Buyer brief · 252 words

The 2024 Genesis GV60 Standard packs 294 miles of EPA range, 240 kW fast charging and a 74 kWh battery, and the score gets it into the conversation; battery and service records decide whether to make an offer.

Score read

A 67/100 makes this a paperwork-and-test-drive decision. The useful split is software and driver-assist score at 98/100 versus range and efficiency score at 43/100. Owners on Reddit repeatedly cite software tech and build quality as recurring problems. If the seller cannot show recall completion, price that risk or move on.

Is it a good deal?

Fair price Priced in line with depreciation curve and condition

Used examples are running around $32,700 against a $53,350 original sticker, about 61% of new. A reasonable spot for the score, but condition matters more than the headline number; verify recall completion, battery health, and service history.

Who this is for

✓ Good for

  • Daily commuter ≤50 mi/day, predictable charging

✗ Avoid if you are a

No persona-level disqualifiers — fits broadly.

Gotchas

  • Serviceable Recall paperwork has to match the exact VIN.

Mitigation Use NHTSA and the automaker lookup, then require repair records instead of a verbal promise.

  • Built in Range is the easy place to overbuy this trim (43/100).

Mitigation Check your commute, winter margin, and fast-charge plan before you assume the EPA number fits your use.

Pre-purchase inspection

  • 1 Run the exact VIN through NHTSA and the automaker recall lookup before discussing price.
  • 2 Compare the dashboard range estimate with the EPA 294-mile rating after a full charge.
  • 3 Confirm how much of the 10-year/100,000-mile battery warranty remains and whether it transfers.
  • 4 If road trips matter, run a short DC fast-charge session and watch whether speed tapers normally.
  • 5 Map your normal highway route and winter margin against the EPA range before you treat it as a road-trip car.

During a routine left hand turn at low speed (~10-15MPH), the vehicle engaged emergency braking. The dashboard indicated emergency braking was enabled. There were no objects in the vehicle's path. Acceleration was not possible during the event. Because the braking was unexpected and unintentional, the vehicle behind nearly collided with me.

Last year there was a recall associated with this vehicle due to the ICCU (Integrated Charging Control Unit). Two visits to the dealership were required to resolve the issue (November and December 2024). My vehicle was running properly until 11/17/25 PM when while freeway driving home I experienced a power failure that prompted me to immediately pull over to check the power circuit. My vehicle lost power, going from 65 mph to the 40's, and later the 20's. I was fortunately able to exit the freeway without incident and limped into a nearby dealership after hours where I left my car for repair. I suspect this may be another issue with the ICCU. I am still waiting on the dealership's diagnostics. I am reporting this incident, as based on internet forums, this issue remains a safety problem for the Genesis GV60. I was very fortunate not to have cars immediately behind me when the power failure occurred. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - ELECTRICAL How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - I WAS AT RISK FOR A REAR END COLLISION ON THE FREEWAY DUE TO THE ABRUPT LOSS OF POWER Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - DEALERSHIP IS STILL WORKING ON CAR Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - NO Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - NO PRIOR WARNING SIGNS

While I was parking in the lot, the vehicle nearly came to a stop when it abruptly accelerated on its own. My foot was firmly planted on the brake, a standard practice at the end of the parking process. The sudden acceleration made it impossible to regain control, resulting in a collision with the parking lot sign and a small tree. I took decisive action to steer the vehicle away from the glass door of the building in front of me, but it ultimately struck the building wall to my right. This incident highlights serious safety issues, specifically Sudden Unintended Acceleration (SUA) and a failure of the Collision Avoidance Assist safety technology.

On December 1, 2025 the car gave a series of messages on the screen indicating that there was an issue with the electrical system. I was within a mile of home and so drove home because it was operating normally at first. Driving home the car went into a limp mode and could only go very slowly 15-20 mph probably). The car was towed from my house on 12/1/2025. The issue turned out to be a bad Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). The car was fixed on 12/16/2025. I just wanted to make sure this failure was counted.

On March 1, 2026, while driving at normal roadway speed on a double yellow-lined road, my 2024 Genesis GV60 Advance displayed a "Check Electric Vehicle System" warning. With less than one minute of the warning appearing, the vehicle lost propulsion and rolled to a stop. I was able to steer into a parking lot, but I was stranded miles from home. There was minimal advance warning before complete loss of drive power. The vehicle could not be driven and required towing. The vehicle previously had the ICCU recall campaign marked as complete on January 3, 2025. Despite that prior recall remedy, the vehicle experienced sudden loss of propulsion. The vehicle is currently at the dealership for diagnosis and repair. The dealership has indicated extended diagnostic time and that related parts are on backorder. I am filing this compliant because sudden propulsion loss with little warning presents a significant safety risk to both occupants and surrounding traffic.

Electrical failure. Car was stuck in neutral on a hill with houses behind. Could not put in park, apply hazard light, or apply emergency brake. Could not exit the car safely due the fact if you took your foot of the brake the car would roll backward down hill uncontrolled. The approximately 52-inch-long chrome trim piece that runs the length of the top of the windshield came off while driving. Because this trim piece is at the top of the windshield, and out of the view of the driver, I am uncertain exactly when it came off, but I believe it came off while at freeway speed, and that is why I do not have, or know, the location of the missing trim. A trim piece of this size (approximately 52 inches) coming off my vehicle at freeway speed would have passed over the top of my vehicle and posed a safety hazard to a motorist or motorbike rider behind me. The manufacturer’s authorized dealer confirmed the missing piece and replaced it under warranty. I heard oddly pronounced wind noises before I noticed the trim piece was missing, and I believe, in retrospect, the noise may have been created by the loose trim piece prior to completing dislodging from the vehicle.

"After a bunch of shopping around, I just leased a BMW i4 e35 to replace my Tesla as my new daily I've been in the fortunate position to have a weekend fun car + daily 2 car garage for a while. For a daily Tesla Model 3 for 4 years until I sold it last summer for almost how much I paid for it initially, right before I moved to another country. Now I'm back in the States and I need another daily again. No, despite what you hear the 718 GTS is a terrible daily driver, especially a manual one in this atrocious Pacific Northwest traffic. After 2 weeks my left calf is now visibly larger than my right one, thanks to the heavy clutch. And getting around 16 mpg when gas price is $6/gallon doesn't feel good either. The following are the cars I considered and drove: **Tesla Model 3**: Best cost/performance EV powertrain in the business. A Model 3 Performance is 15% cheaper than a Kia EV6 GT and 30% cheaper than a BMW i4 M50, while having longer range and the Tesla charger network. But I want something different this time around. I wanted something with a *premium* interior and good noise insulation, two things that I disliked the most about the Model 3. **Kia EV6**: Great packaging and good platform. Looks good from the outside, a ton of space inside, decent range and very good value. The interior material/build quality feels cheap. However the deal breaker was the seats. Something was protruding weirdly in the back against my lower spine and I couldn't get comfortable no matter what. Tried lumbar adjustment, different car, etc, didn't go away. Can't buy a car that I don't feel"

"I Chose the Q8 etron: Here's Why There are a lot of EV choices, but here is why I chose the Q8 etron which I'll just refer to as Q8 from here on. Previously I have had 3 etrons (2019 premium plus, 2019 edition one, 2021 prestige), 2023 Tesla Model 3 Performance, 2023 Genesis GV60 Performance, 2022 Audi Q4 etron, and 2023 VW ID.4. My etrons were always my favorite, but when used car prices spiked in 2021, and my job changed, it made sense to sell it. My Tesla I hated. Even if the car was perfect, the customer experience was so awful I wouldn't consider another one. No doubt Tesla has the easiest and best user experience when it comes to the app, charging, route planning, etc., However, I couldn't get over AP shutting off with every lane change ($6k EAP would fix that), the excessive noise on the highway, and the auto high beams never being able to decide if they should be on or off. The Genesis was trouble-free and I really enjoyed the fast charge times and all of the luxury features. My only complaint was the not-so-good highway efficiency (2.6-2.7 mi/kWh in 60 degree temps), which mattered to me at the time. The Q4 I really liked. It was very familiar Audi with no weird EV specific stuff that some manufacturers like to do. It got slightly better efficiency than the GV60 and it had a slightly larger useable battery pack. The only real letdown was the charging speeds. Next was the ID.4. It was significantly cheaper than the Q4, had much better charging speeds, travel assist was better, and the ride/ handling was nearly identical to the Q4. The real reason I"

"Go to "owners.genesis.com"and on the dashboard, click on "Update now" under Map Updates and follow the instructions to download the Navigation Updater Download. You'll need a USB drive and a USB A to USB C converter to upgrade manually from the download. I'm assuming that update should contain everything to bring a car up to date, but I could be wrong. I think I read that if the car doesn't have a minimum software upgrade, that an update may not work. Of course it didn't state what the minimum version of the software it required. Can't recall if that referred only to OTA or both OTA and manual updates.
