Buyer brief · 252 words

The 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E MACH-E CAL RT 1 ER AWD puts down 346 hp, 312 miles of EPA range and a 91 kWh battery, and a worth-pursuing score, but only after a hard inspection and a fair price.

Score read

A 61/100 makes this a high-risk buy. The useful split is build quality score at 76/100 versus owner feedback score at 48/100. On Reddit, owners keep flagging the same two issues: software tech and build quality. If the seller cannot show recall completion, price that risk or move on.

Gotchas

  • Serviceable Recall paperwork has to match the exact VIN.

Mitigation Use NHTSA and the automaker lookup, then require repair records instead of a verbal promise.

  • Verify Owner feedback is the part to read carefully (48/100).

Mitigation Read the complaint themes and ask whether this VIN has already had those issues repaired.

Pre-purchase inspection

  • 1 Run the exact VIN through NHTSA and the automaker recall lookup before discussing price.
  • 2 Compare the dashboard range estimate with the EPA 312-mile rating after a full charge.
  • 3 Confirm how much of the 8-year/100,000-mile battery warranty remains and whether it transfers.
  • 4 If road trips matter, run a short DC fast-charge session and watch whether speed tapers normally.
  • 5 Read the complaint themes, not just the count, and ask the seller whether those issues have shown up on this VIN.

Campaign #25V404000

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2025 Mustang Mach E vehicles. In the event of a low battery charge, the electronic door latches may remain locked once the driver or front passenger exits and shuts the door, possibly trapping someone who is unable to use the inside door release handles, such as a child in the back seat.

The inability to enter or exit the vehicle in an emergency increases the risk of injury.

The vehicle parking brake engaged as expected when parked, but would not disengage. Vehicle became inoperable and required a tow to the Ford Dealership. Ford confirmed the cause of the issue was related to a wiring fault, similar to the 2021 and 2022 model years which resulted in Ford issuing Customer Satisfaction Program 22P31. In addition, this failure caused the brake booster module to fail preventing the parking brake from engaging correctly after the wiring was repaired.

After parking the vehicle, when returning to the vehicle the parking brake would not disengage. The computer reported Parking Brake Fault Service Immediately. Vehicle was not able to be moved and required a tow to the shop as a result. The vehicle is currently being serviced, but speaking with the dealership this is somewhat of a known issue. There were no symptoms or warning signs prior to this. The only potential safety issue about this could have been if the vehicle was parked in an unsafe area and unable to be moved.

I was backing out of a parking spot in a strip mall, when I changed the gear to Drive, and moved forward by a foot. I felt a bump, as I appeared to have hit some obstruction on the left underside of the vehicle (likely a low curb/island). After that, I lost control of the vehicle - the car accelerated very hard, and I tried to stop the car, but it was not responding to my brake input. I crashed into a stationary vehicle, which deflected my car to a storefront wall. The total distance travelled from when the sudden acceleration started to the crash against the wall, was probably 20 - 30 feet (and not in a straight line). But the impact was severe enough to have deployed the air bags and the car is considered totalled. Besides the sudden acceleration which did not happen on my input, and the inability of the car to stop based on my brake input, neither did the Forward Collision Warning go off, nor did the Automatic Emergency Braking turn on, to prevent the crash.

I was lucky it did not fail engaged so I was able to drive it. Early production 2023 but ford did not recall this model year. Same problem as csp 22p31. Ford currently is not covering this repair even just 500 miles over factory warranty even though all model years around it have the recall. As for the automatic emergency braking it may stop you very short, and hitting the pedal does not override the braking system. Car jerks and seems confused in this situation. I keep turning it off, but the car keeps putting it back on against my wishes. Extremely concerning as it should stay off.

Vehicle: 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E (leased) The issue involves the cruise control system and steering wheel control layout (human-machine interface). Cruise control is unintentionally activated when attempting to use the turn signal due to the placement of the cruise control buttons. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. On two separate occasions while using one-pedal driving, unintended cruise control activation caused sudden acceleration during low-speed turning maneuvers. The first incident occurred while signaling to turn into a parking spot. The second occurred while entering a left-turn pocket. In both cases, the unexpected acceleration created an immediate risk of collision with surrounding vehicles and required sudden panic braking to avoid an accident. The issue has occurred multiple times during normal driving but has not yet been formally reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center, and the vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer or other parties regarding this issue. No warning lamps, alerts, or messages appeared prior to the unintended acceleration. Cruise control engaged without driver intent and without advance warning.

Upon vehicle startup, the speedometer does not show on the instrument cluster (completely digital readout, analog readout not possible). In its place is the EV's remaining battery % with absolutely no way to access the speedometer and know the speed of the vehicle. This places the driver, other drivers, pedestrians, anyone else on the road at risk of excessive vehicle speed. There is no warning, error messages, or other symptoms prior to the issue happening. The only way rectify the issue is to fully restart the vehicle. However, this is not always a guaranteed fix, and the problem may persist between starts up. The issue does not occur during every start up event and is intermittent with a sudden onset (had the vehicle for 1.5 years at this point). The issue has occurred 3x in the last 2 weeks now. The vehicle was in motion, and could have caused a wreck under different conditions. The issue continued even after turning off then restarting the car. The issue stopped once disconnecting/reconnecting the battery. There was never an error message or any other warning, other than the sound. It is far too easy to accidentally hit and activate cruise control button on the steering wheel when turning. If your thumb brushes up against the button the car can continue moving when you expect it to be slowing down either coasting or staying at the same speed when using 1-pedal driving. This could easily cause an accident when coming up to a turn and someone is crossing the street or similar situation.

While driving the 2023 Ford MachE in 1 Peddle mode Friday 12 July 2024. I had to suddenly brake due to a car cutting of the car in front of me to make an illegal turn. I applied the brakes (HARD) and my car came to a complete stop. Just as I was breathing a sigh of relief, and waiting for the still parked car in front of me to move. On I released my foot of the brake (the car should have held in place). However, warning lights sensors started beeping going crazy as the car lunged forward. It caused me to hit the car in front of me. The lunge was so forceful that for a moment I thought another car had rear-ended me and pushed me into the stopped car in front of me. I did not have time to see all of the alerts flashing on the dash as they were flashing as the car was propelled forward. The other car did not sustain any damage. However my car car did. While waiting on the Police to come make a report I did use the in car engineer feedback and recorded a message notifying Ford that my car had lunged forward. On Monday 15 July I called the Ford BEV team to tell them what happened. Was advised to take it to a dealership to be checked out. The dealership ran diagnostics and updated the car via a technical service bulletin. 24-2187 issued on 07 June 2024. Prior to me taking my car to the dealership I also came to your website and there were no recall campaigns needing VIN-specific checks and no mention of this bulletin. Brakes: The brakes grab hard when coming to a stop and cause a slight jerk. I have reported this issue to the original dealership of purchase; Angela Krause Ford in Alpharetta, GA. It’s been two weeks since I purchased this vehicle brand new and I still have not been able to get it in for repair. Charge Port Door: The charge port door cover came off while I was trying to close it and the clip part that connects the door to the car and locks came off (very cheaply made and other Mach E owners have suffered this same thing shortly after purchase). I can’t drive the vehicle because of the brakes issue and also because with the slightest wing going down the highway the charge port door pops open. I have it secured with a piece of tape currently but that’s still not safe or secure and the door could still fly open.

When driving, sometimes a “Drive Mode Unavailable” message comes up on the infotainment. Drive modes in the MachE contribute to deceleration, one pedal driving, and throttle mapping, and switching abruptly from one to another without input from the driver is a safety issue as it can instantaneously change the deceleration or acceleration rate of the vehicle. This is a known bug that’s been around for years and still no fix for it.

The vehicle regularly, and at random times, will drop out of the chosen drive setting and go to the default "Engage" mid-level setting. This changes the driving dynamics, such as pedal pressure required to move the car, and the sensitivity of the steering. If the driver was in "Unbridle", for example, the car will immediately lose speed and steering sensitivity, while if the driver was in "Whisper", the car will lurch forward. This has happened at city speeds, highway speeds, and even while at a stop in a line of cars. The stop is especially dangerous, as 1-pedal drivers would expect the car to be fully stopped, but it still lurches forward towards people or other cars. Temperature of the engine and battery does not seem to be a factor, as this happens in all conditions. It appears to be a dangerous software error.

On Saturday July 15, 2023 my family and I were in the car going grocery shopping. By time I reached the grocery store a warning came up on the screen that stated brake fluid low. When I arrived home I did not have any brakes. The vehicle was towed the dealer where it was purchased. I was told that the brake caliper were faulty and their is only one mechanic that is allowed to work on electric vehicles.

I have 2023 Ford EV and my son also have 2022 Ford EV, too. We are living in the same house. All Ford mobile chargers with 240V do not work properly. It is supposed to charge at 7KWh but it drops 3Khw after few minutes charge. I switched to new Ford mobile charge, but it is faulty, too. Ford says its overheating issue but it happens during the winter season, too. I am concerning it might have faulty electric design and cause the fire at home. I checked the Ford Mach-e Forum, many of them have same problems.

Description of Incident: On August 3, 2025, while driving my 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E, smoke began rising from the front of the vehicle. Within moments, flames erupted. I pulled over and evacuated. The fire quickly engulfed the cabin, resulting in a total loss. Component/System Involved: UNKNOWN. Based on the location and nature of the fire, a failure in the high-voltage battery system or related electrical components is suspected. Documentation and photos are available upon request. Safety Risk: This posed a serious threat to my safety and others on the road. Had it occurred in traffic or at higher speeds, the outcome could have been far worse. Reproduction/Confirmation: The issue has not been reproduced. The fire was investigated by my insurance company and the local fire department. Ford was notified and took possession of the vehicle on August 5. Inspection History: Ford left the vehicle uncovered outdoors for over two months. In October, they sent an engineer who spent 15–30 minutes walking around the car without opening or moving anything. Based solely on this brief visual inspection, Ford claimed the fire was caused by an “outside source” but provided no supporting evidence. I have fire report and police reports. Warning Signs: No warning lamps, error messages, or unusual behavior occurred prior to the fire. The drive was uneventful until smoke appeared. The vehicle had charged normally the day before. Assessment: UNKNOWN. The cause remains undetermined. Ford’s investigation lacked transparency and rigor. Given the growing number of EV fire reports, this incident deserves further scrutiny to protect other consumers.

Dear NHTSA Team, I am writing to urgently raise concern and seek answers regarding what appears to be a systemic safety issue affecting vehicles equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and self-driving technologies. I have personally experienced repeated and dangerous incidents of phantom braking, overcorrection, and loss of control while driving a 2019 Toyota Prius. The car suddenly brakes, swerves, or pulls sharply when it detects shadows, road inclinations, or mild curves — making it unsafe to drive, especially at highway speeds. These events occur without any driver error. To make things worse, this issue is not limited to one brand or vehicle. Over the past year, I have driven and rented multiple cars from different brands and models through rental companies, and many of them presented the exact same unsafe behavior — unpredictable braking, steering correction, and traction instability. This clearly indicates that the issue is industry-wide, not isolated to a single manufacturer. I have been a professional rideshare driver for over five years, completing more than 500,000 miles without a single accident or ticket. Since October 2023, these vehicle behaviors have made it nearly impossible for me to continue working safely. This situation has destroyed my livelihood — I am now three months behind on rent, my mental health has been severely impacted, and I am facing homelessness for the second time in two years. All of this has happened because of unsafe technology that drivers cannot fully disable, even when it is clearly malfunctioning. I respectfully ask NHTSA: Why are automakers allowed to release and maintain these unsafe systems on public roads? Why do drivers not have the right to safely disable malfunctioning ADAS or self-driving features, like any other electronic system that can be shut down in an emergency? When will NHTSA take meaningful action to stop these dangerous practices before more lives are affected?

I’m writing this message out of frustration, exhaustion, and genuine concern for public safety. Over the past months, I’ve been renting and driving multiple cars from different brands and models — Toyota, Subaru, Nissan, and now a 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E — and all of them show the same dangerous behavior: •sudden phantom braking for no reason, •traction control malfunctioning, throwing the car from side to side, •unstable handling, especially on highways or during light rain. This is not an isolated case — it’s happening across several brands and systems, which makes me question what is really going on. Why are drivers being forced to deal with unreliable technology that clearly isn’t ready for real-world conditions? Are these systems being tested using real drivers as data sources to “teach” self-driving cars how to handle special situations? Because that’s what it feels like — we are being used without consent, forced to correct constant software mistakes that could cost lives. This situation has destroyed my professional and financial stability. I work as a rideshare driver (Uber and Lyft), and passengers have reported me as “unsafe” because the car suddenly brakes or moves erratically — something completely out of my control. I’ve lost access to stable work, fell behind on my car payments, and ended up returning my own vehicle because of all the expenses and stress trying to fix something that was never broken in the first place. And I have to ask: Why did NHTSA approve a regulation that prevents drivers from fully turning off these driver assistance systems? In what world does it make sense for a safety-critical technology to have no emergency off switch? In any other context — like electricity — we have breakers to stop the system when it becomes unsafe. Cars should be no different. I’ve lost almost everything I worked for because of this. Please, take this seriously. People’s lives, jobs, and mental health are being destroyed by this technology.

My car displayed a warning that the pre-collision assist was not available. This caused all of the safety features not to work (collision warning; lane departure warning; parking collision warning etc.) The car has been in and out of the dealership since Aug. 6th to repair this but Ford has not corrected the problem. We have not been told what is wrong with the car or any estimation on if or when it will be repaired. I requested the service documents for all of the records of when my car has been in the shop for this issue. I received the document but it has incorrect and missing information which causes me to be concerned that the issue is not being address but instead my car is being held with no efforts of a remedy. My car has not operated correctly for almost 2 months but the only service recorded was a replacement of a coaxial cable which did not fix the car.

On 2 occassions in the past 2 week, our Mustang Mach E has accelerated on its own. In the first incident, it was a minor acceleration. It caught me by surprise as I was pulling up to a curb to drop off a passenger. It was easily stopped with brake pressure. In the 2nd incident, the acceleration was greater and more pronounced while pulling into a parking spot, requiring the pressure of both feet to quickly stop it before it went up onto a sidewalk and into a store front. It's never done this before, but certainly could cause an accident and was unsettling. We have not taken it to the dealer because it is random and not replicate-able. There were no warning lamps or error messages at the time. The vehicle was functioning and acting normal otherwise.

"Review and Feedback on FitCamX Dashcam Became the proud owner of Richtofen (2024 AWD Premium) last fall and am nothing but impressed so far. This is my first "new to me" vehicle in a long time, so of course I've been adding accessories and "upgrades" to personalize him and make him "mine." My Signifiant Other saw the FitCamX on my Christmas Wishlist and on Christmas morning I was pleasantly surprised to find it under the tree! Due the cold and some unforseen issues I just got around to installing it and thought I'd share my thoughts with the community! Here is the product page if you are not familiar with the product: **The Product** \- The dashcam itself is pretty basic. It is forward facing only, and does NOT have location/speed/GPS info/integration. What made it attractive to me is that once it is installed, it is pretty much invisible and looks like it is a factory feature! There is no hardware stuck to the window and no cables to route or take up a USB jack. There are trade-offs, but I prefer the clean look and appearance over the more advanced features. **Installation -** Installation was pretty straight forward. Scanning a QR code takes one to a manufacturer's video that walks the user through each step the installation process. Here is a summary of the main steps: 1. Removed the factory plastic cover around the rear view mirror using the plastic pry tool that comes in the packaging. (This made me nervous, but was easier that I expected) 2. Transfer the retaining clips from the factory plastic cover to the FitCamX plastic cover. 3. Unplug the rain sensor and install the included Y-connector cable to connect the FitCamX to the car's electrical power. 4. Route / tuck in the cables and re-attach the camera / plastic cover to the car. 5. Turn on the car and connect the dashcam's Wi-Fi to your phone to verify its operation. The intallation is not difficult and can be done by anyone with a little patience. Overall it will took about 20 minutes from start to finish. **Support** \-I did have a slight issue with the product. When I first installed the dashcam, it would not power on and all the troublshooting steps were unsuccessful. Tech Support is pretty much only available via email, but they are VERY responsive. I wrote them about the power issue on Sunday morning (non-business hours) and had a reply first thing Monday morning (first business day). They requested a couple of photos of the install, verified that everything looked right, and ended up sending out a new Y-Connector cable. I received the cable a couple days later, installed it, but had the same issue (no power). I emailed them again explaining the situation which indicated that the issue had to be in the camera itself, and the next day I had a tracking numbe"

"Ford Mustang Mach-E breaks Guinness World Record after 569 mile-trip on a single charge While I'm more for creature comforts and charging more myself (crank the AC/heat, use the USB ports, etc.) the article is interesting about how far the guy went with a MME, and below the link is some pointers to maximize range. **Article**: Ford Mustang Mach-E breaks Guinness World Record after 569 mile-trip on a single charge **Hypermiling 101: Maximizing Electric Vehicle Range** **1. Gentle Acceleration:** Electric vehicles, particularly performance-focused vehicles like the Mustang Mach-E, can deliver near instant torque with a single press of the accelerator pedal, making it tempting to accelerate aggressively. However, this can significantly reduce range. To maximize range, drivers should adopt a gentle approach, gradually increasing momentum to reach the desired speed. Hard acceleration consumes energy, ultimately diminishing the vehicle's overall range. **2. Utilize Regenerative Braking:** One of the key advantages of electric vehicles is regenerative braking. This system captures kinetic energy during deceleration and converts it back into usable electricity, effectively extending the car's range. By utilizing regenerative braking and one pedal drive, drivers minimize the need for traditional braking, further enhancing efficiency. **3. Tire Selection and Pressure:** Tire selection and pressure plays a crucial role in optimizing range. Choosing tires with low rolling resistance is essential, as they minimize energy loss during driving. Maintaining the proper tire pressure is equally important. Over inflated tires decrease the rolling resistance whereas underinflated tires increase it and impact range positively. Even a slight reduction in tire pressure can negatively affect the vehicle's performance. **4. Minimize Weight:** Excessive weight significantly impacts an electric vehicle's range. Drivers should strive to minimize the load carried in the vehicle, including passengers and cargo. Every additional pound adds to the energy required to move the vehicle, ultimately reducing the distance it can travel on a single charge. **5. Minimize Energy Consumption from Accessories:** Using features like air conditioning can also significantly impact range. While these features are convenient during everyday driving, drivers should use them sparingly to maximize efficiency when engaging in hypermiling driving behavior."

"Im in the market for a Mach E. What year should I avoid? AI has given me this list. I want to hear from owners themselves. Would you say AI is correct? The model years to avoid for the Ford Mustang Mach-E are primarily the first two years: 2021 and 2022. The 2021 Mach-E, as the debut model year, had significant reliability issues, especially with the electrical system, and had the highest number of recalls, including a serious battery contact overheating problem. The 2022 model showed some improvements in the number of complaints and recalls but still suffered from electrical system problems and maintained low reliability ratings from sources like Consumer Reports and J.D. Power. These issues make 2021 and 2022 Mach-E models generally recommended to avoid. From 2023 onward, there are indications of better reliability with fewer recalls and improvements in the vehicle’s quality, though some reviews suggest moderate reliability only, not perfect. For example, the 2023 model lacks recalls and shows reduced problems compared to earlier years. Later years like 2024 are seen as more solid choices with progressive improvements made over time. In summary: - Avoid the 2021 Mach-E due to numerous electrical problems and the highest number of recalls. - Be cautious about 2022, which still has notable issues. - Models from 2023 and later generally have fewer problems and better reliability ratings, with 2024 and beyond considered safer choices for used buyers.[1][2][5]"

"Such a sad day So I’d like to present my very first photos with my 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E Select AWD. I want to say that I only had the vehicle for maybe 3 months. Here’s what happened: I got a call from the Ford dealership (local) that they found a Mach-E for me around the price I was looking to pay. The only thing was that they wanted to make sure I was ready to put a down payment on it immediately because they had to purchase it from another dealership. Once I gave my okay, the same day they purchased the vehicle was the same day I put in my down payment and signed the paperwork and drove off with the vehicle. I wish I knew then what I only know just more recently, which was that the vehicle itself was a lemon. I wish on that day I had immediately asked for the CarFax and had made sure everything was good. The first week I had it, I didn’t really notice anything wrong with it. I was loving it and driving around as much as I could. Then about a month in I started to notice some electrical issues and connection issues with my devices. I took it to the dealership and they had it for a moment but they ultimately just updated it and said it should be good. The other thing was that it was suppose to have the Ford Blue Cruise on it as it’s what they told me was added to it. The fact is, it didn’t, and when they tried to manually put in the software (because the vehicle already had the hardware for it), it just wasn’t sticking. A few weeks later, I go to put something in the back of the car and I notice an earthy smell. I lift up the platform in the back and discover MOLD growing. To make matters worse, I got an email with the CarFax. When I opened it, let me tell you how absolutely shocked I was to find out that the vehicle had actually been in a major front end collision before where ALL airbags deployed. I take this information and everything to the dealership who end up actually shocked and inform me that the dealer they bought it from never disclosed any of this information. Now I did do my part in contacting multiple lawyers, however, the cheapest one I found wanted a $5k retainer (which I didn’t have). I decided to just work with the dealership as they are(were) a reputable dealership. They end up taking the vehicle in promising to fix everything that’s either broken or needs to be repaired. Three weeks later, they inform me that they just want to buy back the vehicle the exact price I paid for it and give me my down payment back because they found out that because of the prior accident it had, it was never properly fixed and so any time it rained or if I took it to a car wash, it was getting inside the inside of the car (behind panels) and because of that noticed about $10k worth of damage including corroded electrical (explains the electrical issues). I ended up taking them up on their offer and they paid off my vehicle loan plus interest and gave me back my down payment (well, most of it). I’m so sad y’all,"

"5 weeks in the shop (No diagnoisis) *Update now 11 weeks* Update 02/11/2025 In 2 days this will be 11 weeks in the shop. It has been over 3 weeks with no response from Ford engineering. The local tech has reached out to the field service engineer (FSE) Sergio 8 times in the last 3 weeks and the handful of responses were that they still have not heard back from engineering. About 3 weeks ago the tech recieved a "break out box" that is supposed to allow them to monitor all car systems and simotaniously detach one module at a time. This process proved inconclusive and there is still no diagnoises on what the problem is. I did ask for a printout of the work order from the dealership for my records. This did remind me that my car is in for 2 items that I indicated and 1 that the dealership found. CS : "Electrical system drain - service required" displayed CS : "Eye-Tracking/bluecruise not working" and the fun surprise 3. Coolant low in both resvoirs. At this point nothing has been diagnoised and zero progress has been made. I requested, with Dorene from Ford, to resubmit another buyback request on my behalf and to indicate that I'm looking for a buyback because it is under warranty and it can not be fixed. I doubt this will go anywhere but I'm grasping at straws at this point. Also spoke with the local Service Manager. He thinks it is a software issue and that Ford doesn't know how to fix it. I told him about the buyback request getting denied and then submitting another. He requested Dorene's e-mail and he is going to reach out to his regional ford contact, "who is many levels above the woman you spoke to" and see if he can help push for a buyback as well. I spoke with a lemon law attorney as well and they indicated that I do have a case and they could move forward but their firm would only be going after financial compensation and expectations were 3-5k. If I was looking for a buyback or starting a lawsuit to get more from Ford they could refer me to another firm that could help me with that. They did let me know that with everything they've been working on lately Ford is fighting extremely hard to not buy back any electric vehicles or Broncos. They told me that they really dug their heels in within the last 3-6 months and it seems like a high level policy decision within Ford. I'd be happy with any suggestions on how to move forward at this point. Ford is incompetent and dragging their heels in regards to my vehicle and I feel like it's leaving me no options. **End Update** UPDATE 01/09/2025. 6 weeks in the shop today. No progress has been made since my original post. Our vehicle is a 2022' Ford Mustang Mach E GT Performance Edition that was purchased used in April of 2024 with ~4k miles from a dealership in Ohio and we had it shipped to Florida. The vehicle currently only has ~10k miles on it. I got a call back from Dorene at Ford (corporate) and my buyback was denied for being out of lemon law guideines for the state of Ohio, w"

"Mach E - Bricked? My 6-month-old 2023 Mustang Mach-E has been stranded at the Ford dealer for almost 4 weeks. 🤯 It completely locked me out one night, and they STILL can't figure out what's wrong. There were a few software updates right before it happened, so I'm wondering if one of those messed up the computer. Ford keeps pushing me to buy a new car (a 2023 model, no less!) and mentioned something called "trade assist" to help cover PART of the $20K gap on the new vehicle. "Signed Lease for Ford Mustang Mach-E but No Delivery Due to Recall – Paying for a Car I Don’t Have. Hey everyone, hoping for some advice. I signed a lease for a **2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E** on **June 20, 2025** through a dealership in Washington. The car was under an **active recall** at the time (which I found out after signing), and I was told verbally it would be delivered by June 27. As of today (June 24), **I still don’t have the car**. The problem: * My **lease payments have already started** (first payment processed as part of signing day payment - I have given zero downpayment though, only registration charges and first month lease included) * The lease is held by **Ford Motor Credit.** * I’m now **paying around $500/month** for a car I don’t even have yet * I’m also spending **money on a rental car weekly** just to get around The dealer says they’re waiting on Ford due to the recall, but that’s not helping me financially. I’m not sure if I should just wait until June 27, but this is starting to feel really unfair. I’m effectively paying for a vehicles and not using it. **What I’ve done so far:** * Spoke to the dealer (only got a vague "should be resolved by June 27") Has anyone been in a similar situation where: 1. The car wasn’t delivered after lease signing? 2. You were charged before you physically received the vehicle? 3. You successfully got a refund, lease adjustment, or some kind of reimbursement? Would appreciate any tips on what to say to Ford Credit or how to escalate this. Thanks in advance — I’m burning cash daily on a rental and feeling stuck. Edit : the reason for me getting worried about this is that there are news reporting about fix coming as late as Q3 end."
