Not always. A low score flags items to verify before buying — and often signals stronger value, since heavier discounts already price the risk in. See TrimIndex’s pre-purchase inspection →

2024 Audi Q8 e-tron Sportback e-tron ultra quattro: a mid-pack composite means the records-and-test-drive call matters more than the headline.

Score read

A 66/100 makes this worth comparing, not chasing. Build quality score is the cleaner read at 84/100; owner feedback score needs more diligence at 48/100. Reddit threads cluster around owner satisfaction and range — verify both against the service records. A clean VIN lookup matters more than the headline count.

Price context

Bring your own comps Pull current comps before negotiating

This trim started from $77,800 new. Used examples have come down since launch, but pricing varies by miles, condition, and how the model is moving right now; pull a current KBB Fair Purchase, an Edmunds True Market Value, or an active dealer listing for this exact trim, and anchor your offer there. Walk if the seller will not move off new-car-style pricing.

Gotchas

  • Serviceable Recall paperwork has to match the exact VIN.

Mitigation Use NHTSA and the automaker lookup, then require repair records instead of a verbal promise.

  • Verify Owner feedback is the part to read carefully (48/100).

Mitigation Read the complaint themes and ask whether this VIN has already had those issues repaired.

  • Verify Current market pricing is not confirmed well enough for this trim.

Mitigation Compare KBB, J.D. Power, and live listings for the same trim before treating price as a buying signal.

Pre-purchase inspection

  • 1 Run the exact VIN through NHTSA and the automaker recall lookup before discussing price.
  • 2 Compare the dashboard range estimate with the EPA 300-mile rating after a full charge.
  • 3 Confirm how much of the 8-year/100,000-mile battery warranty remains and whether it transfers.
  • 4 If road trips matter, run a short DC fast-charge session and watch whether speed tapers normally.
  • 5 Read the complaint themes, not just the count, and ask the seller whether those issues have shown up on this VIN.

The Financing Room · What Actually Happens

Dealers make ~$10,520 on the average car loan.

After the price is set, the finance manager runs four plays to rebuild margin. Every buyer without a pre-approval is a target. Here's exactly what they run — and what stops each one.

01 · Without pre-approval
+$1,280
Rate markup

78% of dealer loans carry a hidden +1.13% markup above what the lender actually charges. You never see it — it's buried in the contract. · CFPB

With pre-approval ↓
Rate is already locked

Dealer must match or beat your lender — they can't add margin invisibly. The markup play is dead on arrival.

02 · Without pre-approval

"What's your monthly budget?"

Once you answer, they stretch the term to hit your number. Median result: $4K less off the price, 12 more months on the loan. · Industry avg

One number to negotiate

Financing is done. Only the sale price is on the table — and the dealer knows it.

03 · Without pre-approval

GAP + extended warranty upsell

Back-office F&I profit averages $1,975/vehicle, up 8.5% YoY. These products exist — but dealer markup is 4–10x what you'd pay elsewhere. · Dealership Guy

You can shop it or skip it

Dealer GAP runs $500–1K. Your insurer sells the same coverage for $100–250 over 5 years. Now you know.

"Your loan fell through — come re-sign." This pulls your APR up +5% on average. It's legal. It works because you've already driven the car home. · Ctr for Responsible Lending

A lender commitment letter means the deal is final. "Pending dealer approval" doesn't apply. You can't be yo-yo'd.

Campaign #24V428000

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2024 Audi Q8 Sportback E-Tron Quattro and Q8 E-Tron Quattro vehicles. The brake line connection may have been over-tightened and fail, resulting in a brake fluid leak and reduced braking ability.

Reduced braking ability can cause longer brake pedal travel or extend the distance required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

"~2 years in the Twin Cities here with my ‘24 Q8 e-tron. My commute is ~25 miles each way, 3-4 times per week. I charge at home with a level 2 charger. I basically just charge it nightly whether it needs it or not and leave it capped at 80% unless I’m planning a longer trip or know I’ll need to drive a few days without easy access to a charger. The range drop is real but hasn’t been as bad for me as others report, probably more like 25% loss. But I’m parking in a heated garage at night and the ramp at work is underground and stays around 50F even in the winter. Preconditioning helps. The biggest “aha” for me was realizing how much range can be affected by running the heater, heated seats, defrosters, etc. It hasn’t ever caused me any range issues, it’s just interesting to see the effect. I haven’t really experienced any range anxiety, even in the winter. There just aren’t many/any situations where I need to go 200 miles in a single drive with it (and we have a Q5e PHEV for longer drives if needed). Overall, it’s been a game changer driving an EV for my daily commute needs. I can never go back to needing gas on a regular basis. My lease will be up in a year and I’ll definitely buy an EV for long term ownership then. My complaints are more about the software in current gen Audis than anything specific to EVs. So, I’ll probably shop around a bit before deciding on a brand. Oh, and be sure to get snow tires for the winter!"

"Audi jumping on the Dakar bandwagon New Audi Q8 e-tron Dakar Edition 2024 review: EV SUV with off-road upgrade The Q8 e-tron SUV has diversified for a new off-road-focused Dakar Edition that could be popular in the UK, if Audi decides to sell it The Audi Q8 e-tron has been a staple model in the range since 2019, but until now its off-roading ability has been considered theoretical, at best. However, keen to draw some connection to the brand’s exploits in the famed Dakar Rally, it has created the rugged looking Q8 e-tron Dakar Edition for a small production run that throws more than a few off-road toys at the recently updated electric SUV. From a technical perspective, the Dakar Edition is based on the Q8 e-tron 55 quattro, with the same dual-motor setup producing 394bhp and a chunky 664Nm of torque. This is fed by the same uprated 106kWh (usable) battery pack as the standard car. While range has yet to be tested, the higher drag levels – thanks to many of its new off-road elements – will almost certainly mean a reduction compared with the standard model’s 330-mile maximum. Despite its low-volume status, there has been a surprising number of technical changes that facilitate some serious off-road capability. This starts with a recalibrated air-suspension system that in its default Allroad setting sits 65mm higher than a standard Q8 e-tron. In its most capable Offroad mode, the ride height extends a further 30mm, which is noticeable both in terms of design and the driving position. The Dakar Edition also features a 57mm-wider track and bespoke 18-inch wheels wrapped in rugged all-terrain tyres. A set of 20-inch wheels with conventional rubber is also available, but either way sit in the slightly wider SQ8 e-tron’s arches, finished in a contrasting Mythos black paint. The cars we drove were fitted with the optional Dakar wrap, which will be limited to 99 units for production. All cars are fitted with a rugged roof-carrier system, with a spare tyre mounted on top. Changes inside are more subtle, with black leather and contrasting red stitching fitted as standard. The red-striped seatbelts borrowed from Audi’s RS models are a nice touch, but everything is still superbly constructed with high quality materials as before. Audi has also fitted bespoke graphics to the touchscreen, and the car’s floor mats are now made from a hardy black rubber – which was especially useful at our test location inside a dry river canyon on Oman’s south coast. Our limited amount of time on tarmac confirmed the only major difference to the standard car is an increase in road noise from the all-terrain tyres. This is otherwise a controlled and well sorted driving experience with accurate steering, excellent calibration for the throttle and brake pedal, and good ride quality. However i"

"207 units of Audi Q8 e-tron and e-tron Sportback Recalled in India # Audi Recalls 207 e-tron and Q8 e-tron EVs in India for Brake Issue! Audi India has announced a service campaign affecting several of its premium electric vehicles. This proactive recall addresses a potential safety concern related to the braking system in these high-end EVs. **Key Takeaways** - Audi India is recalling 207 units of its electric vehicles. - The affected models include the e-tron, e-tron Sportback, Q8 e-tron, and Q8 e-tron Sportback. - These specific EVs were manufactured between February 2018 and June 2024. - The identified issue is a potential loosening of the bolted connection for the brake servo push rod, which could compromise the mechanical link between the brake pedal and the servo. - Audi confirms that affected vehicles are equipped with a controlled emergency braking function, accessible via the electronic parking brake button, should the primary system fail. **Pros** - Audi is proactively addressing a potential safety concern, showing commitment to customer safety. - All inspections and necessary rectifications will be performed free of charge for the owners. **Cons** - A critical brake system recall on premium EVs can be a major inconvenience for owners. - It might raise questions about the quality control standards and long-term reliability perception of luxury EVs in the Indian market. **Discussion Question** Does this recall affect your perception of luxury EV reliability in India, or do you see it as a transparent and necessary step for consumer safety from a premium brand?"

"Wipers replacement for Audi Q8 eTron Sportback ETron owners, please share your experience with wiper replacement. I want to find another brand that works with Audi Q8 eTron 2024 sportback (26” and 20”). Mine are a year old and are jumping on the screen which in my opinion is absurd and want to see alternatives."

"Q8 e-tron weather mats Hello, I am the owner of a 2024 Q8 etron and I am in need of all weather mats for my vehicle. I'm looking for floor mats for my Audi Q8 e-tron, but I'm struggling to find the correct size. I noticed that Audi sells liners specifically for the Q8 e-tron, but the price is outrageous—$210 for a single mat! Link: Does anyone know if the regular Q8 mats fit the Q8 e-tron? I've had trouble finding properly fitting mats on Amazon, which is why I'm considering buying directly from Audi. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! NOTES: If any1 is stumbling upon this post in the future, this is key to note: 1. Majority of floor mats you can buy off ebay and amazon will NOT fit. Even if they EXPLICITLY say for Q8 e-tron 2024. If you do wish to purchase thru this method, plz msg sellers to verify that it will indeed fit and the return policy allows for free returns. This is becuz this is a low volume product, many sellers from Turkey do not know the difference and do not care (cost them like 10$ to make a mat they sell for \~100$). 2. If you are shopping around, try different Audi Dealerships in countries. Audi Rockville has the cheapest prices (all around) from what I have seen, although you have to pay for shipping. AVOID Audi Henderson at all costs, their prices are absurd, 100-200% HIGHER than other shops for the same product. 3. I am not 100%, but I believe the Q8 e-tron and Q8 regular mats are not compatible. The lock location for the front mat is at different spots. I do think the rear mats are the same, but I am not 100% sure of this (plz verify for yourself)."

"Be prepared for range to drop up to 40% in very cold weather (battery + heating cost). I've been through a couple of below-zero winters with mine. Commute should be fine if you charge frequently at a level 2+ charger. A level 1 charger won't be able to keep up in the winter. At home charging makes all the difference, especially in the winter. Public chargers are expensive. In the winter, I plug mine in almost every night for several reasons: tops off the charge, lets me turn on the climate control early with no battery penalty (the car is 72 degrees and the seats are warm when I get in), and the battery is more efficient when it's warm. Handling is great in the winter - Audi quattro is excellent. Keep in mind that EVs are HEAVY and AWD doesn't magically stop all that weight any faster. Most EVs, and especially Audi EVs, depreciate a lot so I wouldn't buy new. For Audis I'd say the motor warranty is more important than the battery warranty, but both are important. Personally I wouldn't buy one unless both warranties last at least as long as I plan to own it."
