2026 Porsche Taycan 4S Perf Battery Plus 19in All-Season (M+S): a mid-pack composite means the records-and-test-drive call matters more than the headline.
Score read
A 74/100 makes this worth pursuing if the price is sane. Do not let the composite hide this split: build quality score is 100/100, while owner feedback score is 48/100. Reddit threads cluster around owner satisfaction and battery degradation — verify both against the service records. The remaining risk is ordinary used-car diligence: battery report, tires, title, and records.
Price context
This trim started from $125,900 new. Used examples have come down since launch, but pricing varies by miles, condition, and how the model is moving right now; pull a current KBB Fair Purchase, an Edmunds True Market Value, or an active dealer listing for this exact trim, and anchor your offer there. Walk if the seller will not move off new-car-style pricing.

Gotchas
- Verify Owner feedback is the part to read carefully (48/100).
Mitigation Read the complaint themes and ask whether this VIN has already had those issues repaired.
- Verify Current market pricing is not confirmed well enough for this trim.
Mitigation Compare KBB, J.D. Power, and live listings for the same trim before treating price as a buying signal.
Pre-purchase inspection
- 1 Compare the dashboard range estimate with the EPA 315-mile rating after a full charge.
- 2 Confirm how much of the 8-year/100,000-mile battery warranty remains and whether it transfers.
- 3 If road trips matter, run a short DC fast-charge session and watch whether speed tapers normally.
- 4 Read the complaint themes, not just the count, and ask the seller whether those issues have shown up on this VIN.
- 5 Review title, service history, tire condition, and charging-equipment records before final price.
No recall records in this scan That helps the shortlist, but it does not replace a VIN lookup, battery report, and service-history check.
Complaint context This scan found 0 NHTSA complaint records (0 per 10K VINs, low for any vehicle class). Read the themes below before treating the raw count as the verdict.
Price needs outside confirmation Current market pricing is incomplete, so MSRP should not be used as the deal signal. Compare KBB, J.D. Power, and live listings for this exact trim.

Source & disclaimer
Dealers make ~$3,575 on the average car loan.
After the price is set, the finance manager runs four plays to rebuild margin. Every buyer without a pre-approval is a target. Here's exactly what they run — and what stops each one.
78% of dealer loans carry a hidden +1.13% markup above what the lender actually charges. You never see it — it's buried in the contract. · CFPB
Dealer must match or beat your lender — they can't add margin invisibly. The markup play is dead on arrival.
Once you answer, they stretch the term to hit your number. Median result: $4K less off the price, 12 more months on the loan. · Industry avg
Financing is done. Only the sale price is on the table — and the dealer knows it.
Back-office F&I profit averages $1,975/vehicle, up 8.5% YoY. These products exist — but dealer markup is 4–10x what you'd pay elsewhere. · Dealership Guy
Dealer GAP runs $500–1K. Your insurer sells the same coverage for $100–250 over 5 years. Now you know.
"Your loan fell through — come re-sign." This pulls your APR up +5% on average. It's legal. It works because you've already driven the car home. · Ctr for Responsible Lending
A lender commitment letter means the deal is final. "Pending dealer approval" doesn't apply. You can't be yo-yo'd.
Margin handed to the dealer's finance department — for nothing.
Takes 2 minutes. No obligation to use it — but you'll walk in with all the leverage.
Pre-approval is a soft credit inquiry — no score impact. FICO treats all auto-loan hard pulls within 14 days as one, so you can still shop rates at the dealer.

What Owners Are Saying
"From personal experience after test drives, and getting a 4S. 1. Get the bigger battery (Perfomance Battery Plus) 2. Sport chrono - the difference between Sport in regular cars and Sport+ with Sport Chrono is massive 3. Rear wheel steering - combined with Sport Chrono makes the car a proper sports car. I have taken a some people on spirited drives on twisty roads and even the ones with fast cars are shocked how fast the Taycan is around corners. And never skimp on tyres."
"What I have learned is that these cars are generally either problem free or problem full, so with that in mind I looked for a Taycan that had more miles than average thinking it meant the car was in the latter camp. One year into my used Taycan CT4 ownership and I haven't had a single issue. Personally, I didn't see much of a point in getting a "4S", "GTS", or a "Turbo" because I don't care if my EV is super fast -- it's really not what I bought it for and I have never once thought to myself I wish my Taycan 4 was faster. The "must-have" option is a fast charger installed in your home. Mine can charge from empty to full overnight. When I was using a regular wall charger it was just like a few dozen miles charge overnight."
"Updated 2025 Porsche Taycans See Their Range Improve by up to 50 Percent in Our Real-World Test >In-car range estimates were shockingly accurate in our range test, remaining within about 1 percent from start to finish. 💯"
"The difference in range you mention are due to how people drive their car Drive harder = higher consumption. First NameSergeyJoinedDec 19, 2021Threads41Messages2,395Reaction score1,746LocationIndianapolisVehicles 2020 was part of a major software update that went from mono Interface to color interface. 2020 was part of an update related to Range where the front motor can be fully disengaged. However, the updates are not something that you would consider constant and continuously improving and adding features. They are only related to safety, recent battery monitoring update related to ARB6/ARB7, and usually it is once a year. This does not include separate Map updates. I am pretty happy every time I see any kind of update."
"Loss of Comfort Access after changing numberplate 2025 for 2021 car. COMFORT ACCESS - Porsche say "Never have to lift a finger ever again." Unless they remove it from your car then out comes the keyboard!! Having same issue that people experienced 2 years ago. Just bought used(2021 plate) Taycan from Porsche dealer, changed number plate myself 2 weeks later and then lost Comfort access. Can see posts in 2023 people with same issue. Main difference now in 2025 is CHATGPT. My draft to Porsche below COMFORT ACCESS - Porsche say "Never have to lift a finger ever again." Unless they remove it from your car!! **Subject: Formal Complaint – Removal of Comfort Access Functionality from Used Porsche Taycan** Dear \[Porsche Customer Services / Name\], I am writing to raise a formal complaint regarding the removal of the **Comfort Access functionality** from my approved used Porsche Taycan, which I purchased from an official Porsche Centre. # Background When I took delivery of the vehicle, I was given a demonstration of features that included: * Automatic unlocking as I approached the vehicle with the key, * Extension of the door handles upon approach, * Contactless boot opening using a foot gesture. These are core elements of Porsche’s **Comfort Access** feature, as described on your own website: “The Comfort Access feature allows you access to the vehicle without actively using the key... boot and bonnet can be opened via contactless gestures... the car unlocks as you approach.” While the **vehicle’s written specification did not list “Comfort Access” by name**, it did include: *“Central locking system ‘Keyless-Go’ (RoW) (FOD)”*. It is entirely reasonable — and indeed, I believe many customers would share the view — that the term “Keyless-Go” encompasses the demonstrated Comfort Access functionality. There was no indication at any point that these features were temporary, subscription-based, or subject to later deactivation. # The Issue Roughly two weeks after purchase, I changed the number plate. Shortly afterward, the Comfort Access features were deactivated. I have now been informed by Porsche UK that to re-enable the functionality, I would need to pay **£1,190**, on the basis that the car was “not originally configured” with this option. It is important to note that **the dealer has been entirely supportive and professional throughout this matter**, and it is clear that the deactivation occurred **as a result of action taken at the manufacturer or regional head office level**, likely due to a system flag or automated rollback to factory settings. In short, this is not an issue caused by the dealer — it is a central systems issue within Porsche UK or Porsche AG. # Legal Considerations Under the **Consumer Rights Act 2015**, a product — including a vehicle — must be: * As described, * Of satisfactory quality, * Fit for purpose, including digital and software functionality where relevant. The presence of Comfort Access functionality"
"2020 is not something that I would recommend and look for newer as this was a launch model and now aged in general including the battery. To me, when the battery warranty expires (8 years or 100k miles) the car is worth zero, since battery replacement, if needed, cost $45k used and almost double that if replaced with new, but if modules need to be replaced that would be cheaper.
