The 2024 Genesis GV70 Electrified comes with 236 miles of EPA range, 187 kW fast charging and a 83 kWh battery, and the score gets it into the conversation; battery and service records decide whether to make an offer.
Score read
A 65/100 makes this a paperwork-and-test-drive decision. Software and driver-assist score is 97/100, but range and efficiency score is only 37/100. Owners on Reddit repeatedly cite build quality and owner satisfaction as recurring problems. Treat missing repair records as a price problem, not a footnote.
Price context
Used examples are running around $44,073. Treat that as a budgeting floor, not a final price; pull a current KBB Fair Purchase or Edmunds True Market Value for this exact trim before negotiating.

- Built in Range is the easy place to overbuy this trim (37/100).
Mitigation Check your commute, winter margin, and fast-charge plan before you assume the EPA number fits your use.
Pre-purchase inspection
- 1 Run the exact VIN through NHTSA and the automaker recall lookup before discussing price.
- 2 Compare the dashboard range estimate with the EPA 236-mile rating after a full charge.
- 3 Confirm how much of the 10-year/100,000-mile battery warranty remains and whether it transfers.
- 4 If road trips matter, run a short DC fast-charge session and watch whether speed tapers normally.
- 5 Map your normal highway route and winter margin against the EPA range before you treat it as a road-trip car.

Dealers make ~$10,851 on the average car loan.
After the price is set, the finance manager runs four plays to rebuild margin. Every buyer without a pre-approval is a target. Here's exactly what they run — and what stops each one.
78% of dealer loans carry a hidden +1.13% markup above what the lender actually charges. You never see it — it's buried in the contract. · CFPB
Dealer must match or beat your lender — they can't add margin invisibly. The markup play is dead on arrival.
Once you answer, they stretch the term to hit your number. Median result: $4K less off the price, 12 more months on the loan. · Industry avg
Financing is done. Only the sale price is on the table — and the dealer knows it.
Back-office F&I profit averages $1,975/vehicle, up 8.5% YoY. These products exist — but dealer markup is 4–10x what you'd pay elsewhere. · Dealership Guy
Dealer GAP runs $500–1K. Your insurer sells the same coverage for $100–250 over 5 years. Now you know.
"Your loan fell through — come re-sign." This pulls your APR up +5% on average. It's legal. It works because you've already driven the car home. · Ctr for Responsible Lending
A lender commitment letter means the deal is final. "Pending dealer approval" doesn't apply. You can't be yo-yo'd.
That's 18 months of your car payment — handed to the dealer's finance department for nothing.
Takes 2 minutes. No obligation to use it — but you'll walk in with all the leverage.
Pre-approval is a soft credit inquiry — no score impact. FICO treats all auto-loan hard pulls within 14 days as one, so you can still shop rates at the dealer.

I moved to Reno, NV where I need to merge onto route 80 everyday. During several attempts to merge onto 80, my Genesis GV70 stopped accelerating at 42 MPH, roughly 5000 RPMs and I was almost rear ended on two occasions because of the 'stalling' of the vehicle. An 18 wheel truck almost hit me because I couldn't accelerate past 42 MPH. Luckily, I was able to pull off the road. There was no warning light or check engine light on the dashboard. This was not a one time issue. Everytime I tried to merge at high speeds the car would not respond. I've attached a video that shows the issue. Genesis towed my car to a dealer in Mountain View CA. I did notice that I was leaking radiator fluid in the days prior to my incidents but when I checked the overflow tank, it was full. Again, there were no check engine lights on the dash. The Mountain View Genesis service manager replicated the issue and discovered that a small rock had come through the bottom grill and damaged the intercooler radiator. He unequivocally stated that "it's a design flaw in the lower grill. The grill has such a wide opening that foreign objects can enter through the lower grill." He went on to say that the intercooler radiator sits below the regular radiator and is made of a softer metal than the regular radiator which makes is more susceptible to damage. He also said that another Genesis GV70 came into his shop the same day with the exact same issue. The cost of the repair was $2,200 dollars to replace the intercooler radiator. (the intercooler was on backorder which may be demand) I opened a case with Genesis and they say that the repair is not covered under a warranty. The Genesis owners forum has numerous complaints of 'lack of acceleration' issues. Someone polled owners and 28 people responded that they experienced a similar lack of acceleration dangerous situation. I moved my Genesis GV-70 to my home in Reno, NV. My complaint is in regard to my car becoming very dangerous! I'm giving you my move to Reno because its relevant to this complaint. I didn't need quick acceleration while I was living in Florida. In Reno, I have to merge onto Route 80 everywhere that I go. Acceleration during a merger is extremely important here in Reno. So what I've experienced in Reno is a VERY DANGEROUS situation with my Genesis. My GV-70 stops accelerating around 40MPH, or roughly 5,000 RPM. The transmission stalls out and the car revs at 5000 but does not respond. I've almost been rear ended by tractor trailers and other vehicles because of this dangerous situation. I have since found out that my recall for a ECM Software Update-P030X Misfire problem is the acceleration issue that I've described. Here is my complaint: My car should not be allowed to be driven in this current condition. Genesis has understated the severity of this issue dramatically and certainly the language in their recall letter didn't reference not being able to accelerate past 40 MPH/5,000 RPM. I didn't experience this issue while driving mostly local roads in Fort Myers Florida, but here in Reno, this car and it's condition is DANGEROUS! It has caused near misses with very catastrophic consequences. I am driving my car to Rocklin California (2 hours away) next week for service which includes the Misfire problem as well as other service issues. The Misfire recall should taken my car off the road, Genesis did not address the severity and dangerous possibilities of this issue.

The digital instrument cluster in my 2024 Genesis GV70 has failed multiple times while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealership on December 20, 2025 for instrument cluster malfunction. The vehicle remained in the shop for approximately four weeks, and the instrument cluster module was replaced. The vehicle was returned to me on January 19, 2026 with representation that the issue had been corrected. On February 8, 2026, only 20 days after the repair, the instrument cluster failed again while the vehicle was in operation. The panel was completely inoperative for approximately two hours. During the failure: Speedometer was not visible, Warning lights were not visible, Fuel gauge was not visible, Safety indicators were not visible, signal lights not working, Automatic Engine Start/Stop system control not working. Entire console goes out. Operating a vehicle without access to critical driving information presents a safety hazard.

On [XXX] I was I came out of a store and made a right turn to enter onto a very very busy bustling street. As I tried to accelerate, my car had absolutely no acceleration and just stopped. I pulled into a vacant lot and drove around and decided to try it again. The same thing happened. I was surrounded by cars going 80 mph and this could have gone very wrong. I called for a tow…they came the next day. I did not see any messages on the dash but I was so panicked I could have missed it. They could not recreate the problem at the dealership. North Charleston said they could not recreate this….they've had my car since 12/18/2023. I’ve been in touch with genesis corporate and she’s calling me today. Her name is Dea and her tn is 714/798/9904. There was a recall of 19, 222 gv70’s, 80’s and 90’s back in 2022. This is a very serious situation. My vehicle is just shy of 4 months old and I’m leasing this. I’m afraid to drive for fear I’ll get in a very serious accident if not killed. The teks are plugging this into the diagnostic machine and no errors are coming up but my car has been at the dealership for almost three weeks with no resolve. North Charleston wants their loaner back. I’ve been in touch with Columbia genesis where I leased the vehicle and they’re telling me they can’t do anymore then what North Charleston has done. Why can’t they go in and look at the engine, the battery, the fuel injection system, the fuel pump? I feel like they consider this negligible because they can’t duplicate it. This is not acceptable to me. Dea from corporate told me if nothing came up on the diagnostic machine they wouldn’t take it any further. That’s very very frightening to me. Thank you for your consideration. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

While driving an audible pop from the rear of the vehicle was heard. Upon hearing the pop the vehicle warning lights came on and a sudden loss of power reducing my maximum speed to 20 mile per hour. The electrical system failure warning came up on the screen and the car would not accelerate to over 20 miles per hour. The dealer stated it was a failed ICCU and fuse. This has been at the dealer for over 10 days without a return window provided. The car has 15,802 miles on it.

The car has been shaking between 65-75mph and sometimes around 40-50mph since 9/7/2024. Car has been at the dealer service center 7 times, more then 30 days to attempt to resolve the issue, but nothing has worked. The last service visit they replaced the front axle. the car still shakes. I'm nervous something is going to fly off or a bolt is going to come loose from the shaking. I don't feel safe driving the car, but i don't have money to purchase another car. Genesis is aware of this safety issue and refuses to take action. I have a letter stating they were going to buy the car back by 12/15/2025, but they changed there mind. I guess they want people to drive unsafe cars. Don't buy a Genesis, Hyundai, or Kia. They don't stand by there word or seem to care if it affects there bank account.

I am filing this formal complaint against Genesis Motor America (a division of Hyundai Motor America) for the repeated failure to repair my defective 2024 Genesis GV70. The vehicle has been a nightmare of safety hazards, financial ruin, and life degradation, with over 240 days out of service in 8 months. This saga began as a dream purchase, but quickly turned into a relentless horror story of mechanical and ADAS failures, dealer incompetence, and manufacturer indifference. The vehicle has been in the shop on six separate occasions under three (3) different dealers, with collective downtime exceeding 240 days, far surpassing Florida's Lemon Law thresholds (3+ repair attempts for the same defect or 15+ days out of service).

I was entering a highway when my vehicle lost the ability to accelerate. Complete loss of acceleration, audible and visual notifications on my dashboard that were difficult to read as I was dealing with a dangerous situation. I was fortunate that there was a pull out immediately ahead and no traffic that allowed me to quickly get to safety. Had I been further up the highway or on a freeway, my life and that of drivers around me would have been in imminent danger as this was sudden and unexpected. After I pulled out, my vehicle dashboard contained a message that read: Stop vehicle and check power supply. My vehicle's app presents two "Attention Needed" notifications: 1) CHASSIS DTC C160C87 and 2) CHASSIS DTC P1A9096. My vehicle is only 2 years old and had all recommended recalls and maintenance checked prior to this event.

I'm seeing frequency emergency braking when trying to back into a clear parking space. This occurs about 8-10 times a year. The sensors are clean. There are no doors or lift gates ajar.

Pulling out of parking lot onto street and car would not accelerate beyond 10 miles a hr Pedal was to the floor and didn't change speed. Read on forum this is a known issue. Possibly fuel issue. No DTC code is issued. Dealer could not replicate, which I read on forum was known. Worried about this happening again or on highway.

The passenger side sideview mirror of my vehicle folds to a closing position while the vehicle is in motion. This has occurred a few times today creating a safety hazard for the occupants of my vehicle and other drivers as I have lost visibility on that side of the vehicle while on the road. I have re-opened the mirror and after a few mins it closes up on its own again. Upon contacting the dealer, they informed me that they don't have any available appointments until 11/15. I reached out to Genesis Corporate and they changed my service dealership. I also informed them of what occurred. I have contacted 2 other dealership to obtain a quick appointment and there is no appointments available.

I do not know exactly what component failed. All I know is that the vehicle lost power while my wife was driving our children to school at around 8:15 A.M. on February 24, 2026. The vehicle slowed down on its own and could not accelerate when my wife pushed on the gas pedal. There were no warning or check engine lights on the dashboard. Luckily, this happened in a residential neighborhood where traffic is low. This could have caused an accident and/or fatalities if she was driving on busy street or a highway at the time. I contacted Genesis Customer Care. They scheduled me for a service appointment to get the vehicle checked. The vehicle was checked for codes, but nothing came up. They checked the vehicle log but did not find any clues. They told me that everything was normal and they assumed that it was most likely due to an over-the-air update that caused a system reboot. I believe the problem still exists and that it is a matter of time before it happens again.
Both of my front headlights get condensation to the point of droplets every time it rains, or I go through the car wash. My car is a 2024. Genesis has implied that it is "normal" after I contacted my dealer in Richmond, Virginia. I am retired, so I don't usually drive a night. Would having fogged out lens degrade the performance of my headlights? I'm [XXX] and owned many cars. This is the first brand new car that has had this issue. It should be noted that the lens do clear up after the sun hits them for a few days. My car is not garaged so it is exposed to the rain. Car as purchased new has a loud downing sound that makes it difficult to hear traffic around you. When it happens, it scares the crap out of you. This could lead to an accident. Would like to add video to show how un-safe it it.

2024 GV70 makes loud noise (whirling, whoosing type) at highways speeds 65-70 mph. Noise was present immediately after purchase, intermittently, and became more constant but only at highway speeds. At first it sounded like it may be coming from under car, but localized to top of car sunroof area after some months. Dealer uncooperative about repairs. Inspected three times with no current resolution, although the tech agreed on test drive he did hear the noise complaint at highway speeds.

"Hey tbh, I was debating between a 2024 gv70 and a Lexus RX350. The Lexus felt like the safer but more boring option. The GV70 was love at first sight and the test drive was brilliant. I was apprehensive about it coz of the new badge but was a zillion times more fun to drive and sit in compared to the old boring style that Lexus adopts. However, I did decide on the gv70 coz of the full warranty and bumper to bumper service as that’s what gave me the edge and peace of mind over Lexus tried and tested reliability. I’ve the least two years and 30 k kms, it still drives like new and th e only issue I had was a frozen screen which the warranty took care of in a day."
"Best distance I’ve experienced with the GV70EV so far on a single charge - 262 miles. Had to drive to Los Angeles and back…charged to 95%. That was a round trip of about 190 miles….probably averaged about 50 mph. The remaining 70+ miles is around town driving. Was about 8% SOC when I finally recharged. When I started, the range estimate was 283 miles. So, I drove 262 miles and used 263 miles of range. That’s the first time the estimated distance was this accurate…but I had to get 4.0 mi/kWh to get that close to the estimated range. I’m usually around 3 mi/kWh…so the car really over estimates. But, overall I’m very happy I saw 262 miles and probably had another 15 miles of range left. #### SebringSilver JoinedAug 18, 2021Messages959Reaction score844Points93LocationVancouver, CanadaGenesis Model Year2023Genesis Model TypeGenesis GV80"
"We drove from Greenville to Gastonia and back, a distance of 164 miles at interstate and boulevard speeds, soft rolling hills on a hot summer day. Speeds significantly reduced by heavy construction on parts of I-85. Stopped for lunch. Recharged at home with 54.3 kWh (70% of 77.4 kWh capacity) for 3.02 miles per kWh with 70 miles estimated remaining on a 100% charge. Range projected from recharge as 234 miles, or 187 on an 80% charge. Pretty much the EPA estimate, although speeds were somewhat lower and the vehicle had less than 1,000 miles on the battery. "Genesis gv70 2.5T advanced 2026 vs bmw x1 2025 vs glc 300 2025 Hi everyone! 👋 I’m considering buying a 2026 Genesis GV70 2.5T Advanced, but I don’t see many of them on the road and I’m unsure about long-term reliability and real cost of ownership. I really like the look, interior feel, and overall vibe of the GV70 — but I’m trying to understand whether maintenance/repairs end up being reasonable, or if it becomes expensive like BMW/Mercedes. My other contenders right now are: • Mercedes GLC (used 2025) • BMW X1 (used 2025) For those who own (or have owned) a GV70: • How has your reliability been so far? • What are the most common issues/problems people run into? • How is the Genesis dealership/service experience (appointments, loaners, service quality, etc.)? • Genesis offers a 10-year warranty for first owners — does it actually feel valuable in real life, or are there a lot of exceptions / “fine print” situations? This would be our second car. Our primary car is a Porsche Macan, and we’ve been really happy with it so far. Would love to hear real-world experiences before deciding. Thanks in advance! 🙏"
"My 2022 had many an issue, A/C hose crimped during assembly and not found by dealer, moisture in headlamp (twice). broken upper control arm, brakes, but the most annoying issue was the horn sucking and not blowing! They changed it 5 times. Ok, I admit I am a bit of a honky, but never had this issue with any other car in my 50 plus years of driving. Last week the low horn failed for the 2nd time on my 25! While this is a 1st world problem, I dont like the fact that my car sounds like a Shriners Circus clown car. #1· Apr 19, 2026 Bonjour fellow Genesis owners. I am on my 2nd GV70, this 1 being a 2025 plus. I got a good deal even though I was still far from the end of my previous lease termination date. "Wow, with that many issues I would have hard time staying dedicated enough to enter another lease obligation. That's interesting about the horn. I will have to check mine. My 2025 Sport Prestige is almost 15 months old and after 7,500 miles I don't think I have blown the horn yet. #4· Apr 21, 2026 #5· Apr 21, 2026 > Beemer said: > > Bonjour fellow Genesis owners.
