I was driving about 40 MPH, message popped "camera blocked, clean front windshield" I did and the message cleared. A few minutes later it came back so I cleaned the windshield again. What happened next shocked me. Without any warning while traveling 30 mph the automatic braking system came on and stopped the car quickly. Thank God for my seatbelt! My backpack that was in the back seat came flying to the front. No warning at all! I called the dealer and brought the car t them. They told me they need to load new software in the car that would take 5-6 hrs. They did the software and told me that it should be all set now. I picked up the car and drove it home. A few days later an incident more alarming happened! I was at a traffic light, car stopped and auto hold when suddenly the car accelerated on its own. I pumped the break several times and the car eventually stopped. I was terrified. I called the dealer and brought the car there the next morning. Dropped it of Saturday morning. I call Monday afternoon and spoke with the service person and he told me they could not replicate what happened and that there were no bulletins from Cadillac. I asked how they tested it and he told me they took it for a ride and also looked for any errors recorded in the cars memory. I said it happened to me once in 2 days so taking it for a short ride will not necessarily repeat what happened. He said they will hold the car and look at a few more things today. I just spoke to the dealer and they told me they drove the car for 15 minutes and found no issues. They also said they are looking for any bulletins on the car. Not sure what the outcome will be but these 2 incidents could have both been very ugly and people could have gotten very hurt. I ask myself...should I be driving this car!

The jolt was significant enough to cause me considerable alarm. 3 The most recent and concerning event occurred on the evening of February 24, 2025, around 8:00 PM. I was reversing out of a parking spot at a supermarket. Within seconds of shifting into reverse and beginning to back up, I felt an intense impact, as though a vehicle traveling at high speed had collided with the rear of my car. The force was so substantial that I was convinced a serious accident had occurred. However, upon exiting the vehicle, I found no other cars in the vicinity and no visible damage to my vehicle. OnStar system on the vehicle is busted. Because of this the accident detection no longer works and the GPS is stuck in no mans land which makes it impossible to use their app to figure out charging percentage, how far and route to take to the nearest charging station.

Car has been asleep after parking and will not wake up leaving all electrical components dead. GM has not been able to repair and unfortunately this has occurred 5 times including twice the month of March, 2026. Having a car parked in an unsafe location and not being able to move it very unsettling. After 30-60 minutes the car will start back up and operate normally.

My car is equipped with a forward-facing camera, mounted on the forward area of the interior rearview mirror. Additional cameras are mounted on the front bumper, trunk door, and on the rearview mirrors on each side of the car. Various sensors mounted throughout both bumpers face the front, rear, and each side of the car. At the time of this incident all sensors and cameras were clean and free of obstructions, and software was up to date. I was driving uphill, negotiating a tight left curve at approximately 30 MPH in a rural, forested area in the Santa Cruz Mountains (California.) There were no other conveyances, objects, or obstruction on the roadway in front or behind me. The weather was clear and the daytime visibility was excellent. The road was dry and I estimate its gradient at 30%. As I was about to enter the curve, the vertical dirt hillside appeared ahead and directly in front of the forward-facing cameras and sensors, which I supose, detected this topography. With minimal pressure, I had my right foot on the throttle to keep the aforementioned speed while turning. The cruise control was not in use. As I began to turn, and while still facing the hillside, the throttle stopped responding and the car decelerated. Simultaneously, a warning appeared on my dashboard screen, indicating the forward collision warning system was unavailable. I fully depressed the throtle but instead of gaining speed, the car slowed down to 12 MPH as I completed the turn. In quick succession, I lifted my right foot of the throtle and depressed it all the way to the floorboard but the car did not accelerate. The car eventually regained forward acceleration when I had the throttle pedal all the way against the floorboard but despite this severe throttle application, the car only accelerated very slowly. Telematics module failed and the vehicle couldn’t connect to emergency OnStar services if involved in crash. GPS also doesn’t work with a faulty module. No cellular or WiFi connectivity. Car reroutes to somewhere without this module working. I’m paying for the OnStar subscription but with a faulty module it can’t connect. GM says part back ordered with no ETA. Thousands of people are reporting the same problem and it should be a recall at this point.

I turned the car off and we waited approximately 45 minutes for the brakes to cool enough to proceed without further incident.

I purchased the 2025 Lyriq new on May 11, 2025. On May 30th with 5400 miles on the car, the front right wheel tie rod snapped off while driving causing the wheel to turn sideways. I was making a turn on a secondary sheet when it happened and was able to pull to the side of the road. Had I been driving on the highway at the time, I could have been killed or hurt another driver. I had the car towed to MacMulkin Cadillac on June 1. The dealership noted that it was bad welding and the car showed rust and rot in that area. It will be 30 days this Monday and no one from GM has been out to investigate.

"My 2025 Cadillac Lyriq is falling apart with glitches - anyone else fed up? So I've had my 2025 Lyriq AWD Luxury 1 for a while now, and until a few weeks ago I *loved* it. Smooth, quiet, and lovely ride. But lately, it's turning into a buggy, frustrating mess. * **Internet/GPS nightmare:** The car's internet connection keeps flipping on and off whenever it feels like it. As soon as CarPlay/Android Auto and hotspot via my phone aren't connected, the GPS goes nuts and shows random locations (sometimes even over lake Washington!). The OnStar plan was already included, so why is this even happening? And after a recent service center "fix", the internet connection is now officially off all the time. The app is now of no use to me because I can never get it to connect to my car. * **Service center "fix":** Took it in, they told me it was fixed. Spoiler: it wasn't - in fact, they worsened the situation. When I pointed it out, the service rep basically shrugged and told me to go back to OnStar and rebook another appointment. OnStar tried some troubleshooting (like turning on 'Share Hotspot Data') but that setting doesn't even switch on. Their advice? Yep, "take it back to service". * **Service broke something ELSE:** And now the Auto Hold is busted. When Auto Hold kicks in, the car rocks back and forth like it can't decide if it wants to stop or roll away. Then when I accelerate, it jerks forward like a stubborn mule. This wasn't happening before service touched it. * **Phantom detection issue:** The car also randomly detects something that isn't there, and the seat vibrates like crazy. Service told me Cadillac is "recalibrating their sensors". Whatever that means, it clearly isn't working. I guess I should be glad it doesn't slam on the parking brake by itself. I swear, every week with this car is a *new* problem. Cadillac keeps pushing updates and instead of improving things, it's just breaking more features. I was recommending the Lyriq to friends and family a month ago - now I wouldn't recommend Cadillac's EVs to anyone. Has anyone else had issues like this - internet/GPS dying, Auto Hold acting drunk, phantom detections, features randomly breaking after "service fixes" and Cadillac updates? At this point I just want my car back in the condition it was *before* Cadillac tried to "fix" it via service and updates. I've seen posts where folks are facing this/some other problem. Honestly, GM seems totally deaf to what owners are going through."
"Yet Another Lyriq GPS Thread: Dealer Update Explanation Edition The end of last month we took our 2024 Lyriq Lux 1 in for our 45k scheduled maintenance. We had been stricken by the GPS issue (well documented across this subreddit) for about three months now, and when I brought it in for service, I had printed off the software updates at that time to address missing updates in our history (654.40, 654.50, 654.60, 654.70, and PIT6425C for the GPS, which I believe was superseded by PIT6425D). I always also ask for vehicle wide programming when I arrive at the service lane, too. Upon picking it up two and a half weeks later, I didn't even leave the service lane parking space and our GPS was blank, as seen in the first pic. The second pic is our update history, which does not show any of the updates I requested. Before I left the dealer I asked my service advisor to sit in the car with me along with the Cadillac Concierge on the phone to show the map and GPS was displaying no roadways but I could enter navigation destinations, which replaced the "searching for GPS" message I received before taking it in for service. Their fix was to forget my WiFi hotspot credentials and connect again. That worked one time, but upon arriving home, the map presented with the missing roadways again. A few days after picking up the car and still with no luck, even after contacting Cadillac Concierge who said update 654.51 (the one that supposedly fixes the GPS issue) was installed, it still had not shown in my update history. This prompted me to contact Cadillac again both in online chat and the Concierge the next day. The Cadillac reps suggested that if I could not get my dealer to perform the updates, then I should try contacting other non-Cadillac GM dealers to perform the updates as they all should be able to do them. Long story short, one of the local non-Cadillac GM dealers said they are forbidden from doing Cadillac software updates and the other different GM dealer said they could do Cadillac updates. Both of them, however, mentioned perhaps these updates aren't getting done because updates are expensive, sometimes holding up a service bay for 3-5 hours, which ultimately costs the dealer more money than they get from GM. After composing an email, I sent my concerns to my dealer's service manager and operations VP (per my salesman's advice), and asked for a resolution. "Should I buy a 2024 Cadillac Lyriq Black Tech? Hey everyone, I’ve been seriously considering getting a 2024 Cadillac Lyriq Black Tech, but I keep going back and forth after reading so many mixed reviews both here and on YouTube. Visually and design-wise, the car looks amazing — no doubt about that. The interior is gorgeous, and the overall look really stands out compared to most EVs. However, I’ve seen quite a few concerning posts from owners mentioning that their Lyriq had to be towed multiple times due to software or electrical issues. That’s honestly making me hesitate. I’d be using the car mainly to drive to the office a few times a week and occasionally for Uber Black, so reliability is really important to me. I don’t want to spend around $34–38K just to end up with something that’s constantly in the shop. "First winter with my Lyriq and so far the range is decimated by the cold. No where near what I was getting during Spring, Summer, and Fall. My commute is about 52 miles total (26 each way mostly highway mileage) and based on how quick the battery drops, I think I'd be lucky going two days without charging. Short trips around town are still relatively good, but highway drinks electrons...."
