOS 😂. Just kidding but it’s scary how we’re supposed to trust lucid EVs (software defined vehicles; dream drive, adaptive cruise control etc) but even simpler software is so buggy? Version numbers are typically hard coded characters in the software build, weird they can mess something as basic as that. Anyway, I love my Air so far, awesome for my family and my software issues have been moderate. Lucid hardware engineering videos from Peter Rawlinson are the main reason I went with Lucid. Does anyone know WHY lucid software engineering sucks?"
"Joint the Gravity family Transitioned from Tesla Model Y to Lucid Air Pure last May, and from Tesla Model X to Lucid Gravity Touring today. The drive was sooooo much smoother and quieter. Tried the driver assist on highway, can feel some swirling on the highway but I shouldn’t compare anyone’s driver assist feature to FSD… Removed the aero covers and put in the stealth nuts and cover on my 21/22, don’t know how much impact on range but it looks much better. Car was updated to 3.5.1 this morning before delivery, so I had the latest and greatest software from the beginning. Haven’t had any issues so far. Car was produced all the way back in October 2025. Ordered on 3/7, was told that delivery was going to happen in a week, but it was delayed to today (3/22) because of the back seat issue. Last but not least, no Homelink in a 100k+ vehicle, seriously?"
"Factory Reset - Now shows old software version I purchased a 2024 Lucid Air Touring last week. Yesterday, Lucid completed the ownership change. I decided to perform a factory reset since I now had access to do so. Everything went smoothly, but now the car and app are stating they are on software version 1.1.4. Now I know this isn't true because I have all the features that came out since then (Android Auto, Hands Free Driving, Lane Change Assist, Nav Updates, etc) and they are all working as intended. The only place things seem to be missing are from the app, which is probably due to it thinking the car is on 1.1.4 when it is not. Has anyone else encountered this? What did you do?"
