Is a low score bad?
Not always. A low score flags items to verify before buying — and often signals stronger value, since heavier discounts already price the risk in. See TrimIndex’s pre-purchase inspection →

Buyer brief · 280 words

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz EQE AMG EQE 4matic Plus has 220 miles of EPA range, 170 kW fast charging and a 86 kWh battery, and a worth-pursuing score, but only after a hard inspection and a fair price.

Score read

A 68/100 makes this a records-first inspection. The useful split is battery-health score at 88/100 versus range and efficiency score at 37/100. On Reddit, owners keep flagging the same two issues: build quality and range. A good score still needs a battery report, service history, and a normal test drive.

Price context

Bring your own comps Pull current comps before negotiating

This trim started from $97,550 new. Used examples have come down since launch, but pricing varies by miles, condition, and how the model is moving right now; pull a current KBB Fair Purchase, an Edmunds True Market Value, or an active dealer listing for this exact trim, and anchor your offer there. Walk if the seller will not move off new-car-style pricing.

Bargain hunter Best TCO, reliability + low depreciation

Gotchas

  • Built in Range is the easy place to overbuy this trim (37/100).

Mitigation Check your commute, winter margin, and fast-charge plan before you assume the EPA number fits your use.

  • Verify Current market pricing is not confirmed well enough for this trim.

Mitigation Compare KBB, J.D. Power, and live listings for the same trim before treating price as a buying signal.

Pre-purchase inspection

  • 1 Compare the dashboard range estimate with the EPA 220-mile rating after a full charge.
  • 2 Confirm how much of the 10-year/155,000-mile battery warranty remains and whether it transfers.
  • 3 If road trips matter, run a short DC fast-charge session and watch whether speed tapers normally.
  • 4 Map your normal highway route and winter margin against the EPA range before you treat it as a road-trip car.
  • 5 Review title, service history, tire condition, and charging-equipment records before final price.

The Financing Room · What Actually Happens

Dealers make ~$3,575 on the average car loan.

After the price is set, the finance manager runs four plays to rebuild margin. Every buyer without a pre-approval is a target. Here's exactly what they run — and what stops each one.

01 · Without pre-approval
Rate markup

78% of dealer loans carry a hidden +1.13% markup above what the lender actually charges. You never see it — it's buried in the contract. · CFPB

With pre-approval ↓
Rate is already locked

Dealer must match or beat your lender — they can't add margin invisibly. The markup play is dead on arrival.

02 · Without pre-approval
+$1,800
"What's your monthly budget?"

Once you answer, they stretch the term to hit your number. Median result: $4K less off the price, 12 more months on the loan. · Industry avg

With pre-approval ↓
One number to negotiate

Financing is done. Only the sale price is on the table — and the dealer knows it.

03 · Without pre-approval
+$1,775
GAP + extended warranty upsell

Back-office F&I profit averages $1,975/vehicle, up 8.5% YoY. These products exist — but dealer markup is 4–10x what you'd pay elsewhere. · Dealership Guy

With pre-approval ↓
You can shop it or skip it

Dealer GAP runs $500–1K. Your insurer sells the same coverage for $100–250 over 5 years. Now you know.

04 · Without pre-approval
Yo-yo / spot delivery

"Your loan fell through — come re-sign." This pulls your APR up +5% on average. It's legal. It works because you've already driven the car home. · Ctr for Responsible Lending

With pre-approval ↓
Financing already closed

A lender commitment letter means the deal is final. "Pending dealer approval" doesn't apply. You can't be yo-yo'd.

Margin handed to the dealer's finance department — for nothing.

Pre-approval is a soft credit inquiry — no score impact. FICO treats all auto-loan hard pulls within 14 days as one, so you can still shop rates at the dealer.

"Looking for EV or PHEV SUV Lease – Florida (Open to Brokers or Dealer Referrals). Looking for EV or PHEV SUV Lease – Florida (Open to Brokers or Dealer Referrals) Hi everyone, I’m based in Florida and currently looking to lease an EV or plug-in hybrid SUV. I’m open to anything comparable to the Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+, but I’ve already ruled out the EQB, as it’s too small for my needs. Here’s what I’ve run into so far: • Broward County is mostly AutoNation dealerships, and none of them are willing to negotiate. • Miami dealers are also primarily AutoNation and just as inflexible. • Bonita Springs quoted me over $1,400/month (36 months / 12k miles) for a 2025 EQE 350+ SUV—far too high. • Some dealers are even saying Mercedes is no longer leasing 2024 models, which makes things even more challenging. I’m open to: • 2024 or 2025 Mercedes-Benz EVs or PHEVs • Loaner/demo vehicles are absolutely fine. • Other vehicles in the same class • So far, MB seems to have the most aggressive lease programs. • Deals anywhere in Florida If you’ve recently secured a fair lease, or can recommend a reliable broker who’s gotten solid results in this market, I’d really appreciate your insight. Feel free to DM me or drop a contact. Thanks in advance!"

"According to consumer report the EQE and EQS get higher than their rated range on their 70 mph test and likely more in city driving which includes stop and go that allows recuperation to happen."

"If it is a grinding noise it might be a stone trapped against the hub backing plate. I've had it on other cars. It's usually worse with some lock on and it can spontaneously stop if the piece of grit falls out. If it's going in, they will investigate in any case. I had an adjustment issue crop up unexpectedly on both front seats. The squab could not be lowered or raised. All the other directions worked. They did a software update and that fixed it. Software reflashes or updates can often cure these little gremlins. #9· Apr 9, 2026 Thank you @Harry K . Here is the update: 1. The repairs completed & EQE came out from the dealer. 2. A control module for Seat & Steering column needed replacement - surfaces heating works now. 3. Pressure check of coolant system confirmed 'no leaks': coolant topped off - no warning message now. 4. There were some 'recalls'/software updates pending - a bunch of them were taken care off. 5. Dealer did not drive the vehicle to ascertain 'grinding noise' under 30mph. I was asked to drive for few days and come back if it persists. - Arial - Book Antiqua - Courier New - Georgia - Tahoma - Times New Roman - Trebuchet MS - Verdana Post Reply"

"I have purchased the EQE 350, 2023 - in less than 7 months, i have had my front windshield crack 3 times due to propelled debris off the highway on the 101.
