The 2025 Kia EV6 Long Range RWD is rated at 225 hp, 319 miles of EPA range and a 74 kWh battery, and a mid-pack composite means the records-and-test-drive call matters more than the headline.
Score read
A 74/100 makes this worth pursuing if the price is sane. Do not let the composite hide this split: build quality score is 87/100, while owner feedback score is 61/100. Reddit threads cluster around software tech and owner satisfaction — verify both against the service records. The remaining risk is ordinary used-car diligence: battery report, tires, title, and records.
Is it a good deal?
Used examples are running around $44,375 against a $46,200 original sticker, about 96% of new. At that money you want cleaner-than-average service records, completed recall paperwork, and a recent battery report before you sign.

Gotchas
- Verify Owner feedback is the part to read carefully (61/100).
Mitigation Read the complaint themes and ask whether this VIN has already had those issues repaired.
Pre-purchase inspection
- 1 Compare the dashboard range estimate with the EPA 319-mile rating after a full charge.
- 2 Confirm how much of the 10-year/100,000-mile battery warranty remains and whether it transfers.
- 3 If road trips matter, run a short DC fast-charge session and watch whether speed tapers normally.
- 4 Read the complaint themes, not just the count, and ask the seller whether those issues have shown up on this VIN.
- 5 Review title, service history, tire condition, and charging-equipment records before final price.
No recall records in this scan That helps the shortlist, but it does not replace a VIN lookup, battery report, and service-history check.

Dealers make ~$11,654 on the average car loan.
After the price is set, the finance manager runs four plays to rebuild margin. Every buyer without a pre-approval is a target. Here's exactly what they run — and what stops each one.
78% of dealer loans carry a hidden +1.13% markup above what the lender actually charges. You never see it — it's buried in the contract. · CFPB
Dealer must match or beat your lender — they can't add margin invisibly. The markup play is dead on arrival.
Once you answer, they stretch the term to hit your number. Median result: $4K less off the price, 12 more months on the loan. · Industry avg
Financing is done. Only the sale price is on the table — and the dealer knows it.
Back-office F&I profit averages $1,975/vehicle, up 8.5% YoY. These products exist — but dealer markup is 4–10x what you'd pay elsewhere. · Dealership Guy
Dealer GAP runs $500–1K. Your insurer sells the same coverage for $100–250 over 5 years. Now you know.
"Your loan fell through — come re-sign." This pulls your APR up +5% on average. It's legal. It works because you've already driven the car home. · Ctr for Responsible Lending
A lender commitment letter means the deal is final. "Pending dealer approval" doesn't apply. You can't be yo-yo'd.
That's 18 months of your car payment — handed to the dealer's finance department for nothing.
Takes 2 minutes. No obligation to use it — but you'll walk in with all the leverage.
Pre-approval is a soft credit inquiry — no score impact. FICO treats all auto-loan hard pulls within 14 days as one, so you can still shop rates at the dealer.

I was driving over to walk my friends dog and I was pulling into the overflow parking area and my car just speed up and it would not stop. I went up a curb and I hit a small tree went down another curb crossed the street and then up another curb and the break would not stop the car. I finally just cut the car off

Loud pop and Check Electrical System Message - limited ability to drive due to ICCU no longer charging 12V battery. Car no longer able to drive.
While driving Friday 4/17/26, I heard a pop and the car displayed a message to "Check electric vehicle system." The car seemed to still drive so I drive it home. That evening the car would not charge. I called Jim Shorkey Kia on 4/18/26, where I bought the car, to schedule the car to be looked at. They told me to bring it in on Monday and they will try to squeeze me in so they can diagnose the issue. Later that morning, I took that car out and made it about a block away before the car displayed a new message to "Stop vehicle and check power supply." At this point, the car went into a limp mode, barely moving. I was able to turn around and drive it home. Had I been on the highway, I might have been put in a dangerous situation. Now that the car has been diagnosed, the service department called and told me that the failed component was the ICCU. From what I've read, Kia claims that 1% of cars suffer from this issue. However, this percentage seems unlikely due to the number of online complaints. I wanted my experience to be an official documented case of this since I've heard that Kia has issued limited recalls in other countries and on older model Kia EV6's in the US.

ICCU and fuse failure when it was being moved out from the garage. Got a “Check electrical system” notification when I turned it on following a level 2 charge the night before. It was with the dealer for exactly one month before I was able to pick it back up.

While driving on a sunny day on a 35mph road, my dashboard reported “Check Electrical Vehicle System”. A red battery symbol appeared and my cruise control disengaged with a message “requirements not met”. When I got home I read my 12 volt battery monitor that reported the battery was 11.99v and only had a 60% state of charge. Just prior to this short drive from home, my battery was 12.77v and had a 100% state of charge. I put in my ODB reader and it provided two error codes: P1A9096 and P1A961C. The first error code is the result of an ICCU failure in its DC to DC circuit (the one that charges the 12V battery from traction battery). Using a battery charger, I was able to fully recharge the 12volt battery. My monitor says that it’s healthy with 100% state of charge. Turning the car back on resulted in a rapid drain of the battery from 100% to 93% in just five minutes while parked. The electrical system failure warning lights are still lit. I’m having my car towed for repair. If this failure had occurred more than 10 minutes from my home, I would’ve been stranded.

ICCU failure. Car lost power while driving. I heard a "pop" sound and then the car displayed a warning light moments before losing power. Car was towed to the dealership where they diagnosed and replaced the ICCU and a fuse. This is a known problem since the 2022 model year and seems to be a very common failure that the manufacturer is unable definitively repair. Thankfully I was on a local street and not on a highspeed highway when this occurred.

The ICCU unit failed and the car first slowed and then stopped. I was able to pull off the road at an intersection. A tow truck had to jump charge the battery to allow the car to be shifted into neutral in order to pull it onto the tow truck.

I was driving my car and the stop immediately and check battery sign came on. I had to have my car towed to the dealership. I read that the ev6 have ICCU problems and commonly need to be replaced. The car lost all acceleration and power and eventually stopped moving all together.

Car has an NACS charger port, and is advertised by KIA as compatible with Tesla Superchargers and home chargers. The car will not charge at a supercharger nor at home using a Tesla charge cord that works with a Tesla Model 3.

ICCU failure within three (3) days of buying vehicle. Only 300 miles on it. Failed to charge with known working Level 1 charger on day 1, successfully charged with Level 3 charger on day 2, and then failed to charge at same Level 3 charger on day 3. Simply connecting the Level 3 charger on day 3 had the car emitting "charger errors", and then followed that up with an "On board charger" fault. Vehicle no longer charges. Returned to dealer for repair.

When shifting from reverse to drive there was a loud pop towards the back up the car. A check electrical system warning popped up, and then eventually a Check Power Supply stop now warning came up. The vehicle would not go above 26MPH and had to be stopped in a parking lot to be towed to the dealership. The ICCU went out and needed to be replaced, was at the dealership for 2 weeks for replacement.

ICCU failure. Pulled out of driveway, heard a pop, received warning to pull over and check vehicle power. Car had to be towed to dealership but they are experiencing so many of these failures that they are extremely backed up on even being able to check out the car.

The ICCU unit failed. Limited speed and no charging capabilities. The Dealer has been informed and an appointment has been made 3 weeks out as they are too busy. The ICCU has not been inspected yet. No warning lamps or messages appeared before the problem started. After a loud POP or bang in the rear of the car 1 warning light appeared and 1 message. (See Attached) POP happened at 16:15 hrs on the attached graph.

I was reversing my car in the parking lot and I heard a pop. Immediately I had a check electrical system warning. Preceding this the car was doing things which may have implied issues with the 12 V battery. Occasionally walking up to the car would not automatically open the car. Or other times, touching the driver handle did not unlock the car. The car is now at the dealership. They have confirmed failure of the HV fuse, ICCU failure, which also blew the 12 v battery. They have ordered the parts but it is currently on back order. The car could drive but after looking up this issue if the 12 v battery had drained it would have been inoperable.

Started my car while I was out and heard a pop sound. Warning message appeared saying "check electrical vehicle system". I was able to drive but when getting onto the freeway, I started to lose acceleration and go into limp mode. I pulled over on the freeway and had to get car towed to dealership. Dealership service center confirmed that my ICCU part failed. The vehicle to my knowledge hasn't been viewed by anyone other than the dealership.

I charged overnight at work. When leaving I heard a loud pop and the check EV system light came one. The vehicle would no longer drive over 40mph. I made it a mile and it dropped to 20mph. The dealership has had my car for over a week. From research it seems to be the ICCU as many others have had problems with.

Before I received this call, there was a software update done on the EV6 (see service records) I attached 2 photos of the software update as well. ICCU ASSY was replaced, etc. was told per Shorkey Kia since there are no issues with my EV6, as of Friday when they initially called to say my vehicle was ready for pick up, Kia considers my problem resolved. I have my car, no codes visible now.

prior case 11708370 filed 1/2/2026 spoke with [XXX] 1/22/2026. Friday 2/6/2026 Shorkey Kia Wexford calls and tells me my EV6 is fixed I can pick it up. I go into the Kia App and still have the same 3 codes as before; P056216 VCU, C160404 FR_Radar, and C28B186 ADAS_DRV. I tell them later that day when I had time to open the app to make sure the codes were corrected, called them back and said until these codes are cleared, my vehicle is not fixed. Tuesday 2/10/2026 I get a called from same person at Shorkey Kia in Wexford, telling me my vehicle is fixed, I can pick up my vehicle, same person her name is Maggie. I told Maggie to hold while I bring up the Kia app, I still see the same 3 codes: P056216, C160404, C28B186. I told her the codes are still active, and as long as these codes are present, the car isn’t fixed. She wouldn’t tell me what was done to the car, so I don’t know if the ICCU was replaced or not. However from browsing the EV6 Owners USA group, [XXX] had the same issue, and his car was fixed per whatever Kia place that is around him. I have experienced a ICCU failure at 7200 miles on my 2025 EV6 GT Line. This failure is a safety hazard as it will quickly disable the vehicle and strand the occupants wherever they be at the time of failure. (highway, back roads, day or night). There are warning lights when this occurs, but there is a very limited time to get to safety, depending on the state of charge of the onboard 12v battery. This issue has been ongoing since this vehicle came out in 2022. There have been a number of recalls to address the problem, but apparently without success. I see postings all the time with others experiencing this failure. When I inquired about the availability of the replacement ICCU, I was told that the part was on national back order. I was also told there were 147 units in transit, 47 were already spoken for. This seems to indicate that this is a very common issue, affecting many drivers.

Failure to charge properly on both alternating current and direct current platforms. Trips electrical breakers at residence while charging at home on AC current. The vehicle will only DC fast charge for a few minutes before charge session is prematurely terminated. I have been told by the KIA that it is a failure in the integrated charge control unit (ICCU). They told me there were 47 current problems right now in the state of Tennessee. I have not been issued a recall at this time. The logistics for getting a new ICCU could 2 weeks or greater. This problem could be catastrophic on long road trips.

While driving on a busy road at night, my vehicle displayed battery warning lights and went into "limp mode" which slowed me down to 25 mph before stopping completely. I was then stranded until a tow truck could be dispatched. The Kia dealer told me that the issue was an ICCU (integrated charging control unit) which they have to order. I have since learned that this issue is known and is common.

Erratic behavior before pulling out of parking lot: STOP vehicle check power, check 12V battery Stop safely engage parking brake. All dash lights started flashing, going black, power couldn’t be maintained, thankfully not on highway yet. Complete car failure, had to have 2025 EV6 jumped 4 times, battery still showed 41% charged, couldn’t keep charge to even get car in neutral for tow or doors locked. After each jump from tow company, power would last for less than 3-5 seconds, then dead, completely dead vehicle nothing worked.

I was driving on the highway when I heard a pop like a loud fuse sound from the back seat area. Suddenly the car dropped 15 mph from 70 mph to 55 mph and the battery and electrical system warning lights came on and the vehicle said check electrical system. I was able to continue with my hazard lights on to exit the highway, at which point the max speed of the vehicle dropped to 45 mph. It would not go faster no matter how hard I pushed the gas pedal. I was able to pull over to a gas station and park in a spot but the vehicle had to be towed. When the tow truck arrived, the vehicle also flashed with the 12V battery low warning. It was diagnosed as a failed ICCU, which rapidly drained the 12V battery. The car is only 4 months old with about 7,300 miles. This is a serious safety concern, especially with the sudden failure and loss of power. I’m lucky I wasn’t hit and that I was able to get off the road before it totally died.

After 2474 miles, the vehicle Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) failed in my 2025 Kia EV6 making the vehicle undrivable so it had to be towed to the Kia dealer. The ICCU was replaced under warranty. The failure of the ICCU in Kia, Hyundai and Genesis electric vehicles is fairly common and they have yet to come up with a permanent solution.

Driving down local (residential) roads, the ICCU died; towed to dealership 12/3/2025. All 12 volt electrical was inoperable. So no hazard lights, no shift to neutral, no locking the doors. It was towed to the dealer. ICCU is now being ordered. The Master Warning light and 12V battery warning light illuminated. I was fortunate to be able to park in a parking lot just before all electrical died. An Internet search shows that this is a known issue; and, even after the replacement the situation can happen again. Took delivery 6/28/25. So, not even 6 months old.

On 2025-11-12, my car got BMS error P1B9700. On 2025-11-13, I took the car to local Kia dealer. The error is for battery temperature sensor. After 1 week, thst sensor have not been replaced nor any other numerous minor electrical defects were fixed. My car was just parked in dealer lot the whole time. No communication from Kia or dealer how to fix this potentionly dangerous battery problem.

Issue Description: When parking facing downhill, I put the car in reverse but the car rolls forward. Feels like the car is either in drive or neutral. Concern is intermittent, and I confirmed each time it happens, gear selector is in reverse. When trying to re-engage reverse, the display shows "gear already selected." Safety risk: Car almost hit car in front of us while trying to reverse. Car was inspected by dealer service center. Could not duplicate, but found an error code. Dealership found multiple software updates available on the brand new car and installed.

Power completely dropped while driving in traffic. This occurred several times. I could have easily been rear ended. Also, I could have been stuck within an intersection, I could have been broadsided. I see researched this issue and found it was widely written about in KIA EV6 online forums. Kia should have checked for issues before I leased the 2025 EV and informed me before I made a decision to lease vehicle. This occured in first weeks I drove the new car.

ICCU failure caused loss of power on interstate. I almost got in a wreck because of this. Kia dealer refused to look at my car. Took vehicle to independent repair shop who diagnosed issue.

KIA has created a safety hazard by removing the ability for the driver to select LIGHT or DARK mode for the two 7" data and infotainment screens in their 2025 and forward EV6 electric cars. Like many, I have to drive in very fast busy commuter traffic on highway I-66. (exaserbated by driving into the sun in the AM) The DARK mode screens have insufficient contrast even with the screen lighting turned all the way up. It takes the drivers eyes away from the road longer than is safe, particularly in high speed freeway commuter traffic. This is seriously exacerbated if the driver uses sunglasses because of the sun. This is obviously not an issue confined to highway I-66, or me.

Windshield cracking on new Kia EV6 with only 2700 miles. Was 53 degrees outside so no defroster excuse. Seems to be a stress crack and looking online in KIA EV6 Forums, I've noticed it is not a one-off problem as many owners have had to deal with this.

The rear door of my KIA EV6 intermittently fails to open even when the vehicle is unlocked. The issue has been recorded on video and reported to an authorized KIA dealer, but it has not been repaired. A child safety seat is installed in the rear seat, and this defect creates a serious safety risk in an emergency where immediate access to the child is required. The vehicle is unsafe due to this defect.

Some initial thoughts: The range is fantastic, on an initial 130 mile drive to Atlanta on the interstate I calculated 86% range utilization with the cruise control set at 75mph."
"EV6 Thoughts: 3 months and over 5,000 miles later I figured I'd share some thoughts now that I've had my Kia EV6 RWD Wind for 3 months and have put 5,600+ miles on the car. Overall, I love the car. I have been very happy with performance, range, build quality and overall usability of the car for me and my family. With gas prices up over $5.25 here in Vegas, we take the EV6 for every possible excursion. (Other car is a Jeep Grand Cherokee that we are waiting on a Rivian R1S to replace) When I had solar panels installed on our home a year ago, I had an EV charger installed as part of that process. I charge up to 80% state of charge basically every night and the guess-o-meter says we have roughly 220-250 miles of range every time. I and my wife tend to keep the car in Eco mode all the time. We aren't speed demons and even in Eco mode, the power output by the car is more than enough for us. **Road trip** We have taken the EV6 on one rad trip to San Diego for 4 days. This required one EA charging stop in Barstow on the way down, and then 2 charging stops on the way back, one in Ontario, CA and one in Baker. Overall, the experience with Electrify America was good, but not amazing. The stop in Barstow on the way down only had one other car (another EV6) and I was able to grab a 350kw charger and the EV6 performed as I expected. I ripped from 38% to 81% in exactly 15 minutes, maxing out at 255kw. On the return trip at Ontario, I was blocked out of the 350kw stations and had to settle for 150kw. I let the car charge to 90% at this session after rolling into the charger at 4%. Total session was 40 minutes (wife got sidetracked at the mall, so my original plan to charge to 80% turned into 90%) I still managed to pull 170kw when I first plugged into the EA charger. The final stop was in Baker. While this charger has a nice covering, only 4 of the chargers are 150kw, the rest are 50kw. The first cable I tried with a charger capped the charging speed to 40kw. I moved to another charger and was able to get the full 150kw. At this stop is where I discovered a disappointing quirk of the EV6. As this stop is in the middle of the high desert, it was quite hot out. I tried to pre-cool the car while it was charging using the Kia app. (I did this while in a small convenience store away from the car) As soon as the car received this command, the charging session terminated and then the climate control kicked on. So, I ended up only charging to about 63% at this session. That was starting at 34%. More than enough to make it home. In and around San Diego/Carlsbad, there were a surprising number of free or at least available Level 2 charging options. I charged for free at Legoland, paid to charge in the parking garage for a Padres Game, free Level 2 at a shopping mall, and then ChargePoint at the hotel I was staying at. Although the hotel had an annoying policy of charging $10 per-hour after 3 hours of charging, so I couldn't leave it plugged in to charge overn"

"My Kia EV6 (2021-2024) was stolen via “GameBoy” gadget — what can owners do? Hi everyone, I’m posting here because my EV6 (year 2022) was stolen recently, and the circumstances look like the more to GAMEBOY theft method that’s being reported widely for Kia/Hyundai group EVs. I’ve already contacted Kia Europe, my local dealer, and a well-known EV YouTuber, but I haven’t seen a meaningful response yet from Kia about any broad recall/patch or clear guidance. I wanted to raise awareness and see if any owners here know more about what Kia is doing (or plans to do) — and what we, as a community, are doing to protect ourselves. **Questions I’d like fellow owners to help answer:** 1. Has anyone here (EV6 owner) knows if Kia plans some *software or hardware security update/recall/notice* specifically for this vulnerability? 2. Do you know if the newer model(s) (EV3, EV4 or EV6 refresh) have improved security / different keyless entry protocol / better immobiliser / or have Kia explicitly said so? 3. What additional protection measures are you using and how effective do you feel they are? 4. Have you raised this with the dealer or Kia and did they respond with anything concrete?"
