Buyer brief · 232 words

The 2022 Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD has 330 miles of EPA range and 250 kW fast charging, and with 18 recall campaigns on this make/year, the VIN lookup is the first thing you do.

Score read

A 67/100 makes this a paperwork-and-test-drive decision. The useful split is range and efficiency score at 73/100 versus battery-health score at 61/100. Owners on Reddit repeatedly cite owner satisfaction and software tech as recurring problems. If the seller cannot show recall completion, price that risk or move on.

Bargain hunter Best TCO, reliability + low depreciation

Gotchas

  • Serviceable Recall paperwork has to match the exact VIN.

Mitigation Use NHTSA and the automaker lookup, then require repair records instead of a verbal promise.

  • Verify Battery condition is the number not to take on faith (61/100).

Mitigation Require a battery-health report, charging history, or dealer diagnostic before final price.

Pre-purchase inspection

  • 1 Run the exact VIN through NHTSA and the automaker recall lookup before discussing price.
  • 2 Compare the dashboard range estimate with the EPA 330-mile rating after a full charge.
  • 3 Confirm how much of the 8-year/120,000-mile battery warranty remains and whether it transfers.
  • 4 If road trips matter, run a short DC fast-charge session and watch whether speed tapers normally.
  • 5 Ask for a battery-health report or dealer diagnostic before discussing final price.

The Financing Room · What Actually Happens

Dealers make ~$8,831 on the average car loan.

INCIDENT SUMMARY On April 16, 2026, at approximately 2:06 PM local time, my 2022 Tesla Model Y was traveling on a multi-lane divided roadway in the Austin/Lakeway, Texas area with Autopilot engaged. Traffic in my direction of travel was heavily congested and traveling with 32 mph. Without warning, alert, or any input from me, Autopilot commanded an uncommanded left steering maneuver. The vehicle veered left out of its lane and into a painted buffer separator area. The direction of travel pointed directly toward a building, an electrical transformer/utility box, and a landscaped area containing mature trees. I immediately recognized the unexpected maneuver and manually gripped the steering wheel to override Autopilot. I steered the vehicle to avoid collision with the building and the electrical box, both of which posed serious collision and electrocution risks. In the approximately 1.5 to 2 seconds available to me, I successfully redirected the vehicle away from the building and the transformer. The vehicle came to rest after striking a tree in the landscaped area adjacent to the road. The vehicle was totaled. Driver and curtain airbags deployed. I was wearing my seatbelt, was alert, and sustained no major injuries as a result of my intervention and the successful redirection of the vehicle.

1. Incident Description (FSD Failure) "While operating the vehicle using FSD (Supervised) on December 30, 2025, at approximately [Time], the vehicle failed to detect and completely ran through a red light/stop light at the intersection of [Street Name] and [Cross Street]. I had to take over the vehicle to avoid a potential collision. The system did not provide a warning or attempt to brake for the traffic signal." 2. Control Failure (Sliding/Steering) "Under low-speed conditions (approximately 13 mph), the vehicle suffered an uncontrolled loss of traction and directional stability. The Traction Control System (TCS) failed to intervene or stabilize the car. I was forced to perform a manual steering intervention to correct the slide and maintain my lane. This occurred at [Location/Address]." 3. Hardware/Exit Concern (Door) "The vehicle has a mechanical defect in the [Front/Rear] door. It requires excessive physical force (hard slamming) to latch properly. I am concerned that in an emergency, the door may fail to open or close correctly, posing a safety risk to passengers." 4. Summary of Risk "I no longer feel safe operating this vehicle. The combination of an autonomous driving system that ignores traffic signals and a stability system that fails at school-zone speeds makes this vehicle a life-threatening hazard to myself and others on the road."

I was driving on the freeway in the fast lane using FSD (full self driving). The car attempted to merge into another Tesla in the lane to my right. I experienced a safety issue with my Tesla vehicle where the automatic window and locking system malfunctioned. While the car was stationary, my baby was looking out of the window, and suddenly, the car locked itself and the window began closing automatically. Despite the presence of my baby near the window, the obstacle detection system did not respond, and the window continued to close. It seems the detection system is designed to sense firm or hard objects but fails to recognize softer or smaller obstructions, such as a child’s head or hand. This poses a significant safety risk, especially for young children. I urge NHTSA to investigate the following: 1.The sensitivity and reliability of Tesla’s obstacle detection system for power windows. 2.Whether this issue meets the required safety standards for automatic windows. 3.Potential updates or recalls needed to address this safety concern. This is a critical issue that requires immediate attention to make sure the safety of passengers, especially children, in Tesla vehicles.

On Friday 10/11 at 10:45 a.m I was in traffic on Day Street in Moreno Valley, California. This was the third time I experienced a sudden unintended acceleration with my Tesla. I would have hit the car in front of me, but I was able to swerve into an island on my left to avoid the car. The car went over the curve and stopped. I am unsure what happened but after my prior experiences, I knew how to react. Had I not reacted swiftly, I would have hit the car in front of me. There were no warning messages. I have an appointment with Tesla on Wed 10/26. When this happened the first time, they claimed there was nothing wrong with the car, but I think they are not looking hard enough. I am aware of a voltage problem that other Tesla owners have experienced that can lead to sudden unintended acceleration.

Sudden Unintended Acceleration. TESLA Service refuses to check the vehicle, it happened 4 times so far. On first occasion they sent it to their engineering team, and result came back after five months and they claimed nothing is wrong. They refused to provide a copy of engineering report. IF nothing is wrong, why did they refuse to provide car owner a copy. IT happened three times after that and they asking for exact day and time, which was provided for second time and they mentioned that there is nothing they can do. I had the car for about 14 months and had less than 6000 miles because I am afraid of driving it and cause into accident.

On 9/4/23, I encountered a serious malfunction with my Model Y. The issue in question involved the vehicle crashing into a wall on the top level of a parking structure while using the “Smart Summon” feature in Tesla’s mobile app. The “Smart Summon” feature allows you to use the Tesla app to retrieve the vehicle and have it move to your location (within 12 meters) while you are standing outside of the vehicle. This malfunction rendered the vehicle unsafe to drive and significantly affected its performance. I immediately contacted Tesla's customer support and was advised to take my vehicle to the nearest Tesla Service Center or certified repair service center. The Tesla Service Center located in West Covina, CA, performed a diagnostics inspection and technicians said that due to the “Smart Summon” feature being a beta version, they do not take responsibility for the damage caused. I explained that the “Smart Summon” feature was first released in 2016 and that it’s original feature design is for the vehicle to stop completely if it detects any objects in its path of travel. I also raised the question on what if it was our children or any other pedestrian that could have been injured. I would like to emphasize that my Model Y is only 1.4 year old, purchased in April 2022 and it has been meticulously maintained according to Tesla's recommended guidelines. It is perplexing and disheartening to learn that a significant malfunction, seemingly unrelated to any neglect or misuse on my part, would not be covered by Tesla's warranty. I understand that warranties have limitations, but I firmly believe that the malfunction I experienced falls well within the scope of what should be covered. This situation has placed an unexpected financial burden on me, as the estimated repair costs are substantial at almost $8,000. It also raises questions about the reliability and durability of Tesla vehicles. I kindly request your time and assistance in the matter.

2022 TESLA MODEL Y- Consumer sent in a copy of settle request sent originally to Tesla Corp. and a copy of proposed complaint document. Short summary of settlement doc is as followed: "To Whom it May Concern, Please regard this as my last and final attempt to resolve our disputes. I had previously directed Counsel to transmit a letter to you on January 6, 2023. That letter indicated my Revocation of Acceptance pursuant to the Uniform Commercial Code §2608 and notice of defect under the Lemon Law. You have neither responded or taken any action to investigate or make me whole, despite the vehicle having less than 3,000 miles on it, and thus being well within the scope of your warranty. As you are aware, the vehicle you sold me contains material manufacturing design and marketing defects, which I summarize here and in the attached proposed complaint, as follows: -The Vehicle has been contaminated with dangerous VOCs. Independent environmental testing has detected the presence of methl ethly ketone (72 ppbv), ethyl acetate (120 ppbv) and Methyl methacrylate (140 ppbv). This renders the vehicle unsafe to drive. These chemicals are industrial adhesives and solvents used in the manufacture of Tesla's products, and their use has been experimentally tested with fast charging lithium ion cells, specifically, the product I purchased. -The Vehicle does not meet purported manufacturer charging specifications as sold. The vehicle I purchased takes 48 hours to charge - far longer than the normal time represented to me both in terms of materials you posted online in addition to your sales staff. Moreover, the driving range is far shorter than what you purported it to be when the vehicle is sold. -The Software is defective. It freezes. It prevents me from actually shutting the car off. -The "Hands Free" feature is inherently dangerous. This feature does not truly let you drive "hands free". The driver can't merely touch the wheel. One has to jerk the wheel with sudden motion, and if one doesn't the car repeatedly beeps - startlin

Since I received this awful vehicle it has never properly identified emergency vehicles. Sometimes it confuses neon/led signs with emergency lights and smashes on the brake for emergency vehicles that aren't there. Other times it slams on the brakes on the highway when behind an emergency vehicle and the reflective tape is lit up from my own headlights bouncing on the awfully hard and cheap suspension on this 'performance' vehicle. Lately I've captured video of the car completely failing to see a FIRE TRUCK right in front of it for at least 1 minute straight with the lights and sirens on. This is unacceptable. I saw [XXX] on Twitter recommending a woman put her children or dogs inside his cars with overheat protection on however I have been recording and reporting this fatal error for several months and they have NOT corrected it. The car has overheat set at 100F I routinely screenshot the car reaching 130F (assuming the cars thermometer is even accurate) this is hot enough to kill basically ANY living thing. My baby, dead. Dog, dead. It was only 82F outside so I'm going to call BS on the 'tempered glass' that 'repels over 90% heat' the car is a fishbowl/greenhouse. So if my car doesn't kill me, my family and those around me 'Full Self Driving' it will kill your kids and pets while you run errands because you trusted a melomaniac. And if that doesn't kill you everyone who hates [XXX] and Tesla will routinely bully you on the road too because apparently there isn't a single person in ALL of the entire USA government who isn't a total puppy for [XXX]. Not to mention Tesla just awarded some hackers $350,000 and a new car for hacking a model 3's radio to take over the car when I've been reporting this exact exploit to NHTSA and FBI for months. Many times my car has played insulting music and not allowed me to change it, the car often driving with a mind of its own towards fatal crashes that would kill me if I didn't disengage every 2 minutes (that's being generous when not on a highway). "YOU [XXX] [XXX] I AINT [XXX] WITH YOU!" "IVE GOT A MILLION OTHER THINGS I'd RATHER [XXX] DO, THAN BE [XXX] WITH YOU; LITTLE [XXX]! I DON'T GIVE A [XXX]!" I have all this on video. Narrative November 18, 2022 At approximately 8:30 in the morning I was driving my new Tesla Model Y through the rolling hills of South Central Pennsylvania on I-70 heading to Breezewood in order to catch the Pennsylvania Turnpike West. Suddenly and without warning, the car began to break as hard as a car can brake without skidding. Almost like a full panic stop. The car must have stopped in four or five seconds from 60 miles an hour. I was in the left lane at the time and I tried to get over onto the shoulder but I was unable. The car came to a complete stop in the middle of the right lane. The car was in the center of the right lane and was completely locked up. I was unable to get it into neutral. I was unable to get it into a gear so I turned on the emergency flashers. Right behind me were three semis. The first one had to swerve to avoid me. The trailer almost flipped over into me. The semi behind him had to swerve to avoid me and thank God there were no cars in the left lane. The third semi had to take evasive action to get around me. I am grateful those three truck drivers were on the ball at that moment. After they went by, I got out of the car and ran up the hill to flag other trucks and cars to move into the left lane. The car had come to a stop on the other side of the top of a crest so cars and trucks didn't have much notice coming up on my car. Meanwhile, I called 911. I stood at the top of the crest for the better part of an hour and a half, maybe two hours waiting for the police to show, but they never did. I did receive some help from passersby who stopped to help and called 911 as well. After almost two hours, a road crew showed up to lay down flares. And finally a tow truck came to tow me to Crystal Lake PA. Almost 8 hours later I finally got my car into a Tesla dealer in Mechanicsburg PA. When I got there [XXX] the service manager told me they did a preliminary diagnostic and determined that the computer chip in the car was defective. Tesla Y has a special setting for carwashes, that driver has to enable, which puts the car in neutral, closses all the windows and plus some more. Unfortunately system failed; car accelerated on its own and I hit a car in front of me, so it failed the second time and car didn't stop on its own to avoid collision. I called Tesla and this incident is under their investigation.

I am reporting a serious safety concern involving my Tesla Model Y. While driving, the vehicle’s main center screen (MCU) suddenly failed and entered a continuous reboot loop. This resulted in the loss of critical driving information and controls, including navigation, camera display, and vehicle system status. The issue occurred without any warning and nearly caused a serious accident, as I was unable to safely monitor essential driving information. This failure made the vehicle extremely unsafe to operate. The problem appears to be related to a known MCU system failure affecting some Tesla vehicles. I am concerned that this issue may present a broader safety risk for other drivers. Please investigate this matter for potential safety defects.

Following a 25-day repair at a certified collision center due to an earlier accident, the vehicle's Full Self-Driving (FSD) and Active Safety Systems began failing. The vehicle repeatedly failed to keep speed and failed to stay centered in the lane. On March 25, 2026, while traveling at low speed on a public roadway with FSD actively engaged, the system failed to maintain a stable path and incorrectly steered the vehicle into a curb, causing property damage to the wheel. This failure put my safety and the safety of surrounding traffic at risk by executing an unpredictable steering maneuver that the active safety systems failed to prevent. The vehicle was taken to the manufacturer's service center twice with this specific complaint prior to the curb strike. The service center investigated and officially concluded that this was not a software issue, stating that they could do nothing else. They deferred the resolution back to the collision shop, citing likely camera/sensor physical misalignment from the 25-day body repair. The collision shop is now refusing to review the vehicle or inspect the hardware, claiming lack of visible exterior damage despite the internal service team stating this is a latent hardware alignment defect. The vehicle is currently in the same failing condition and available for inspection upon request. No warning lamps or error messages appeared on the screen prior to the failure or the curb strike. The symptom of unpredictable lane tracking first appeared immediately upon receiving the vehicle back from the collision repair earlier this year. Note: I have a formal data privacy request pending with Tesla to pull the exact chat logs showing their refusal to service this hardware defect. I will provide these to the investigator upon follow-up.

My vehicle was struck on the left rear quarter panel causing me to lose control, hit a second vehicle, and travel off the road to the hazard lane. The vehicle was declared a total loss by the insurance company. Despite the severity of the impact, none of the airbags deployed. The Florida state crash report confirms airbags were marked as Not Deployed. The vehicle is currently at a salvage yard and is available for inspection. No warning lamps related to the airbag system were present prior to the crash. The vehicle was delivered with a critical safety defect in the braking system and inoperable safety software (GPS/FSD/Navigation). Upon further inspection by the dealer's own technician, it was confirmed that the vehicle had 'EXTREMELY POOR BRAKE FEEL' and 'EXTREME RUST BUILD UP' on all pads and rotors, which violated Tesla’s 6mm minimum safety standard for used vehicles. Additionally, a physically damaged windshield harness caused the failure of GPS and FSD features. These defects posed a significant safety risk to myself and my family during operation. The dealer has documented and confirmed these safety issues but is now refusing a buyback and is retaliating with storage fees for my rejection of the unsafe product. No warning lights appeared prior to the technician's discovery of the brake defects.

On January 9th my wife got into an accident in our 2022 Tesla Model Y vehicle. She reported that as she was backing out of a prking spot in a strip mall, the vrhicle suddenly accelerated backward involuntarely which resulted in colliding with a vehicle which was approaching from the rear side. My wife reported the speed was so violent that she felt dizziness. When she took the car bto the Tesla shop for repair by the insurance, the Tesla repair people discounted her reporting and did not do any follow-up to investigate the issue. Note the onboard camera recorded the swift movement of the vehicle and I will try to upload it. We have read that such problem was looked into by the NTHSA in the past and that it is being revisited again. In 9/2025 I noticed that the vehicle software was defaulting to a speed limit of 55 mph. I noticed that when in any form of autopilot and FSD it would accelerate to that speed. This happens in any situation before the car encounters a sign or an area that it's internal map corrects it, which is not common outside of major routes in Idaho. This includes paved marked roads, graded roads, single track dirt roads, my driveway and garage. Sometimes the car controls it's speed consistent with conditions, sometimes not. It can happen unexpectedly, and that's the issue. Where I have learned this is a problem, I of course turn off the AP or FSD and drive myself, however, if I am in driver assist mode and things are going well and the speed limit in the vehicle changes suddenly to the default 55 mph, it can take a moment for me to react. In October 2025 I reported this to my Tesla Service center as well as Tesla's over the air and on line email reporting options (from which I got no response). The service center entered a ticket directly with Tesla, and told me that that Tesla was aware. The explanation that came back was that it was due to a mapping update for the internal map of the car. They said it was the result of Google Maps setting the default speed limit in Idaho, which is where I live, to 55 and that this was due to a September 2025 update. They said it might be corrected with the next update, which has not occurred at this point (January 2026). This speeding behavior can happen suddenly and unexpectedly and seemingly randomly, and has the potential to injure pedestrians, the driver, and property, not to mention that it is also exceeding by far the legal speed limit. Drivers from other areas that may not be aware of the issue are likely to be caught unaware. There is absolutely no reason for the default speed to be 55, ever. It's unsafe, and unnecessary. It is rare to see a speed limit of 55 at all in Idaho. Most of the roads are above or below that speed limit.

On [XXX], while using Full Self-Driving (FSD) to drive to a hospital in Oak Park, Illinois, the vehicle experienced sudden unintended acceleration during the disengagement of FSD. As the vehicle approached the hospital area, I initiated disengagement of FSD to manually enter the parking area. During—or immediately after—the disengagement, the vehicle suddenly accelerated at full power without warning, causing an immediate loss of control and a collision with a nearby fixed structure. No system warnings or alerts were issued prior to the event, and the acceleration was so abrupt that manual intervention was not possible. This occurred in a low-speed, street-level environment where no acceleration was intended or expected and does not correspond to any normal driver input. Based on review of preliminary incident data provided by Tesla, there appear to be irregularities during the FSD-to-manual control transition, including missing or invalid input values, gaps in accelerator/brake/steering signals, and speed readings inconsistent with the crash severity. These indicators suggest potential instability in the real-time control system during disengagement. This report is submitted due to concern that sudden unintended acceleration during FSD disengagement may represent a safety defect with potential risk to drivers and the public. On October 13th 2025, while driving, I began to hear a clunking and rattling sound from the front left wheel area when braking. Concerned for my safety, I brought the vehicle to a local independent brake specialist for inspection. Their technician found that one of the two bolts securing the brake caliper was completely missing, and the remaining bolt was approximately halfway backed out. The shop explained that this condition presented an immediate risk of caliper detachment and total brake failure, potentially leading to serious injury or death. After both bolts were replaced and properly torqued, the brake noise that Tesla had previously attributed to “pad burnishing” disappeared entirely. This indicates that the squeaking and vibration symptoms Tesla dismissed were, in fact, caused by an improperly secured caliper—a direct safety issue, not a normal wear condition. I notified Tesla legal of this problem (via certified mail) on October 13 2025 and requested a response within 14 days. I have received no such response, nor have I been contacted for further investigation into this dangerous situation with my vehicle.

After installing the most recent Tesla software update, my vehicle immediately displayed multiple alerts: traction control disabled, stability control disabled, and reduced steering assist. Cameras were disabled, navigation was disabled and my vehicle location was wrong. The vehicle lost core safety systems that are critical to safe driving The car functioned normally before the update. Immediately afterward, these safety systems were disabled. Tesla Service has since diagnosed and confirmed, They state “an internal short within the drive assistance module (computer). The internal short is causing excessive current draw, resulting in loss of driver assistance features. The latest software has revealed the underlying root issue within the car computer.” This indicates that the vehicle was operating with a latent defect that Tesla’s diagnostic update exposed. The update did not cause wear-and-tear failure; it surfaced a hidden safety defect inside Tesla’s own hardware. Why This Is a Safety Concern Loss of traction control, stability control, and steering assist creates a significant risk of loss of vehicle control. If this had occurred while driving at speed, the sudden loss of these systems could have led to an accident. Attempting a reboot while driving (Tesla’s standard troubleshooting suggestion) would have created further distraction and risk. luckily when the car catastrophically failed and was unable to turn, I was in my driveway and not on a highway or any other roads.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The car exhibited a noise from the drivers side (LH) rear brake caliper, car was brought into Tesla for repair and it was determined that "Technician Notes: Technician inspected and verified excessive noise from the driver's side rear brake when applied, as reported by the customer. The noise was caused by a loose brake caliper on the left rear side. The technician replaced the left rear brake caliper and performed a brake fluid bleed/flush to resolve the issue. After the repair, the technician confirmed that the brake noise was no longer present." Tesla Service. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Brake caliper coming loose reduces brake performance and could lead to catastrophic failure and accident. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, see above. Tesla Service center "resolved" the issue by replacing the caliper. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No inspection, beyond Tesla service noted above. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning lights, just a clicking sound from the caliper, sounded loose.

I resubmitted a service request around September 2024 to look at the issue but they said they will look into my request for warranty but never got back to me. Fast forward to 2025 I submit another service request because the warning message keepings popping up more frequently and I read that Tesla SRS warranty is up until 60,000 miles which as of January 2024 I was still within. Now they are denying my claims because I didnt request a service within warranty period. I wasn't aware of the SRS warranty and Tesla employee saying i am outside the warranty and deny my warranty claim which was either incorrect, a lie or both. I have tried explaining to them multiple times but every time they say its outside of warranty now.

"From Ioniq 5 to MYLR Why I’m Never Going Back Alright, so I used to drive a 23’ Hyundai Ioniq. Great little car. Nice tech, smooth ride, the works. But let’s be real… when it came to charging, it was like playing a high-stakes game of “Find the open Charger.” And spoiler alert: most of the time, I lost. I spent way too much time at charging stations with a 30-40 minute wait just to get some juice, trying to entertain my wife and kids in sketchy lots with rare amenities. Or I’d have to settle for some random off-brand station in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do, and not even a bathroom.. Fun, right? 😅 Then, in the summer of 24, I totaled my Hyundai, rear wheels hydroplaned due to heavy rain, I spun out on the highway and hit the median 3 times.. a freak accident.. Then I made the upgrade to a 21’ Tesla Model Y Long Range (MYLR). Now, I’m cruising with FSD (Full Self Driving), popping into Tesla Superchargers, and guess what? No more waiting in lines. The stations are at actual places, so while I’m charging, I can walk into Target, grab a Venti Iced Americano, and pretend I’m not in a hurry while my car is doing all the hard work. The Ioniq’s frunk? Tiny. Seriously, it’s like another glovebox. Now, I’ve got an actual USEFUL frunk and a spacious trunk to boot. If you’ve got kids, you get it. The Tesla’s space is a game changer. It’s not just for groceries, it’s for real everyday life. And let’s not forget, once you get used to the future with FSD… you won’t want to go back to any other car. But here’s the real kicker: Over-the-air upgrades. Yup. Every time I see a recall in the news, I’m just like, “Cool, my Tesla is updating itself while I’m asleep.” No need to drive to the service center, no hassle. I just wake up with a better car. And did I mention it’s SO FAST? Seriously, I have the acceleration boost, and I use it often. Actually, I just finished toying with a Porsche 911 today. Guess who won that race? 😂 (It was me, in case you were wondering.) So, to anyone still on the fence: Sure, the Ioniq is a solid car for the price, but if you really want to live in the future, deal with fewer charging headaches, get more space and perks, and rarely have to drive to the service center…the Tesla MYLR is the obvious upgrade and worth all the hype. For anyone who’s thinking of jumping into the Tesla world.. take it from someone who’s been in the “budget EV” world: once you experience this, you won’t want to go back. Trust !"

"Model Y - HW4 - "Disappointingly" flawless experience :) Picked up my Model Y (with HW4) on May 29. Ordered on Apr 23. Vin F793xxx. North California. Pre-delivery experience: Awesome service during pre-delivery. I messaged the service agents to ask about HW3 vs HW4 on my car. They replied promptly and confirmed HW4. I also requested to pre-pone my car pick-up time. They proposed an earlier timeslot. They were friendly and helpful throughout our conversation, even replying with a warm "you are welcome.". Totally exceeded my expectation, especially considering the complaints I've seen on the forums about unresponsive service agents. Delivery experience: I was super anxious about the build quality and the support I would receive at the delivery site (North California). Again, I probably read too many “horror” stories in Tesla forums. But, after arriving at the delivery office, I was greeted immediately by Tesla staff. The staff welcomed me and offered help. As I proceeded to inspect my car, which was conveniently parked right in front of the office, the staff continuously offered their help in the most friendly and non-pushy manner. I was again surprised by the friendliness and professionalism of the Tesla staff. Model Y build quality: Equipped with a checklist I found on GitHub (GitHub - polymorphic/tesla-model-y-checklist: Checklist for Tesla Model Y), I meticulously examined my car. To my absolute delight, I couldn't find any flaws! The build quality was impeccable, without gap issues, paint chips, or misalignments. The delivery center had taken great care to clean and detail the car before my pick-up. Hope you will have the same great experience as me! Enjoy your new Model Y."

"I Test Drove a Model Y Today - WOW I test drove the Tesla Model Y today. I had never been in a Tesla previously. I was floored by this car. I'm sold. Regenerative braking is interesting. I was trying to explain to friends my driving experience. So there is a master brake pedal but you don't use it much. If you ever played the old school RC cars, where you pull the trigger and the car zooms off, and you ease off on the trigger and the car slows, that's exactly how the Tesla drives. You have a zoom pedal! And if you ease off on the zoom pedal you slow rather quickly and will come to a stop. The concept took me a few minutes because it's so foreign to how I learned to drive 30+ years ago. Very fun after you learn the perfect touch on the zoom pedal! Speaking of zoom. I was not prepared for just how fast this car is. I literally burst out laughing every time I hit the pedal because the sensation is just insane. So fun. Much to my SOs chagrin I hit the freeway with the intention of using Autopilot. I let the car drive itself for a couple of minutes. Perfectly navigated down I80 at 75mph. Felt solid. Lastly my SO and I came away with the same impression on fit and finish and overall build quality. After reading many horror stories over the years about Tesla's quality, this car was flawless in and out. Very upscale feel inside. Quiet and comfortable. Really happy with the car in that respect as well. The TouchPad was very intuitive. I ordered a Red LR. Still undecided on FSD. I was happy with the performance of Auto Pilot. But I might change my mind before the price increase on June 1st. Amazing car! I took some photos and my friend has already customized my car for me. Imgur"

"Tesla with HW4 FSD is the best daily driving experience I ever had. FSD was doing 80% of my driving a couple months ago, now it’s like 95%. Supercharger network is nice, but FSD is the feature I can’t live without."

"FSD drive issue I bought a 2026 Tesla model y in February. I had a turn signal light fixed the beginning of april. It was an error that happened in the rain. When the tech left I lost access to FSD. It requires a camera software update. I tried the calibration and even did the das reset in service mode. I can't get an appointment to fix until 20 may. Is there anyone I can complain to this isn't my fault I cant even use regular cruise control. I miss FSD but not even cruise control is bonkers."

"The Tesla Model Y LR Brand new car continues to have issues after the software update after 3 attempts to fix it, and the loaner was denied :(. What would you do next? We picked up our brand-new Tesla at the end of December 2023. We were very excited as it was our first car. After testing multiple vehicles of different brands, we decided on getting the TESLA Model Y majorly because of its convenience features, i.e., Blind spot indicator, Side Camera, Backup Camera, Navigation, Autopilot, etc. Within 15 days of driving, we got a Sentry mode failure error on our Tesla app. Upon further investigation, we also found that the side cameras, backup cameras, and navigation were also not working. **Attempt 1:** We immediately took it to the service center in Jan to see if they could help us fix the issue. The service center accepted all the problems and mentioned they needed time to fix them as it might be a computer or firmware update issue. They gave us a loaner and assured us to resolve the issue. Four days later, we got a message notification that the car was fixed, and when we went to pick it up, we noticed the cameras were blacking out intermittently(2-5) seconds. They again took the car, gave us the loaner, and mentioned they would send this to a high-caliber technician to fix it. **Attempt 2:** Fifteen days later, we again got the notification to pick up the car, as it had been fixed, but this time, while picking it up, we noticed water getting clogged at the trunk hatch. We brought this to the service help desk, and they again kept it at the service center as they needed time to fix it. **Attempt 3:** After a few days, for the third time, we got a notification that all issues were resolved, and we were finally excited, keeping our hopes high to drive back our car home happily. But again, lousy luck, as when we went to pick up the car and moved out of the parking lot, our vehicle was swamped with all of the issues we faced in January 2024. This time, again, no cameras on screen, navigation, autopilot, or sentry mode were working anymore. We immediately addressed it to the service center. They asked to wait patiently for the next update when the issues will fix themselves. They have no timeline for when we will get the new update. They had engineering work on the car multiple times and confirmed it was not a computer replacement and would not solve these as it was a firmware issue. The service helpdesk argued that these Cameras, Blind spot indicators, Side Cameras, Backup Cameras, Navigation, Autopilot, etc., are all convenient features, and the car is safe to drive to, which we disagree with as the decision to buy a Tesla car was significant because of these features which makes it safe to drive. They even said, "Sorry about the inconvenience caused, but we won't be able to give you the loaner back." In the service summary, they asked to do a scroll reset if the issue occurs in the future. I have done that four times, but none"

"Those of you who bought your car in 2022 and paid $70K out the door for your Model Y, how do you feel knowing that it is barely worth more than $30K 15,000 miles later? View Poll"
