Buyer brief · 230 words

The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV FWD packs 319 miles of EPA range, 150 kW fast charging and a 83 kWh battery, and a worth-pursuing score, but only after a hard inspection and a fair price.

Score read

A 60/100 makes this a high-risk buy. Battery-health score is 77/100, but build quality score is only 35/100. On Reddit, owners keep flagging the same two issues: range and owner satisfaction. Treat missing repair records as a price problem, not a footnote.

Gotchas

  • Serviceable Recall paperwork has to match the exact VIN.

Mitigation Use NHTSA and the automaker lookup, then require repair records instead of a verbal promise.

  • Verify Build quality is where the inspection earns its keep (35/100).

Mitigation Inspect alignment, cabin noise, suspension feel, tires, and trim wear more carefully than usual.

Pre-purchase inspection

  • 1 Run the exact VIN through NHTSA and the automaker recall lookup before discussing price.
  • 2 Compare the dashboard range estimate with the EPA 319-mile rating after a full charge.
  • 3 Confirm how much of the 8-year/100,000-mile battery warranty remains and whether it transfers.
  • 4 If road trips matter, run a short DC fast-charge session and watch whether speed tapers normally.
  • 5 Drive rough pavement, check door and hatch alignment, and listen for trim noise before you negotiate.

On numerous occasions, the multiple automatic collision braking systems have engaged in what I would describe as phantom breaking. For me personally, the automatic breaking has on multiple occasions caused a serious crash, both while backing out of parking, at intersections and most recently on Interstate 880. The AEB system engaged and slammed the breaks while changing a lane in traffic and the car came to a complete standstill. Two cars almost crashed into me. I feel less safe with AEB engaged than I feel without it and I this incident was the final straw. I will be disabling AEB. The system is severely flawed and will be the cause for serious accidents.

On Monday, April 6th, I was turning into a parking lot and the braking system, specifically the anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake control module, appeared to malfunction. While driving, I received a warning indicating the ABS was off, and the brake pedal became soft with reduced stopping ability. The check engine light also came on. I had to coast the vehicle to a complete stop. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The loss of normal braking function significantly reduced my ability to stop the vehicle safely, increasing the risk of a collision. This created a dangerous situation for myself, passengers, and other drivers on the road. Brake failure at any speed presents a serious safety hazard.I am aware of similar complaints reported for this issue. My vehicle was towed to and inspected by a dealership where it sat overnight before being diagnosed; however, they were unable to reproduce the issue at the time of service. Despite this, the braking failure did occur and remains a safety concern. The service advisor told me to "bring it back if it happens again" and that it "lost communication with the EBCM" which sometimes happens. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer directly, police, or insurance representatives. There were no warning lamps or other symptoms of this problem prior to the failure.

Front automatic emergency braking has activated abruptly three times in routine following traffic while I was already braking behind a slowing vehicle. It caused a very hard stop and nearly led to a rear-end collision from the vehicle behind me. Please inspect the forward camera/sensors, calibration, AEB settings, and check for any related fault codes or software issues.” This happened on 3/18 while I was getting ready to go onto the freeway and the cars in front of me slowed down I applied the brakes to slow down and the ABS brakes abruptly and strongly I was almost rear ended. There was another passenger that felt the same thing and commented on what happened.

When accelerating to enter a road with high speed traffic the engine dies for a few seconds resulting in on coming traffic having to brake to avoid a collision. Then, the engine suddenly accelerates wildly. This problem occurs every time the vehicle is driven. The dealer service people has "tested" by driving the vehicle for 7 miles and declared there is nothing wrong. This is dangerous because the vehicle engine dies/stalls at a critical moment and if an oncoming driver isn't paying attention this could result in a collision.

While driving under normal conditions, a body panel detached from my vehicle and flew off without any collision, impact, or external cause. This was not an accident. The vehicle was being operated properly, and the failure occurred spontaneously, creating a significant safety risk to myself and other motorists. Since purchasing this vehicle less than one year ago, it has been subject to multiple recalls, raising further concerns about overall build quality and safety. I am also aware of reports from other Chevrolet Equinox EV owners who have experienced similar component failures, suggesting a potential pattern of defects. When I attempted to address this issue through the dealership and insurance channels, my concerns were dismissed, and the incident was incorrectly characterized as an “accident,” despite the absence of any collision or driver error.

Battery Feb 3, 2026

Just after Thanksgiving, my vehicle displayed a “Service Emergency Calling” message. I brought it to the dealership and they documented the concern, referencing GM bulletin PIP6077B, but no repairs were performed. On December 30th, while parking, I shifted into reverse and the vehicle would not reverse and instead moved forward. A “Service Transmission” warning appeared and the vehicle was towed. The dealer cleared the codes and released the vehicle without performing any diagnostics. About two weeks later, when starting the vehicle after work, several warnings appeared, including “Service Safety Restraint System,” “Forward Collision System Unavailable,” and a rear-seat alert despite no passengers. While driving, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and blind zone steering assist were not functioning. The next morning, the vehicle suffered a complete electrical failure. It would not start, the screens stayed off, and the doors would not lock or unlock. The vehicle was towed again. The dealer replaced the battery, claimed it had simply died, and attempted to return the vehicle to me. I refused because none of the prior warnings were diagnosed, and I was told the codes “erase when the battery is changed.” After I demanded full electrical and transmission diagnostics, including a parasitic draw test, the dealership informed me the vehicle was unsafe to drive. They stated the OnStar/telematics module was draining the battery and the replacement part was backordered with no estimated arrival date. I was told multiple customers are waiting for the same part, which means this is NOT an isolated event and needs way more attention than it's being given. This defect results in loss of essential safety systems and complete vehicle shutdown, creating a significant safety risk.

While driving on the highway during morning rush hour the automatic braking fully engaged during slow traffic almost causing me to be rear-ended. The braking engaged after a split second collision warning after a car had merged in front of me. I was already slowing down via one pedal driving and about to begin applying my brakes when this occurred and there was plenty of space before any type of collision. I was going roughly 5-10 mpg when this occurred having slowed down to allow the car to merge. Afterwards it took a few seconds for the car to allow me to re-engage the gas to start moving again. This type of phantom braking has occurred in other instances in my driveway and in store parking lots but this is the first time it's put me at risk. It is available for inspection as needed. This has not been examined or reproduced by the dealer on my vehicle or inspected.

On 3 separate occasions now, my vehicle has slammed on the brakes abruptly when there were no other cars around me in close proximity. The sensors vibrated the driver seat each time right before slamming brakes on, even though no other cars were even close to me. The sensors often go off when they shouldn’t be. The first time this happened, there were no cars ahead of me or beside me on the highway but there was one car behind me about 50 feet I’d say. Thankfully he was paying attention or he would have rear ended me. The 2nd time my husband was getting off an exit ramp so he was only going about 25mph and the car slammed the brakes on. There were no cars ahead of him or behind him. The 3rd time I was pulling out of a plaza entering a stop light and when I saw no cars coming, I started to pull out and it slammed on the brakes. There was a car behind me, but none beside me, and since I was turning left to approach the stop light, there were a few cars in each lane but they were about 20 feet away from me. None of these incidents should have activated the emergency braking. It has to be faulty sensors as they go off often when they shouldn’t. My husband and I both felt like we had bruised ribs and we thank God that nobody hit us, but at some point, we won’t be so lucky! And I am forced to drive this death trap because it’s not showing any codes for the dealership AND I still have to pay on my loan to drive an unsafe car!

My 2025 Chevrolet Equinox (VIN: [XXX] ) was at Island Chevrolet from Thursday, June 26, 2025, through Monday, July 14, 2025, due to the transmission seizing. The vehicle was not even a year old at the time, as I purchased it in April 2025. Today, [XXX], my Equinox is at Freehold Buick because the OnStar hardware has failed. There is currently no estimated time of arrival for the replacement parts. The OnStar hardware controls critical vehicle functions, including diagnostics, automatic crash response, navigation, and remote commands such as remote start and door locking. A known issue with this OnStar failure is that the vehicle’s battery can drain as the system continuously attempts to reconnect. These types of major issues should not be occurring within the first year of ownership. At this time, there is still no date for when the OnStar hardware will be available. OnStar Module malfunctioned, has been diagnosed and awaits identification of specific type of module to determine if one is available or if it is one that will be on back order. The safety of myself and my family was put at risk, along with others, when vehicle braking system randomly activated and slammed on the brakes despite clear highways all around, almost causing us to be rear-ended more than once. This has happened prior to 12/01 several times randomly but we assumed the sensor was sensitive and was picking up something we couldn't see, however this was not the case in this situation. The battery keeps going dead and needing jumped and there are numerous warning messages/lamps. Dealer service department confirmed OnStar module failure and need for replacement, has not yet reproduced braking issues. Vehicle is currently at dealership service department for inspection and was deemed unsafe to drive at this time. Dealer stated they had no loaner vehicles to supply and instructed us GM would reimburse up to $45 daily for rental at Enterprise, so a rental vehicle was obtained and placed on waiting list at two different dealerships for loaner vehicle. WiFi and Navigation System originally quit working, then car battery started dying and requires being jumped multiple times if not driven within 8 hours, Received alerts off and on of "Lane Change Alert System Off", "Service Parking Break", "Adaptive Cruise Control Temp Unavailable", "Service Power Steering", "Service Electronic Stability Control", "Service Transmission Now, Unable to shift soon", and cruise control/Lane assist etc quit working. We became stranded in another town and had to purchase a portable jumper. Dealer currently has no anticipated repair date.

There is a button on the top of the steering wheel that puts the car in low gear. We have been going down the interstate twice and my husband accidentally hit the button slowing down the car immediately. This is very dangerous and could cause a rear end collision. We have reported it to Chevrolet several times, to the service department twice and the corporation also. Low gear has normally been on the gear shift with all the other gears, but for some reason, they put it on the top left side of the steering wheel. That is a very strange place to have that since the steering wheel also has buttons for cruise control, Bluetooth, stereo, etc. We think this button needs to be disengaged and put else where, but Chevrolet offered us $150 for the inconvenience. We are not concerned with convenience, but with safety. Also, the vertical buttons on the dash below the navigation screen are not visible during the day. At night, when it is dark, the light illuminate the buttons so they can be seen, but they are not visible during the day. However, you do need to be able to see the buttons. My husband used a label maker to put the names on the buttons just to prevent a wreck, but Chevrolet needs to address the issue. We have mentioned this to the service department and corporate office, but they do no seem to be concerned. We consider both items to be an issue that needs to be corrected, but no one seems to care. On Th, Nov 6 ~1700, the 25 Equinox EV being driven encountered an electric drive failure and brake failure, including friction brakes. This Equinox EV is essentially still brand new with 3900 miles and no accident history. The vehicle was driven off the EB SR 528 exit ramp to Narcoossee Rd in Orlando and driven to the stop light at the WB on ramp. After the light changed and began driving, the vehicle console reported an exception with drive assist. At this time the driver attempted to slow down to take stock of the situation and the vehicle accelerated, at which time the driver took their foot off the brake pedal and attempted to identify a place to take the vehicle off the roadways. Thankfully a stoplight at McCoy Rd was green and the driver continued through that light and while attempting to brake, the vehicle accelerated instead. The driver then coasted, maneuvering the vehicle was into the Vista Palms commercial center. The vehicle, unresponsive to braking, propelled through a stop sign into the Kohl's parking lot at which time the driver began looping around the lot until the weight of the vehicle brought the motion down. While the vehicle was stopped, it rotated through warning messages indicating..forward collision, brake assist is reduced, steering assist is reduced, then finally Service Transmission Now Unable to Shift Soon. The vehicle was towed by AAA to AutoNation Chevrolet Airport in Orlando. Technicians found codes U1610 and U1639, and found K160 connecter unseated. It was reseated and greased. The concern is that this should have been locked and unable to be unseated. Is this an indication of manufacturing problem or operating problem? All braking was dysfunctional. How can we be certain that this was not a one off event?

I was driving my 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV on the highway with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) engaged. The vehicle was also set to "One-Pedal Driving" (High regenerative braking). The vehicle in front of me slowed down abruptly. My vehicle's ACC began to slow the car, but it was not decelerating quickly enough to avoid a collision. I immediately intervened by pressing the brake pedal as hard as I could, pushing it completely to the floor. Critical Safety Failure: The vehicle's physical brakes failed to engage. Despite my foot being pressed hard to the floor, the vehicle did not slow down. It felt as though only the regenerative braking was (slowly) working and that my manual brake application had zero effect. The vehicle continued to glide forward with no significant braking power, and I was unable to stop the car in time, resulting in a collision with the rear of the vehicle ahead. Summary of Defect: The primary safety failure was the complete lack of response from the manual brake pedal. My attempt to override the vehicle's automated systems in an emergency was unsuccessful, as the brake pedal was unresponsive. Reporting History: I have already reported this incident to my auto insurance, my local Chevrolet dealership, and the Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center. A representative from Chevrolet recommended that I file this report with the NHTSA to help identify and track similar safety-critical incidents.

When there is dew, condensation, or rain on the windshield, the Front End Collision Warning system becomes inactive and displays the message: "Front End Collision System Inactive-Clean Windshield." This happens frequently, even with light moisture, and the warning system remains disabled until the windshield dries completely. Given that wet or low-visibility conditions are precisely when collision avoidance features are most critical, this failure creates a serious safety risk. I have verified that the windshield is clean and that three are no obstructions on the camera or sensors. Despite this, the system consistently deactivates whenever moisture is present. This issue appears to be a design or sensor calibration problem, not a maintenance issue.

Yesterday the car was moving forward at 2-3 mph, when the brakes suddenly engaged without warning, bringing the car to a sudden stop, violently enough that I thought I had been in a collision. However, there were no cars behind me, and the car in front was about 20 feet away, also moving forward slowly. No pedestrians were in view. A light mist was falling, but otherwise the weather and visibility were fine. If there had been a car close behind me, or if this had happened on a highway, a serious accident could have resulted. A quick internet search shows that this problem has been reported by other Equinox owners, and the only apparent fix is to disengage the automatic braking system. This is a safety issue (both the unexpected braking problem itself and the unsafe fix of disengaging a major anti collision feature), and warrants a recall.

On 10/26/25 at approximately 3:40pm while on a freeway (traveling approximately 65mph) with no traffic or cars in close proximity for the automatic brakes to be engaged, the 2025 ev equinox slammed its brakes on its own without driver braking. This caused whiplash to be experienced by two of the three passengers and it felt like we were rear ended but no cars were around. This is very dangerous. Had there been car behind me this would have caused serious accident.

OnStar telematics unit stopped working with no notification in the infotainment system. The LED light remained GREEN in color advising me that the OnStar system was working. Hundreds of people reporting the same issue across multiple GM vehicles. My vehicle has been at the dealership for almost two weeks and there is no ETA on when the replacement part will be received from GM. This is a known problem component that should have initiated a safety recall. Due to the non operation of the OnStar system, we no longer have access to the emergency notification if involved a traffic collision. We also no longer have access to the stolen vehicle tracking system. NHTSA needs to investigate this issue, especially since GM is taking their time with getting replacement parts to dealerships.

I have driven the vehicle 13,000 miles without incident. However, twice this week, once moving forward and once backward, the emergency parking brake engaged without warning, bringing the vehicle to an abrupt stop. In both cases it was daylight, clear weather, with no visual indication of an obstacle in the vehicle's path. In response I have turned off its automatic braking/collision avoidance features and will see if that solves the problem. What is concerning, however, is that this did not occur for 13,000 miles, and then abruptly started.

On star Telematics is not working the issue is effecting GPS and most importantly the adaptive driving system including cruise control system. I have stopped using these services to due an intermittent failure while driving. The adaptive cruise will disengage itself. Also the collision avoidance system will initiate braking randomly. I was told that the replacement parts are not available and or “extremely long wait time”. I’m not comfortable driving this vehicle and have no options but to continue until the lease is up.

Vehicle was being parked in garage when it accelerated in reverse, on it's own, very quickly. Fortunately I was able to avoid colliding with any thing behind me by braking in time. I then shifted into drive when vehicle accelerated forward, on it's own again, very quickly. I was not able to brake before vehicle crashed into concrete garage wall, severely damaging front end. Vehicle is still under warranty, and I intend to have dealership haul it in for repairs. I have found other drivers complain on the Internet of experiencing the exact same issue as I described above. I then disabled the automatic emergency braking feature to avoid similar “phantom” collision detections.

Phantom braking at speed: I have experienced more than one alarming instances of "phantom braking at speed" where the vehicle unexpectedly brakes, all wheels locked, and violently skids on the pavement. This is a very alarming occurrence to driver and passengers as well as to drivers of other nearby vehicles. Specifically, this first occurred without warning on [XXX] on [XXX], traveling at 30 mph. The wheels then unlocked spontaneously after 2 to 4 seconds. This is potentially a significant and intolerable life-safety issue. When a car suddenly and unexpectedly slams on its brakes, it can create a dangerous situation for both the driver and passengers and others on the road. This could lead to a rear-end collision if the driver behind my Equinox vehicle does not have enough time to react; this may also result in Driver panic and overcorrection: The startling nature of the Phantom Braking can cause the driver to potentially swerve into another lane or oncoming traffic. The Phantom Braking again occurred on the afternoon of [XXX] on [XXX] in SLO while driving at 40 mph past [XXX]. Loss of confidence: Repeated incidents of phantom braking have eroded this driver's trust in the vehicle's safety features, which could lead to ignoring legitimate warnings in the future. (1) On Saturday 8/23/25, the braking system failed while driving on gravel roads going downhill. (2) I could not stop the vehicle going downhill. I thought I was going to crash. As I started to go downhill @ ~5 mph, I put my foot on the brake pedal, the car would not brake. Pressing hard or lightly didn’t make a difference. It felt like an anti-lock brake (ALB) pulse 1X and then gave up releasing all braking even though the foot is on the brake. The 2-way road is heavily used, smooth, wide, and maintained. Other vehicles were going down the gravel fine. The grade is ~10%. (3) The problem was reproduced numerous times on 8/24/25, while my husband drove on gravel going downhill and attempting to slow down or stop the car. This gravel is with potholes and some rocks starting w/ grades 5-6%. I was a passenger in the car. At one point I thought we were going to hit the on-coming car, because the brakes were not working properly. (4) An appointment is being made w/ the dealer to inspect the car. (5) (On 8/23) I am not aware of warnings or messages. (On 8/24) A “ABS” alert appeared on the display sometimes. Additional Info: (6) On 6/15/25, I drove on gravel with 5-10% grades w/o issues for ~6 miles. When I pressed on the brake pedal, the car slowed down without issues. ALB did not engage. (7) I have recently read break failure stories that are similar from other Equinox EV owners. "... my car has had two separate brake failures..." "… now going down a fairly steep gravel hill daily, i experience very little braking..." "… I pressed the brakes and there was no perceived braking for at least 20 feet... "... brake failure this past weekend while descending a dirt/stone road… The ABS, would not shut off for our entire descent, which lasted for about 2 full minutes. During this time, we could not stop the car and were accelerating out of control…."

I experienced a brake failure this past weekend in my 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV LT while descending a dirt/stone road. The moment we started descending, the ABS system engaged and did not brake the car adequately. In my opinion, the ABS system should not have engaged in this terrain. The ABS, would not shut off for our entire descent, which lasted for about two full minutes. During this time, we could not stop the car and were accelerating out of control. We got going far faster than I was comfortable with, and my passenger & I thought we were going to end up crashing. After about a minute of inability to brake properly or stop, we ended up getting a flat tire. The flat tire, combined with the terrain flattening, eventually helped us come to a complete stop. After stopping, the car was also having software issues (infotainment system resetting), and the infotainment system was very hot to the touch, suggesting an electrical or software malfunction tied to the braking system. It was a very scary situation, but my passenger and I were not injured. This failure left me and my passenger completely out of control of the vehicle, with a high risk of collision, rollover, or serious injury. In my opinion, a braking system that does not stop the vehicle when the pedal is fully applied constitutes a critical safety defect. Chevrolet has been contacted, but the dealer refused to treat this as a warranty safety issue so far. The vehicle remains available for inspection.

The brakes will slam suddenly very aggressively, I assume it is the e-brakes as it feels like I hit a wall. It is a safety issue as if someone was behind me it could cause an accident. This is discussed on multiple message boards(e.g. Hard braking without warning! | Chevy Equinox EV Forum https://share.google/EUGSD4XpQzOpnlUwy) but the manufacturer is not acknowledging any issue when contacted. NHTSA Safety Complaint (Loss of Emergency Connectivity) Subject: 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV — OnStar/telematics failure disables Emergency Services & Automatic Crash Response; part on national backorder VIN: [XXX] Make/Model/Year: Chevrolet Equinox EV, 2025, RS trim Mileage at first occurrence: 4000 Date problem first occurred: [XXX] Frequency: Continuous (services remain unavailable) Injuries/Crashes: None to date Component(s) affected: Electrical system — telematics/communication (OnStar); emergency calling/SOS; crash notification (ACR). Description of the safety defect: The vehicle’s OnStar/Connected Services display “Services Unavailable.” The dealer diagnosed a failed telematics module. Replacement is on national backorder with no estimated timeframe. While in this condition, Emergency Services and Automatic Crash Response are disabled—the SOS button does not connect, and the vehicle will not automatically contact OnStar after a crash. Parts availability (scope/delay): My dealership and multiple GM/Chevrolet and OnStar owner forums indicate 3+ month waits for the telematics module with no ETA, leaving vehicles without emergency connectivity for extended periods. What has been done so far: Dealer confirmed module failure and opened a parts order; advised no ETA due to national backorder. Manufacturer has not provided an interim fix or loaner vehicle. Issue remains unresolved as of Aug 11, 2025. Why this is a safety concern: Loss of emergency calling and crash notification defeats safety features marketed as critical for post-crash response. Owners cannot rely on the vehicle to summon help after a collision or medical emergency. Requested NHTSA action: Track this failure and parts unavailability, assess scope, and determine whether a safety investigation or recall is warranted. The volume control in my vehicle will randomly change volume, up to and including full volume. This has almost caused a few crashes because it is very startling and the only way to lower the volume is to use the steering wheel controls (the volume knob does not accept input when this happens - it has a mind of its own). It is relatively simple to fight the volume when going straight, but it is very hard to do when it happens while trying to maneuver while the wheel is not centered as the controls are not accessible. While always annoying, it is very dangerous when trying to make such a maneuver and losing all concentration by blaring radio or attempting to move my hands on the wheel mid turn. This was a problem from the first day we bought the car and it was noted that my local dealer could fix it under warranty (I purchased from an out of town dealer). That dealer told me that GM was refusing to fix anything, insisting that I wait six months to see if a seemingly unrelated software update fixes the issue. The manager at my dealership has been trying to get approval and did get approval to replace a part in attempt to fix it. That did not work and they are now refusing to replace the other part that has fixed a similar issue for others. I believe they replaced the module that processes the sensor information, but are refusing to replace the sensor (volume wheel) itself. This car would have been crashed by many other drivers who could not cope with such in-vehicle distraction - this includes my daughter who refuses to drive the vehicle and really doesn't like riding in it. GM needs to fix this ASAP for myself and any other experiencing the issue. I do have videos of the behavior available, but can not attach them here because they are not accepted. It has been over 2 months since the dealer initially looked at the issue and the warranty repair was denied.

On May 8,2025 the lift gate failed and crashed down on my head, vehicle is available for inspection and only a GM inspector has looked at it so far. The dealership told me because I filed a complaint with GM they can't touch it unless directed by GM now. It almost knocked me out, I saw black and was hard to see for at first within a few hours it was a huge goose egg on my head. It put me and my 6yr old at risk as she was with me but luckily in the car already. When approaching my car I used the liftgate remote to open it ahead of time, got my daughter in car and went to put our backpacks in the back when it crashed on my head full force no warning. It was extremely painful and caused a concussion with multiple symptoms. Headaches, painful bump, ear ringing, feeling so hot, major brain fog, forgetfulness, watery eyes, feeling really tired and hard to wake up in the morning. It has been about 3 weeks and the symptoms are mostly gone except bad ear ringing, light sensativity, on and off headaches easily, can't put my hair in ponytail as it hurts still. I still have a small dent in my head. The doc says these lasting concussion symptoms could last for months. I don't understand why this has problem has not been fixed when research shows it has been a problem since 2010. The only other issue I had with the car was my instrument panel going black while I was driving a few weeks prior.

On two separate occasions, the dash and radio restarted while we were driving. Whole driving down the highway, the speakers stopped working, both screens would go blank and the red pre collision lights would turn on. This causes the inability to see your speedometer or other required information while driving. I am unsure if this affects any other safety equipment from functioning if there was a crash during this timeframe. This lasted for several seconds while the system essentially restarted itself. Once everything turned back on, everything worked as it should. It went into the dealer for the first time it did this and they did a software update to prevent this but it did not apparently fix the issue.

Yesterday while approaching a hairpin exit, all of a sudden lights went on for the Stabilitrack, Collision alert and a number of other lights. Messages popped up saying braking assist was not available, cruise control was not available. Basically, the braking assist was gone and I had to press REALLY hard on the brake pedal to get any slowdown. All regen was gone and it was like driving a car without power brakes. I also got a message saying it would not go faster than 62mph. There was no indication of any issues prior to the Brake assist failure. This put me at extreme risk because it was essentially a power braking failure and it was extremely difficult to slow down. I had to really push hard on the brake pedal. I was able to drive my car back to the dealership where it is sitting now, waiting to be looked at in the morning of 3/24/25. I have attached a PDF of the OnStar diagnostic report, cryptic as usual, but it is a record of the codes that were thrown. Also seems like some modules were not communicating properly. References: [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] the Equinox EV is currently giving me issues with the brake system. This inconvenience is extremely annoying, frustrating, and most importantly, very dangerous. I'm forced to repeatedly turn my vehicle off and back on, while attempting to re-engage the one-pedal driving. This is a cornerstone advantage of the EV in general, and needs to work 100% of the time, just as my money is taken every month 100% of the time. This also results in other critical features being disabled, such as the auto-hold and forward collision systems. I believe it also impacts the cruise control as well. I am greatly displeased with this and now want to give the vehicle back. My lessor, GM Financial, has specific guidelines in place that make this difficult. What can Chevrolet do to address this? "Is the Chevrolet Equinox EV 'designed from the ground up' to be an EV or is it a gas Equinox with an EV drivetrain? I've seen a lot of reviews of the Equinox EV and cannot really tell if it was designed to be an EV. Some say yes, some don't say. None mention a frunk or a flat rear floor. I had a chance to look under the hood of a 2024 Equinox EV and it looks suspiciously like a gas engine compartment with the front electric motor dropped in. Nobody in my area has a 2025 that I can check. I'm concerned about EVs that are mere adaptions of gas vehicles. I drove a Hyundai Kona EV a few years ago and it was obvious that many artifacts of the ice drivetrain were present, e.g. the missing gasoline fill tube takes up room in the back as does the non-existent muffler, no frunk and a hump under the rear seat. **Edit: here's what I learned. Thanks all!** * The fact that the ice and EV models share the Equinox name is inconsequential. The Equinox EV is a ground up EV design based on the Ultium platform. * The rather large empty space I observed under the hood in front of the drive motor/inverter, roughly 0.25m or so all the way down, on a 2024 Equinox EV is not space that an ice engine radiator would go. * If you Google for information for Ultium (as some commenters helpfully suggested) the headlines say that GM is dropping it. Drilling into it: GM is not dropping Ultium just changing the name. Now, GM refers to it as the BEV3 platform. * The speed for DC charging tops out at 150kW, which to me is slow for something designed in this decade. Let's see, is that it? O"

I added air so we’ll see tomorrow if that improves things. #28· Jun 26, 2024 > Com4734 said: > > But I also realized all my tires were 3 to 4 psi underinflated. > > > Click to expand... #26· Jun 26, 2024 No break in period but yes, under-inflated tires can have a big, negative impact, Com.
