2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV 5WT (11 kW Charger): a mid-pack composite means the records-and-test-drive call matters more than the headline.
Score read
A 68/100 makes this worth comparing, not chasing. Software and driver-assist score is 97/100, but owner feedback score is only 47/100. Reddit threads cluster around range and owner satisfaction — verify both against the service records. Treat missing repair records as a price problem, not a footnote.
Price context
This trim started from $75,700 new. Used examples have come down since launch, but pricing varies by miles, condition, and how the model is moving right now; pull a current KBB Fair Purchase, an Edmunds True Market Value, or an active dealer listing for this exact trim, and anchor your offer there. Walk if the seller will not move off new-car-style pricing.
Who this is for
✓ Good for
- ⏱ Daily commuter ≤50 mi/day, predictable charging
✗ Avoid if you are a
- ↦ Road tripper Long trips, needs DC fast network
- $ Bargain hunter Best TCO, reliability + low depreciation
Gotchas
- Serviceable Recall paperwork has to match the exact VIN.
Mitigation Use NHTSA and the automaker lookup, then require repair records instead of a verbal promise.
- Verify Owner feedback is the part to read carefully (47/100).
Mitigation Read the complaint themes and ask whether this VIN has already had those issues repaired.
- Verify Current market pricing is not confirmed well enough for this trim.
Mitigation Compare KBB, J.D. Power, and live listings for the same trim before treating price as a buying signal.
Pre-purchase inspection
- 1 Run the exact VIN through NHTSA and the automaker recall lookup before discussing price.
- 2 Compare the dashboard range estimate with the EPA 422-mile rating after a full charge.
- 3 Confirm how much of the 8-year/100,000-mile battery warranty remains and whether it transfers.
- 4 If road trips matter, run a short DC fast-charge session and watch whether speed tapers normally.
- 5 Read the complaint themes, not just the count, and ask the seller whether those issues have shown up on this VIN.
VIN status first This model has 3 NHTSA recall records. The exact VIN lookup decides whether the car in front of you is clear.
Complaint context This scan found 107 NHTSA complaint records (125.9 per 10K VINs, high — material safety/build concern). Read the themes below before treating the raw count as the verdict.
Price anchor Current market range is $74,684-$75,195. Use that range to compare listings for the same trim, mileage, and condition.

Dealers make ~$17,219 on the average car loan.
After the price is set, the finance manager runs four plays to rebuild margin. Every buyer without a pre-approval is a target. Here's exactly what they run — and what stops each one.
78% of dealer loans carry a hidden +1.13% markup above what the lender actually charges. You never see it — it's buried in the contract. · CFPB
Dealer must match or beat your lender — they can't add margin invisibly. The markup play is dead on arrival.
Once you answer, they stretch the term to hit your number. Median result: $4K less off the price, 12 more months on the loan. · Industry avg
Financing is done. Only the sale price is on the table — and the dealer knows it.
Back-office F&I profit averages $1,975/vehicle, up 8.5% YoY. These products exist — but dealer markup is 4–10x what you'd pay elsewhere. · Dealership Guy
Dealer GAP runs $500–1K. Your insurer sells the same coverage for $100–250 over 5 years. Now you know.
"Your loan fell through — come re-sign." This pulls your APR up +5% on average. It's legal. It works because you've already driven the car home. · Ctr for Responsible Lending
A lender commitment letter means the deal is final. "Pending dealer approval" doesn't apply. You can't be yo-yo'd.
That's 15 months of your car payment — handed to the dealer's finance department for nothing.
Takes 2 minutes. No obligation to use it — but you'll walk in with all the leverage.
Pre-approval is a soft credit inquiry — no score impact. FICO treats all auto-loan hard pulls within 14 days as one, so you can still shop rates at the dealer.

On April 13, 2026, I experienced two safety-related malfunctions while driving my 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 LTZ on a two-lane highway in light rain. At approximately 6:24:05 PM, the windshield wipers stopped in the upright position for about 2–3 seconds while the vehicle was in motion, causing a temporary loss of forward visibility. At approximately 6:26:56 PM, while traveling around 65 MPH, the forward collision/adaptive cruise system falsely detected a vehicle in my lane when none was present and applied sudden, hard braking without driver input. This caused a noticeable forward pitch of the vehicle. At approximately 6:27:13 PM, the system again indicated a vehicle ahead when there was none. Road conditions were wet, and this unexpected braking created a risk of loss of control or a rear-end collision. The systems involved include the windshield wipers and forward collision/adaptive cruise control. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. There were no warning lamps prior to these incidents. The only indication was a false vehicle detection displayed on the instrument cluster and heads-up display. These issues have not yet been reproduced by the dealer, as they were just reported to both the dealership and GM. The vehicle has only been inspected by the dealership to date. The truck also has ongoing issues, including frequent audio cutting out (6+ service visits, unresolved) and intermittent failure of the camera system to activate, which has been previously documented and not corrected. Dashcam footage is available for both incidents and can be provided for review. These issues appear intermittent and without warning, making them difficult to anticipate or mitigate during normal driving. The unexpected nature of both the wiper malfunction and unintended braking increases the overall safety risk, especially in adverse weather and highway conditions.

My vehicle frequently loses all cabin sound, including the radio, audible turn signal, and forward/rear collision and lane departure warnings. When this occurs, the cabin is completely silent. The loss of radio audio is an inconvenience, but the loss of safety feature alerts is a clear hazard. My dealership has suggested this may be related to a recent software update; however, there is no apparent correlation between the updates and when the issue occurs.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The engine in my 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 experienced a catastrophic internal failure caused by a failed thrust bearing in the crankshaft assembly. The failure caused the engine to stop operating immediately and without warning. The vehicle and engine are currently at a dealership/service facility and the failed components should be available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The engine failed suddenly while the vehicle was being driven through an intersection, causing the vehicle to stall and lose power in active traffic. This left my family stranded in the middle of the roadway with vehicles approaching from multiple directions. Because the engine failure occurred without warning, we were unable to move the vehicle out of the intersection immediately, creating a serious risk of a collision with other vehicles. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The failure has been inspected and confirmed by the dealership/service center, which determined that the engine experienced a thrust bearing failure leading to catastrophic engine damage and loss of power. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? At this time, the vehicle has been inspected by the dealership/service department. The vehicle remains available for further inspection by the manufacturer or other parties if requested. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There were no warning lights, messages, or noticeable symptoms prior to the engine failure. The vehicle was operating normally immediately before the incident. The engine shut down suddenly and without any prior indication that a mechanical failure was imminent.

I have taken my vehicle to the dealership, Preston, Hood Chevrolet, Fort Walton Beach, Florida. The problem I’m having is the avoidance system! Not getting warning nor will the vehicle stop an emergency situation where I’m going forward in a vehicle stops quickly in front of me nor will it work if a person is walking behind my vehicle or if there’s a vehicle behind my vehicle when I’m backing out of my driveway. They keep telling me everything checks out on the computer and they keep saying it’s normal and it’s only meant to possibly slow down the vehicle before a crash. They do not give me any definitive answer and they also escalated to GM response is basically the same thing. You can read all over the Internet that a lot of people have this problems. I have friends that own the same truck and it works perfectly. My truck will not. It’s very frustrating because one of the reasons why I bought a new vehicle like this was for those safety reasons. Also, when I am pulling out of a parking spot and turning the wheel, the truck accelerates by itself and goes into cruise control. Only doing a few miles per hour. And this might be because of the location of the activation of the cruise control switch. It is a lever on the steering wheel and it’s easily to engage. And I don’t understand why it would engage at such a slow speed. I’ve had several situations where a vehicle has stopped suddenly in front of me and my truck will not respond at all with a late morning shaking of the seats no alarm and no breaking luckily I was able to stop in time with my own reaction. The technicians will not work on this because the computer says it’s OK. It seems like they have technicians but not mechanics. My opinion. I spent a lot of money for this truck and I’m [XXX] although my reactions are still pretty good. I’m looking at a vehicle that will assist if I do not react. This vehicle doesn’t react and I paid for this and I am afraid when I need the avoidance system, it won’t work. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORM

Prior to this incident, I had been having issues with my fuel management system give a “reduced acceleration” warning (codes P0087, P228B) in weather below 28-30F. It was in the shop 3 times prior: first time was “bad fuel”, second had my fuel rail and fuel filter replaced, and third time I had my high pressure fuel pump replaced (also had a rear crank seal leak). While approaching a stop sign, my vehicle gave me a check engine light with a “Reduced Acceleration” warning followed by several other warning messages and then ultimately lost power and shut off give me no ability to steer or brake my vehicle. Luckily, my vehicle came to stop and no crash or injuries occurred. If this had been at higher speeds the outcome could have been fatal to myself or another driver/passenger on the road. This incident also gave me a P0087, P12A6, P228A, and P228B error codes. I was able to restart the vehicle and make it home. The following day, the “Reduced Acceleration” message once again appeared. The vehicle is currently at the dealer awaiting diagnosis and repair.

Following vehicle startup, the entire audio system defaults to a muted state, affecting all sound output channels. This includes, but is not limited to: Critical Safety Alerts: Seat belt warnings, system malfunction indicators, and door ajar chimes. Proximity and Collision Warnings: Parking assist chimes, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA) warnings, and Backup Collision Intervention (BCI) alerts. Communication Systems: Navigation prompts and hands-free/Bluetooth call audio. The audio failure persists until manual user intervention or the next vehicle cycle, disabling critical warning redundancy. Safety Implications The system-wide audio failure directly compromises the safety of vehicle occupants and surrounding pedestrians in two primary ways: Risk to Pedestrians: The silencing of proximity and backup collision warnings (RCTA, BCI) removes a vital layer of redundancy, significantly increasing the risk of striking vulnerable road users, such as children, while maneuvering in reverse. Impaired Driver Safety & Compliance: The defect also removes essential alerts like seat belt warnings and renders the mandated hands-free communication system inoperable, forcing potential driver distraction or non-compliance with driving regulations. Conclusion This audio muting defect is a critical safety failure that disables mandated auditory warning systems, severely limiting the driver's ability to operate the vehicle safely and respond to immediate, unseen hazards. Immediate investigation and resolution are necessary.

While driving down IH10 in Boerne, TX on Oct 15, 2025, I saw smoke coming into the vehicle from the A/C vents. I immediately pulled over and put it in park, opened the driver door to get out and turned back to my truck to flames shooting out between the rear passenger side of the cab and in front on the bed of the truck. I had a UHaul trailer in tow and immediately unhooked it to get it away from the truck. I returned to my truck to retrieve my phone and proceeded to watch in desbelief as my truck and belongings went up in flames. It was fully engulfed within 30 seconds with no warnings from inside the truck while driving. Took firefighters over two hours to distinguish the flames fully.

There are two systems that are a hazard and dangerous on the Silverado EV. The First one is the Automatic High Beams. The Auto high beams will continuously flash other drivers on the road. This can blind other drivers and possibly case a crash. The other Dangerous safety feature on the vehicle is the Automatic Emergency Braking. The AEB feature when crawling behind another vehicle in bumber to bumper traffic will randomly just slam on the brakes unnecessarily which could cause a rear end collision. When this happens, There is no need for emergency braking as I am in full control of the vehicle. It will just slam on the brakes and the vehicle will come to a complete sudden stop. I have reported the issues to the manufacturer and instead of correcting the issue, They've advised to turn the features off. This defeats the purpose of the vehicle coming with these features. General motors needs to be required to correct these deficincies with a software update.

Transmission lock-up while driving. Rear end of vehicle jumped up felt like I was rear ended. If this happened at higher speed or when towing it could cause serious injury to myself or others. The problem is well known by the dealers and GM manufacturing, they have recalled over 400000 trucks with this issue years 2020 to 2022 and yet they are still installing the faulty control bodies in the transmission of the 2023 to 2025 models. No warning messages, there was some shifting issues just before the lock-up.

On 3/30/2026, I was driving down the road & suddenly my dash filled with warning lights about brakes, abs etc. Steering the vehicle became almost impossible because power steering was gone. When I attempted to brake, I also found that I had very little braking. The vehicle has 11,036 miles. Got the vehicle to the dealership - Capital Chevrolet from which it was purchased. It has been diagnosed as a major brake failure. Master Cylinder, booster, reservoir, seals etc. Extremely dangerous situation without any early warning signs, lights or notices.

I was driving the truck on my way to work in [XXX], last March 12, 2026, at around 6:50 am. It was raining when I entered the exit ramp to work going west; the truck died, and the steering wheel locked. I tried to start it, but it wouldn't. The dashboard displayed: 'Trailer Park Brake Failed,' 'Power Steering Pump Needs Service,' and 'Axle Repair Error.' I was on the exit ramp for a highway that runs north and south, and I could have been t-boned; it was still dark. The truck was towed to Curry Chevrolet in Scarsdale. They said it was the ECM and ordered the part. They installed the new ECM module last Tuesday, March 17. The service manager called me and said they tested the truck, but it is still showing active codes. A GM advisor called me saying the truck should be ready for pickup this Friday. However, this afternoon, I got a call from the service manager saying there is another issue—the engine wiring harness—and they will order the part; now it will not be ready until next week. GM owes me my life. I do not want to drive the vehicle. The service department people at Curry Chevrolet are very professional, but did I pay and spend a lot of money for a garbage truck? Observation: "While operating the vehicle in Reverse (R) with the One-Pedal Driving (OPD) mode enabled, the expected aggressive regenerative braking deceleration is disabled or significantly reduced compared to when driving forward in Drive (D). Safety Concern: "This creates an unexpected driving experience where the car continues to coast/accelerate without input when the accelerator is released, requiring the driver to use the traditional friction brake pedal to stop the vehicle. This goes against the driver's established muscle memory and expectation from OPD in Drive, creating a potential safety risk, especially in tight maneuvering situations where quick, expected stopping is necessary." Suggested Action: "Review the design choice to disable/reduce OPD-level regenerative braking in Reverse to determine if a gradual or driver-selectable level of regen braking could be safely implemented to maintain consistency with the OPD driving 'norm' and prevent unexpected coasting."

When towing a trailer, the trailer brakes will disconnect when applying medium to hard brake. This is when the brakes on the trailer are needed the most. The trailer lights still work when the brakes controller disconnects them. There was a recall on the 2024 Chevrolet HD trucks to "fix" this.

We were towing our 2025 Brinkley Z3100 Fifth Wheel and had a complete loss of trailer brakes with no warning or notification during a trip to and from the tennessee mountains from Florida. Had we not noticed the poor stopping ability it would have been an issue on any downhill grades as the trailer is in excess of 14,000 lbs. We stopped disconnected and reconnected the 7 pin connector and brakes were restored. This happened 4 times. We have made an appointment with the service department at Davis Chevrolet in Gainesville Florida however the service writer (Paul) has already indicated that he feels it is a trailer problem with the interaction of the trailer. Internet searches show this is a common problem with the GM Products and a Service Bullitin has been issued for years 2023-2024. Ours is a 2025 with the identical issues. I think there could be many many more of these out there and hope the issue can be resolved. I can reproduce the problem and it meets the full description of the Service bullitin 6379278.

Driving on road at approximately 30 mph. All lights on dash came on and car braked suddenly immediately stopping the vehicle in the middle of traffic. Could not release the brake. Car was idling very rough during this time. Turned car off and back on. Brake released but still running very rough. Made it the short trip home. Truck to dealership via wrecker. Brake was again a problem getting on and off the wrecker

The trailer brake controller randomly shuts down. We have gone through our trailer meticulously and have found zero issues. We have used this trailer with other trucks without any issues. This truck brake controller is shutting down leaving the driver with out brakes. We almost had a wreck due to this. GM keeps telling us that it is a trailer issue however the trailer works perfectly with any other truck. Someone is going to die in a wreck of this is not addressed immediately.

My vehicle was in motion down a state highway at approximately 55 mph around a corner as my 6.2 put itself into neutral and shut itself off. A message displayed on my dash stating to press start again to restart the engine. I pulled to the side of the road and attempted to do so in which nothing happened. Vehicle was towed to the dealer the same day. I was on a blind corner, experiencing complete engine failure on a busy state highway, I was near inches from being hit multiple times and sent off of a roughly 30 foot drop. My 6.2 experiencing complete engine failure at approximately 33000 miles should not be happening. The engine had no warning signs just happened traveling down the road. The dealership has ordered my engine under warranty but I remain well over 1000 on the waiting list to get a new 6.2 engine. My main concern is what happens when I get the truck back with the same malfunctioning 6.2 with no recall and no fix. How long until it breaks again? GM has done nothing else to remedy the situation and make the situation better for their loyal customers. Vehicle has been in the shop since 03/18 and has no return in the foreseeable future.

While driving on the freeway with my family in the middle of a snowstorm, my 2025 Silverado 1500 with 8,000 miles on it, suddenly dropped gears down to 1st without warning. The check engine light went on and I later found out it was the valve body that caused it. This could have cause serious harm to my family had I not maintained control of the vehicle. The dealership fixed the problem only for it to happen again a month later. The truck is still in the shop.

On March 6, 2026 exactly one month ago from today, I was driving my Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ZR2 with a 6.2 liter gas engine to a family vacation. We were traveling through our home state to another state. I was driving and my wife, along wiht two children (age [XXX] and [XXX] ) and my family dog were all riding inside the truck. We were traveling at posted highway speed approximately three hours from our home. There was a whine from the engine compartment that got progressively louder in about 30 seconds. Then the engine began to lose power. We were near a chevrolet dealer so I pulled in the service bay, where the technician swiftly told me to cut off the engine, that my crankshaft was broken and it lead to catastrophic engine failure. The vehicle is available for inspection at the same Chevrolet dealer we visited one month ago. My family's safety was put at risk because we were traveling at highway speed and the vehicle witnessed catastrophic engine failure. Due to catastrophic engine failure, the engine has not been turned on by the dealer since departing the service department. The vehicle was been inspected by the service department at a certified Chevrolet dealer. Interestingly, there were no warning lights or any type of warning other than the severe sound coming from the engine compartment. Prior to engine failure, there were no other symptoms of the problem other than the low pitched whine that progressively got louder over a ~30 second period of time. Violent shuddering, as if vehicle does not know what gear to be in. unpredictable harsh and delayed gear changes. Many repairs have been made, including transmission replacement, but issue still remains. Newberg Chevrolet dealership that did all previous repairs has denied to schedule an appointment for follow up diagnosis and needed repairs. This shuddering vehicle is unpredictable and unsafe to drive, yet GM has refused to help.

while driving down the freeway at 80 mph, in my 2025 Chevy truck with 6000 mikes, the truck suddenly locked up, almost throwing myself and my daughter into the dash, thank goodness the semi truck behind us was paying attention of we would be dead! I was able to steer it to the shoulder of the road where I unhooked the battery hoping to reset the system to no avail. Waited on the side of the road till the tow truck got there. towed the truck to my local Chevy dealer where they confirmed the engine was blown, I want Chevy to do a buyback on the truck as I have zero confidence in the truck, do not feel safe in it anymore, my daughter swore to never set foot in it again after such a dramatic event. i now have to wait a month for the dealer to install a new motor, at which time they will not give me a loaner truck, very disappointing. 1-Total engine failure. 2-Mine, my daughter, the semi truck driver, and many other surrounding drivers safety and lives were put at risk. 3- Yes the dealer has confirmed it was a totally engine loss. 4-no one else has inspected the vehicle 5- No light, sensors or warnings just a loud bang then our lives flashing before our eyes.

I HAD A 2020 CHEVY TRAIL BOSS AND THE PISTON ROD BROKE. CHEVY STATED I NEEDED A NEW MOTOR. AT THE TIME IT WAS 5 WEEKS OR MORE TO GET FIXED. I TRADED IT IN FOR THE SAME STYLE TRUCK BECAUSE I WAS ON VACATION AND NEEDED TO GET HOME. (2025 WITH THE L87 6.2 MOTOR). MY NEW TRUCK HAS 21000 MILES ON IT AND I HAVE BEEN NOTICING A ROUGHER IDLE, OIL USE BETWEEN OIL CHANGES, AND METAL DEBRIE IN THE OIL AND OIL FILTER. I’M AFRAID THIS NEW TRUCK WILL BLOW UP TOO. I LOST MONEY ON THE 2020 TRUCK AND NOW IT LOOKS LIKE THE SAME IS HAPPENING TO MY NEW ONE.

I have had my vehicle to a GM dealership three times now due to the check engine light coming on and getting an emission warning. 2/13/26 was the first visit. It was right after I filled up my tank with gas that the check engine light came on when I started driving down the road. I got an appointment at a GM dealership. They put the scanner on it and received the codes. They drove it back to the service garage and I went back to work. I received information from them that they could not fix anything because the check engine light had disappeared and there were no codes available anymore. I picked up my vehicle and a week later 2/20/26 the same thing happened after I got gas. The check engine light came on and an emission warning on my Chevy app. I stopped back into the same dealership. And the same thing happened. Scanner, codes, and then they disappeared. The third time I got gas the same thing happened again with the check engine light and emission system warning. This was on 2/28/2026. I went to a different dealership and the exact same thing happened..... scanner, codes received, schedule an appointment to get it in the following week, started the vehicle and pulled out. The check engine light was still on at that time. And the check engine light disappeared once again as I was driving down the road. Each time this has happened I have been able to use my remote start via my Chevy app along with trying to use my handheld key fob remote start. The dealerships have told me this is normal for this type of check engine light emission warning. When researching this issue there are a lot of people experiencing the same thing. Scratching my head wondering why there's not a recall on this.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? GM and dealerships have report extensive failures of the Telematics Control Module (TCM) that connects onstar and provides GPS navigation ability. There is currently no issued recall. Yes, this can be provided for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Unlike 2024 vehicles, where Android Auto is supported, providing a safe, hands free workaround for the failure of the TCM, on 2025 models, GM deliberately removed support for Android Auto to force OnStar subscription services, even for basic navigation. This greed-based decision, along with undisclosed failures of the TCM and months of back order waiting list to fix, puts drivers at significant safety risk when forced to revert to other navigation solutions. It is guaranteed this decision (putting safe navigation behind a paywall, and the mass failure of this hardware) will result in loss of life due to forcing drivers to revert to legacy and unsafe practices, including being forced to use their phone in a non-handsfree method. They also removed basic lane keeping warnings and steering, traditionally free with the vehicle and now only available with a full onstar subscription. This liability is exclusively due to the push towards subscription models at the impact of public safety. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, dealership confirmed this failure and the extent of the failures across 2025 vehicles. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? All indications were normal except no data connectivity and GPS signal was also lost. As an officer in the military, I can't standby and let this deliberate impact to public safety continu

I was driving my 2025 Chevy Silverado RST L87 (6.2) with 37,836 miles on the highway and suddenly my engine lost power and my dash said “Needs to restart”. My truck went into neutral and I was able to coast off of the highway. After coming to a complete stop, I tried to restart with no success. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership where they found metal shavings in the engine and told me I’m going to need a new engine.

Driving 30 mph down a city street when heard a pop and vehicle completely lost power at speed. Engine turned off and I coasted to a stop, which was unfortunately at an intersection and due to traffic could not get over safely. All accessories were still on however I could not restart the vehicle or put the vehicle into neutral, which left me stranded in the middle of a busy intersection. Hazards were working intermittently, at best. Had to call local PD to provide traffic control while we disconnected the battery and reconnected it while standing in an intersection. After I was able to get the vehicle restarted it had a check engine light and the OnStar app showed Transmission, Ignition, and Engine Electrical warnings. Had the vehicle towed to the dealership, where they have had it for 7 days and cannot diagnose an issue and are trying to return the vehicle to me unfixed. They stated they typically would not even try to diagnose it for this long, however I have a case open with the GM executive team.

The vehicle was driven to a job site in Gowanda NY. The computer indicated it neede to clean the exhaust filter. The truck was parked in an open area on a blacktop parking area. The truck finished a Regen approximately 30 minutes later. The vehicle was shut down and left unattended. Approx 30 minutes later, the driver, heard noises, came around a structure and saw the vehicle was on fire. The driver did attempt to use a fire extinguisher to no avail. They then called 911 and the fire department was dispatched. The department put out the fire but the vehicle is a total loss. As this was a work site, the vehicle was towed to our shop and stored inside. The inland marine insurance company hired a fire investigator, and they looked at the vehicle. They determined the fire originated on the lower firewall in the engine compartment. He paused his investigation, to await a representative of GM to be present for destructive analysis to determine exact cause. The GM case number is XXX. This vehicle had errored multiple times and did Regen every 2-300 miles. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I was driving under normal conditions and the vehicle began lurching, limiting acceleration, with an error saying "reduce acceleration". Was able to get home but the next time the truck was started there was a check engine light and the vehicle was unable to shift into reverse gear. When attempting to put it into reverse, it gives the error "conditions not correct to shift" and turn on the parking break. Trying to drive it with this issue is unsafe. The truck will lurch, limit acceleration, and overall not safe to drive. The truck only has 21k miles on it.

>Exhaust fumes are returned back in to the cab of the truck. >Exhaust fumes, particularly from diesel engines, are highly dangerous, containing carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and fine particles that can cause severe respiratory illnesses, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. Short-term exposure leads to dizziness, headaches, and nausea, while long-term exposure can be fatal or cause lasting lung damage. >Truck was taken to dealer and verified by service to be an issue. I have attached the paperwork from that appointment. >The truck was fixed by the dealer and retuned with no initial exhaust smell. The exhaust fumes have began to enter the cab of the truck again. We have contacted a new dealership service department to have the truck inspected they have given us an appointment in a week from today.

The contact owns a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving approximately 35 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment before the vehicle stalled. The vehicle failed to restart and was later towed to the local dealer and was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was informed that a piston had exploded. The dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The engine was replaced with a remanufactured engine. The contact was concerned that the engine might experience the same failure as the original engine. The contact stated that the 6.2-liter engine had been under recall for previous model years under NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and other vehicle owners' concerns. The failure mileage was 9,000.

Engine started pouring fuel out in large quantities coating the entire chassis. I was lucky, I had planned to go fishing early but had boat issue. Had I gone early in the dark it would have been catastrophic. Large amounts of gas. Pouring out. I'm lucky, when moving the truck my wife noticed the fuel was leaving a trail down the road and started screaming. I immediately parked the vehicle and I am waiting on support to get to dealer. The fuel system is a known defect on 2025/2026 Silverado but not yet identified for this HD 2500 with same 6.6l engine. Entire cab is full of gas fumes. This was extremely scary.

While driving to work on [XXX] in Huntsville AL at approximately 55MPH. I was using Chevrolet SuperCruise. I tried turning off super cruise with the super cruise button. It did not turn off, tried pressing cruise control button, nothing, tried the cancel button, nothing, pressed brakes and would not turn off. Truck started slowing in very heavy traffic, it turned hazards on. I was finally able to get it turned off. I have reported to dealer, no surprise they didn't answer, left message at 9 am this morning, no call back. I have made a report to GM. I no longer feel safe putting my family in this truck. This truck has been in shop several times for "Service driver assist", no on-star, no cellular data, extremely slow infotainment system and no supercruise available. The truck at last visit for the service driver assist took more than 2 week. I was told a camera and a software update were performed. The issues have persisted. The super cruise event yesterday was the first occurrence of this type. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The vehicle’s wireless Apple CarPlay system forces the iPhone to connect to the truck’s built-in Wi-Fi network, which does not provide internet access. When connected, iPhone cellular data is blocked, resulting in frequent loss of navigation, traffic updates, and streaming services while driving. There is no option in the vehicle settings to disable the Wi-Fi or force cellular use. Multiple troubleshooting steps have been attempted, including iPhone network resets, Wi-Fi assist, toggling data settings, and re-pairing CarPlay, all without success. This design flaw creates a safety concern because navigation and real-time traffic information can fail unexpectedly, requiring driver distraction to troubleshoot or rely on a handheld device. The issue appears to be a firmware or design limitation of the infotainment system, not a defect with the phone. Using wired CarPlay resolves the issue, but wireless CarPlay as advertised consistently blocks cellular data. I am filing this complaint to report a persistent connectivity and safety problem that affects all users of wireless CarPlay on this vehicle model. The inability to access real-time navigation and traffic data while driving is a clear distraction and could contribute to unsafe driving conditions.

Driving south on I95 under normal condition. After driving for about a hour truck started smoking under the hood. I pulled over and turned off vehicle. I released the latch to open hood. When I got out of the vehicle to lift the hood there were flames coming from both sides of the hood. I did not lift the hood. I moved away from the vehicle and called 911. Police and fire department responded and extinguished the fire. Vehicle was a total loss. GM indicates they will not investigate the cause and I should work through my insurance company for compensation.

"Car is parked in the garage, about 50-60F overnight. One of the reasons why I traded it in to get a change. The Silverado was about about 130 miles away from home, based on a 60 temp, I am getting about 360 miles. I think I can definitely work with that. If I am truly getting 300 during the winter, I think I’ll be super happy. #10· May 25, 2025 Running winter tires will stop the rate about 10% and another 15 to 20% in the cold for sure. I am up here in Canada and the truck does great in the winter time period. Drive the truck 24 hours without turning it off at -39F -39 C blowing through 6 inches of snow for 450kms then 2 foot drifts for another 300 kms and for about 400kms per charge. The next 900 kms the roads were clear at those cold temperatures and did 565kms in a 100 to 10% charge. Still very reasonable. #11· May 25, 2025 Photo attached of the travel when the risers were clear and sunny out running 18 inches blizzack tires on my 4WT."
"Will the Silverado EV work for you? I'm seeing a lot of "Work the Silverado EV work for me?" posts, so I wanted to share my real world experience at just over 7,000 miles on my 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Trail Boss Max Range. My driving distance is 400+ miles (EPA rated first over 450), but the towing distance is dismal, about 160 miles from 100% to 0% towing my 8.5 x 24 car hauler. The cold weather hasn't really made much of a difference for me, this is what I got towing it this fall in warmer weather as well. If you're towing with an open trailer you'll probably get a bit more range, but I haven't verified that yet. This works for me, but I wanted everyone to know the REAL WORLD towing range, and that's about 0.6-0.7 mi/kWh at 65-70 MPH. It wasn't much different with my 2025 Silverado EV LT Extended Range (140 miles 100% to 0%) that was night back as a lemon. All that being said, I absolutely LOOOOVE the truck and would recommend it to ANYONE who needs a 400+ mile range EV or a towing rig that runs less than 120 miles a day. Best part? It cost me a penny less per mile to drive than a Prius when I charge at home (which is most of the time). 😂"

"Max Charge Rate Doesn't Mean Sh*t It's all about the curve. Recently in a Model 3 vs Ioniq 5 10-80% test, the Model 3 peaked twice as high at 250kW vs the Ioniq's 125kW, but the Ioniq still finished slightly faster. Why is that? Well, the Model 3 charge curve drops right away and the Ioniq (really all eGMP vehicles) hold steady for much longer. The same can be said the Cybertruck Charge curve vs the Silverado EV or even the F150 Lightnings measly 150kW peak, but very strong curve. On a road trip, what really matters is the **average** kW from 10-80% and the range that 10-80% gets you. 10-80% charge time can also be used. This is why the Porsche Taycan is the fastest road tripping EV, its charge curve **and** peak rate are insane.. So the next time you're comparing EVs and want to know how fast it charges, do not be fooled by the peak charge rate. It's more of a marketing scheme vs real world charging performance. 10-80% time is key along with range."
"UPDATE: My point here was really to show the worst case scenario for a towing use case for the Silverado EV with a Max Range pack. Obviously aerodynamics are the biggest contributor to range loss, and my car hauler is an 8.5 W x 7.5 T x 24.0 L rectangular box, which is pretty much the worst aerodynamics you can get."
