Buyer brief · 244 words

The 2024 Porsche Macan 4 Electric packs 308 miles of EPA range, 270 kW fast charging and a 95 kWh battery, and a mid-pack composite means the records-and-test-drive call matters more than the headline.

Score read

A 70/100 makes this worth comparing, not chasing. The useful split is software and driver-assist score at 100/100 versus owner feedback score at 50/100. Reddit threads cluster around range and build quality — verify both against the service records. If the seller cannot show recall completion, price that risk or move on.

Gotchas

  • Serviceable Recall paperwork has to match the exact VIN.

Mitigation Use NHTSA and the automaker lookup, then require repair records instead of a verbal promise.

  • Verify Owner feedback is the part to read carefully (50/100).

Mitigation Read the complaint themes and ask whether this VIN has already had those issues repaired.

Pre-purchase inspection

  • 1 Run the exact VIN through NHTSA and the automaker recall lookup before discussing price.
  • 2 Compare the dashboard range estimate with the EPA 308-mile rating after a full charge.
  • 3 Confirm how much of the 8-year/100,000-mile battery warranty remains and whether it transfers.
  • 4 If road trips matter, run a short DC fast-charge session and watch whether speed tapers normally.
  • 5 Read the complaint themes, not just the count, and ask the seller whether those issues have shown up on this VIN.

The contact owns a 2024 Porsche Macan GTS. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed with the Adaptive Cruise Control activated without other vehicles or objects nearby, the Forward Collision Avoidance system activated. Within seconds, the Forward Collision Avoidance: Automatic Emergency Braking briefly applied the brakes, jolting the vehicle slightly but not bringing it to a complete stop. Afterward, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The Forward Collision Avoidance warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the Adaptive Cruise Control radar sensor. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,000.

My car has intermittently triggered false collision warnings—approximately 8 to 10 times over ~8,500 miles. Each time, while driving between 20–40 mph with no visible obstacles, the system issued an orange collision alert, sounded an alarm, and abruptly applied the brakes. This sudden braking poses a serious safety risk, as it could cause a rear-end collision. The vehicle has been at the dealer for 14 days and remains there, as they’ve been unable to replicate the issue or find any stored fault codes.

I was driving at 40mph on a town road on a dry, sunny day when, without warning, the brakes slammed on extremely forcefully, almost to a full stop, and a big triangle showed on the dashboard with the words COLLISION WARNING. I don’t recall if there was an audible alarm or not. The warning disappeared and the car resumed forward motion almost as quickly as it had appeared. My body jolted forward against my seat belt and items on the passenger seat went flying forward and fell on the floor. There were no other cars on the road at the time but, if there had been anyone in back of me, it very well could have caused an accident. My neck and chest are quite sore the day after this happened. I stopped the car and walked around outside and did not see anything out of the ordinary - nothing in the road either. It was a paved secondary road without potholes in the immediate vicinity. The dealership will be picking up the car to inspect it and implement an “alert” upgrade service for the front camera system that may or may not have any connection to the problem.

Steering Gear. It has been replaced and is not available to inspect. I was unable to turn the steering wheel and had an auto accident as a result. The dealer inspected the vehicle and replaced the steering gear under warranty. It is probable that the defective gear was sent by the dealer to the manufacturer to inspect. The warning lamps activated after the accident.

The car's power brake system stopped working. We did not incur an accident just because we found a side road before the upcoming traffic light; otherwise, it would have been a disaster. This car also had other software issues, but it was not as alarming. We believe driving is unsafe. The manufacturer is offering a payment to get back that car and drive it. Still, unless the competent authorities take responsibility for checking that the Porsche Macan EV is safe to drive, our family will not be Porsche's guinea pig. We did not get into an accident just for pure luck, but what will happen if the issue occurs again? The car is under warranty, but another power brake failure can be fatal. It is not an easy position to be in.

Collion Warning alarm came on with full application of brakes with no vehicles in front or behind. No onward traffic either. Visibility was clear, and driving conditions good. Driving at 35-40 mph. Informed dealer three times (and three different individuals) on December 31 and despite a bevy of promises they have taken no action. Placed warning on Macan.com and several other (purported) owners claimed to have experienced an identical issue. This is self-evidently highly dangerous. Lack of responsivess from Porsche dealer [XXX] ) has also been derisable. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I was driving home in my 2024 Porsche Macan 4 EV, at about 65 miles per hour on a divided highway. I had my climate control set to 75 degrees on both the driver and passenger side of the vehicle. I believe that the air conditioning was set to off. I also had the drivers seat heated at the max setting. I was alone in my vehicle. It was the first time since I owned my Macan that I had set the heat to that temperature. Approximately 10 minutes into my drive on the highway, I started smelling an acrid smell. I assumed that the smell was coming from outside of my vehicle. I could smell the acrid smell, however, I could not see the source of the smell. Then, I started seeing a very light gray or white smoke coming out of the defroster vents at the base of the windshield. The amount of smoke wasn’t overpowering however, I was concerned if the vehicle was going to catch fire. I opened the driver‘s window in an effort to let the smoke get out of the vehicle. The smoke and the acrid smell lasted perhaps 20 seconds or so; I can’t say for sure. I drove perhaps another five minutes on the highway to my exit and happened to be near my former Porsche dealer. I brought the vehicle to a halt in their parking lot away from other vehicles. I opened up the front trunk and looked for any issues and attempted to find any hot areas in that front trunk. I could not locate anything unusual. I then drove another 10 minutes to get home and parked the Porsche on my driveway. I didn’t experience any further issues this evening. While searching online for individuals experiencing a similar issue, it appears that the issue results from a defective passenger compartment electric heater (ZX17), detailed here: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2025/MC-11017831-0001.pdf I will continue to monitor this in the next few days.

"#1· Jan 6, 2025 I had the opportunity to test drive the Porsche Macan 4 Electric for a few days and took the opportunity to take it up north in Sweden to see how it would perform. "**Overall impression**. A really nice car, I personally like the exterior and interior design. Interior looks modern (good improvement from previous generation of Macan), has good tech and build quality is as you expect from a Porsche (very good, with a few minor exceptions). Backseat a bit cramped if you are taller than 190 cm. Impressive boot capacity of 540 liters for a mid-sized coupe SUV. **Driving experience and handling**. Great on both snow/ice and tarmac, extremely stable and predictable. Does not have a one pedal drive or adjustable regen (I do not have an EV as my daily driver, so for me the driving experience was “familiar”). Actually feels and handles like a proper sporty SUV. Would have been great with a bit better range. The price of c. 85 000 EUR (in Sweden) for the Macan 4 feels a bit steep. "About to buy my first Porsche: Question about Build quality (interior, rattles, etc) Hey everyone... Thought it's about time to join :) I have bought AMG's for the last couple years, and don't get me wrong I still love them, but don't like where they are going now. I kept 2 of my Favs (AMG GTR, old C63s). Now, I have ALWAYS wanted to try Porsche, so I have been getting into the Macan GTS a lot, and seems like a great car to test the waters in the Porsche family :) By big question. Build quality. My pet peeve.... Even with Mercedes like the 2022 CLA45, 2022 CLS53, etc... you get issues with interior creaks and rattles. It drives me absolutely crazy lol. For example, I had a 2022 CLS53... AWESOME car, but the driver side mirror rattles whenever I go over a bump, and the seat plastics creek. Unfortunate for a $100k car... The CLA45... Pretty much every thing rattled lol. The door panels rattled like a old BMW, and the rear trunk rattled whenever the car was warming up... You can't even turn the base up because it sounds like the interior is gonna fall apart (it was a new, 2022 lol) Sooooo... my question is: Will I be disappointed in a 2023 Porsche Macan GTS, in terms of build quality such as dashboards rattling or door panels creaking and rattling? I always hear about Porsche and their amazing build quality... Does that extend to the interior? As in, nothing is gonna rattle? Has anyone bought a new Macan GTS and noticed certain things rattling etc? I hope that makes sense ha. Appreciate any input 📷 Thanks!"
