The 2023 Kia Niro Electric puts down 201 hp, 253 miles of EPA range and a 65 kWh battery, and a worth-pursuing score, but only after a hard inspection and a fair price.
Score read
A 68/100 makes this a records-first inspection. Battery-health score is the cleaner read at 79/100; range and efficiency score needs more diligence at 54/100. On Reddit, owners keep flagging the same two issues: software tech and owner satisfaction. A clean VIN lookup matters more than the headline count.
Price context
Used examples are running around $24,175. Treat that as a budgeting floor, not a final price; pull a current KBB Fair Purchase or Edmunds True Market Value for this exact trim before negotiating.

- $ Bargain hunter Best TCO, reliability + low depreciation
Gotchas
- Serviceable Recall paperwork has to match the exact VIN.
Mitigation Use NHTSA and the automaker lookup, then require repair records instead of a verbal promise.
- Built in Range is the easy place to overbuy this trim (54/100).
Mitigation Check your commute, winter margin, and fast-charge plan before you assume the EPA number fits your use.
Pre-purchase inspection
- 1 Run the exact VIN through NHTSA and the automaker recall lookup before discussing price.
- 2 Compare the dashboard range estimate with the EPA 253-mile rating after a full charge.
- 3 Confirm how much of the 10-year/100,000-mile battery warranty remains and whether it transfers.
- 4 If road trips matter, run a short DC fast-charge session and watch whether speed tapers normally.
- 5 Map your normal highway route and winter margin against the EPA range before you treat it as a road-trip car.

Source & disclaimer
Dealers make ~$7,551 on the average car loan.
After the price is set, the finance manager runs four plays to rebuild margin. Every buyer without a pre-approval is a target. Here's exactly what they run — and what stops each one.
78% of dealer loans carry a hidden +1.13% markup above what the lender actually charges. You never see it — it's buried in the contract. · CFPB
Dealer must match or beat your lender — they can't add margin invisibly. The markup play is dead on arrival.
Once you answer, they stretch the term to hit your number. Median result: $4K less off the price, 12 more months on the loan. · Industry avg
Financing is done. Only the sale price is on the table — and the dealer knows it.
Back-office F&I profit averages $1,975/vehicle, up 8.5% YoY. These products exist — but dealer markup is 4–10x what you'd pay elsewhere. · Dealership Guy
Dealer GAP runs $500–1K. Your insurer sells the same coverage for $100–250 over 5 years. Now you know.
"Your loan fell through — come re-sign." This pulls your APR up +5% on average. It's legal. It works because you've already driven the car home. · Ctr for Responsible Lending
A lender commitment letter means the deal is final. "Pending dealer approval" doesn't apply. You can't be yo-yo'd.
That's 23 months of your car payment — handed to the dealer's finance department for nothing.
Takes 2 minutes. No obligation to use it — but you'll walk in with all the leverage.
Pre-approval is a soft credit inquiry — no score impact. FICO treats all auto-loan hard pulls within 14 days as one, so you can still shop rates at the dealer.

Kia America, Inc. (Kia) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Niro EV, Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), and Hybrid vehicles. The floor wiring assembly beneath the front passenger seat may become damaged, which can prevent the front air bags and seat belts from deploying properly or cause an unintended side curtain air bag deployment.
Air bags and seat belts that deploy improperly or an air bag deploying unintentionally can increase the risk of injury in a crash.

My wife was in an accident on [XXX] around [XXX] at the intersection of [XXX]. She had exchanged safety information with the person whose vehicle had stalled. She went to shut off the car upon exchanging the information and after pressing the ignition button the vehicle began to roll. She was outside of the vehicle when she had pressed the ignition button. She tried physically to stop the vehicle, trippped and was dragged until the vehicle came to a stop after running over her leg and hitting a tree. The vehicle had recall items addressed on October 2 or 3rd. She was trying to stop the vehicle from rolling as she knew that school was letting out and a school bus would be coming on the road she was at. I contacted the dealer about it and they stated that they had never heard of this happening with there vehicles and to call customer service. The police officer verified verbally that the vehicle was in park when he checked on the condition of my wife who sustained serious injuries on her left leg and was hospitalized for surgery and wound treatment. This is the first time that we ever had an issue with the vehicle. It started when the vehicle in front of her had stalled and backed into her (although his story changed after the injury to my wife). I was driving when another vehicle hit my driver side tire area. Car was totaled but no airbags deployed. It is not available since it has been towed to the salvage yard. I have back pain, however we were fortunate not to have more injuries. It was inspected but not sure if they found anything wrong with the airbags.

I bought my Niro hybrid EX Touring new from the dealership in 2023. The first issue arose when the car shut off completely while driving and was towed to the dealership. Later, I started hearing a squeaking/rubber rubbing sound. The car would make squeaking and creaking noises when turning or going over minor bumps. The "rubber rubbing sound" happened when I was at a full stop, right after removing my foot from the brake, as the car began to move forward. These issues were both reported to the dealership, and they did an inspection. The dealership service center has been able to hear the sounds. Since then, the calliper boots have been replaced multiple times and the full calliper kit once. The strut bearing has also been replaced multiple times. Consistent issues with the car's braking system is a significant safety issue. I have no idea what damage the rest of my car could have sustained, and I have not been able to get an answer for why this is happening. I have also been in contact with the manufacturer.

I am filing a complaint regarding my 2023 Kia Niro and Safety Recall SC332. The recall involves a damaged floor wiring assembly that may prevent proper airbag and seat belt deployment, creating a serious safety risk. I scheduled and brought my vehicle to Cowboy Kia, Conroe on Feb 2,2026 specifically to have this recall repaired, but the dealership did not complete the recall service and returned the vehicle without fixing the issue or providing a clear explanation. This is a manufacturer-issued safety recall and should be addressed promptly at no cost. I am requesting immediate repair and an explanation for the failure to perform the recall work.

When attempting to activate the parking brake there is no response from the vehicle. No matter how many times in attempting to activate the parking brake it would not activate. The only way to successfully activate the parking brake was if "auto hold" was on and i turned off the vehicle. i have a safety concern regarding this matter as the vehicle could potentially roll away if the car is unattended. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by the service center as of yet but it will be inspected on 01/14/2026. There are no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.

I was driving my 2023 Kia Niro PHEV into my garage after running an errand, going very slowly. Suddenly the vehicle--all on its own--surged forward, slammed into the rear wall (triggering air bags), ricocheted backward across the street, and struck a neighbor's fence. I was able to get out of the car but I was in shock; paramedics were called. Ultimately, my injuries were found to be limited to bruised ribs, but it has been very painful and limiting. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop where it was pronounced a total loss. I received a settlement check from my insurance company, but I am out-of-pocket for the deductible, costs relating to getting a new vehicle, and of course the pain and suffering. I was told there was an event data recorder (EDR) on the vehicle, and my insurance adjuster will tell me what it reveals (I hope). There was no warning of any kind that this was about to happen. I was fortunate that it happened where it did; had I been driving the vehicle on the street, I could have killed someone (including myself).

On Oct 4, 2024, a driver rolled into my car on an incline. While waiting for the police, I looked inside my car and thought the engine was still on. (Flashers). I turned the power button and the car began to roll backwards. I jumped in and tried the break. Pedal went all the way to the floor and car rolled faster. Moved gear shift around and kept rolling faster and faster (incline). I had my left foot out of the car and right on the break. At one point, I was thrown out of the car and my left leg was run over. Car stopped when it hit a tree. Three weeks in hospital and rehab. Still haven’t been able to return to work.

While entering into a parking spot at minimal speed, the vehicle experienced an unexpected spontaneous acceleration, causing it to lunge forward, climb onto the curb, and collide with the adjacent building. This resulted mainly in damage to the front end and front passenger door, and the shattering of a large tempered glass window that cushioned the impact. Thankfully, there were no pedestrians on the sidewalk, and the impacted office space was unoccupied at the time of the incident. It is important to note that I was not utilizing the cruise control at the time of the spontaneous acceleration incident and that the vehicle had only been driven 1760 miles since it was purchased, further highlighting the totally unexpected nature of the occurrence. This alarming event of the car accelerating on its own, when it had come to an almost full stop, leads me to believe that the car could pose a significant safety risk. I am deeply troubled by the potential consequences of this spontaneous acceleration; no warning light or collision safety feature turned on. I consider that it is imperative for Kia to conduct a thorough investigation and retrieve the vehicle data to determine the root cause of the incident.

My dashboard screen has turned off completely 3 different times in the 14 months I have had the vehicle. It is normally off for several days at a time. When it is off, I have no access to my speed, gas, or any other controls shown on that display. When I run the KIa diagnostic tool, it tells me there is an issue with my airbags. Kia has a recall for this issue but refuses to apply the recall (software update) to my vehicle because it was manufactured 19 days before the recall period. I have photos and videos that I have shared with Kia Corporate every time it happens. Below is the reply from Kia Corporate "Dear [XXX], Thank you for your inquire. I had front collision that caused by having difficulty switching my foot from acceleration pedal (gas pedal) to brake pedal, my foot movement from gas pedal to brake pedal has been restricted by friction between my shoe and brake pedal that delayed my foot movement and caused the accident, Automatic emergency brake did not function too. Also air bags did not open at this front collision.

I backed out of my drive and began to go forward. Five times in my 2023 Kia Niro HEV within one block the dashboard began to flash red, beeping sounds were emitted, and then the brakes slammed rapidly bringing the car to a stop. My attempts to accelerate were futile until the car let me accelerate about 5 -10 seconds later.. There was absolutely nothing in front of me or to the sides of me or anything coming towards me. This was entirely phantom braking. In four of these phantom forward collision avoidance ( FCA) instances there was nothing in back of me. However, the fifth episode involved a car that was in back of me and nearly rear ended me with the sudden illogical stop caused by the phantom braking. I had the car towed to the dealership. The car dealer did not find any log of this happening and could not make it happen on demand. After three weeks of looking at it, they finally called their national tech line and decided a sensor need to be realigned. They took the fender off the car, did the realignment and declared the vehicle repaired.

I was in a very light two-car collision on 08-09-2023. Both cars had little to no damages, just very minute scratches that are very hard to see. But two of the airbags on my KIA Niro (front and knee) deployed suddenly, causing me to black out for a couple of minutes and later have a concussion, and the bottom airbag caused a bruise and consistent knee pain to this day. My car is at a Kia Service facility and has been for the past 3 weeks and we haven’t gotten any information from them as to what the problem was. I visited this facility to get some answers and I stated that I think this car has a problem with the airbags, a Kia employee responded with “do not tell that to your insurance”. I have called and called to get answers and they say they don’t know are are trying to figure out why the airbags deployed. Everyone I have spoken to (police officer and paramedics at time of collision, claim adjustor, third-party mechanic etc) all think it’s very strange that the airbags deployed. I have read that KIA currently has airbag recalls on some models and I’m suspecting that my car could also be affected by this. The car is at a Kia facility where it CAN be inspected.

The vehicle is a rental vehicle. It experienced two incidents of sudden loss of propulsion within the first two days of operation. During both events, the vehicle became completely unresponsive to accelerator pedal input and would not move despite being placed in Drive. I attempted to shift the vehicle into Park and then back into Drive, but propulsion was not restored. No warning lights, malfunction indicators, or system messages were displayed before or during the failure. The first incident occurred while exiting a car wash. The vehicle became immobilized in an active traffic lane and would not respond to throttle input, creating an immediate risk of rear-end collision. Vehicles were approaching from behind and I narrowly avoided being struck. The second incident occurred later the same day in a parking lot while the vehicle was charging. Again, the vehicle became unresponsive without warning and would not move. The intermittent and unpredictable loss of motive power presents a serious safety hazard because it prevents the driver from maintaining control and safely operating the vehicle in traffic conditions.

I did an OTA update that made the rear view camera work intermittently. It would just flash an image every couple of seconds instead of a live stream. I took it into the dealer, and on the way, it totally gave out in the middle of traffic in a very unsafe way. I was flashed with many warning signs and was not able to get it started again for 5min by just turning it on/off again. I finally got it to the dealer and after 6 weeks they told me that something spilled in the cup holders and fried the backup camera and drivetrain components. I find it extremely off the drivetrain and safety critical components are stored under a cup holder with no protection.

The contact owns a 2023 Kia Niro. The contact stated that the vehicle had been "Hacked" by a stalker. While driving, the vehicle was controlled by the hacker to randomly steer to the right. Additionally, the contact stated that the hacker caused several features on the instrument panel to become disabled. No additional information was available. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 45.

USB connectivity is intermittent. This involves using the USB A connection in the center console as a port for stored media (music files) on a USB drive and Android Auto. The connection will connect and disconnect randomly regardless of the car being stationary or moving. The intermittent connectivity occurs regardless for all USB cables or thumb drives that I have tried. The vehicle is available for inspection. This presents a safety hazard due to the loss of connectivity for Android Auto while driving and the resultant sudden increase in driver distraction that is generated. Multiple steps and layers of infotainment screen navigation can be required to get to a workaround for music or navigation. The problem has been explained to the dealer service center multiple times but they are unable to replicate it and are explained that they are unaware of the issue on other similar vehicles. Video recordings of the intermittent functioning have been shown to the dealer. Since they could not replicate it, they are unwilling to correct the issue. The issue was first noticed in October 2024 and initially explained to the dealer service in February 2025.

My car has clunking noises coming from the front left suspension, they occur more often and getting louder. After doing some research online, I found that the symptoms are similar to the NHTSA recall number 24V-057. Unfortunately, the NHTSA recall didn't include Niro plug-in hybrid manufactured in year 2023, only Niro EV. I took it to the service center nearby. They said it's the strut, so what they will do is to dismantle it and put more lubrication when I return again to perform a strut "maintenance". If there are still noises, then they will order a new replacement strut. However, from what I read online, it's actually the driveshaft that causes the problem, hence the recall 24V-057. Please investigate into Kia Niro 2023 plug-in hybrid vehicles having the same problems and issue new recall if possible. Thank you.

I am experiencing the same issues as the individual who documented incident #11685147. When I turn the shifter to drive and let my foot off the brake, with auto-hold on, the will still roll backwards, even on flat ground, and not respond to me pushing the gas pedal. I have to put the vehicle back into park, and try again. Oftentimes I have to shut the vehicle completely off to be able to get the vehicle to respond to me shifting it to drive and accelerating forward. This occurs multiple times, but I have dated the incident to be the approximate time when this issue started.

Driving VA Interstate 64. Traveling right side travel lane approximately 70 mph. Had ADAS engaged. Car entering highway, moved to center travel lane to pass. As I approached entering highway car, suddenly, my car stalled, engine off and I was stopped in center travel lane. Able to start car by putting transmission in park and pressing start button. Called KIA Car Care Center - They have no record of this type situation occurring throughout country. Took car to dealer. Their Technology Service Rep checked whole system and found no problems including memory bank listing the stall/stoppage incident. I will go to dealer and ask for their report. 2nd incident. Happened within first month or ownership 10/23. I dismissed incident as something I must have done due to my lack of familiarity with new technology.

On multiple occasions, the car has flashed an error on the dash stating there was a problem with the hybrid system. It immediately slows down without time to merge over causing extreme danger on a busy highway several cars swerved to miss the Kia because there was nothing I can do. this has happened several times and Kia is well aware as I’ve had multiple communications with them.

This May of been a cause of a defective Harness Assembly that has taken a few tries to get repaired (Harness is fixed but problem still continues randomly). Since then, my car has stalling problems, randomly, sometimes multiple time in one drive. I have no way to replicate it on my own just that it "can happen" anytime and has subjected me to waiting on the side of the road for the engine computer to "reset" or needs for a tow. Ive been in the dealership at least twice for this with a 3rd this week. Me and the dealer thought it may go away with the new harness installed but it still remains

Each time I don't drive for a few days and start driving again, the car jerks/jolts as it's shifting gears (both when I'm accelerating and decelerating). The sudden jolts is dangerous as I'm gauging cars ahead and behind me as I'm driving. But when I brought it up to the service department, they said they can't diagnose it if it isn't happening at the moment, but by the time I've driven to a dealership, my car is warmed up and not jolting anymore.

While driving on freeway, at a speed of 65-70MPH. Vehicle appeared to lose power. Navigation screen turned off, dash display dimmed and vehicle seemed to coast and not accelerate. Speed did drop down a bit, but then powered came back on, screen turned on and was able to accelerate again. No warning lights or error messages appeared on screen.

The air-conditioning compressor failed internally sending debris into the condenser. I have read Kia owners online forums and this is a known problem to Kia, but they have not issued a recall. Last year, I purchased a new 2023 Kia Niro Hybrid and had a 24-month lease contract on it. After 9 months (5,700 miles), my car started having problems (Forward Collision Warning, random loss of power steering). My car had to be towed twice to a KIA dealership, where I was told nothing was wrong with my car. They finally agreed to run a scan on the electric syste, where they found a few communication issues. After doing a system update, KIA told me the problems were fixed, however, the car kept having the same problems plus a new one (random Automatic Emergency Braking). At this point, the car was too unreliable to drive so I returned it to my KIA dealership. Although the car clearly had problems that Kia couldn’t fix, I had to pay to get out of my lease and ended up buying another car, not a KIA. I am reporting the issues with the 2023 KIA Niro Hybrid to make sure people are aware of the issues on this particular car in case it is put on the pre owned market. I believe we’ve been very lucky not to get into an accident, my [XXX] drove it in the city and on the highway and I can't imagine what would have happened if the Automatic Emergency Braking would have gone off then. The contact leased a 2023 Kia Niro EV. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to charge as designed. The message "Charge Interrupted" was displayed on the mobile app that monitored the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the cause of the failure could not be determined; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 6,000.

The vehicle is usually charged on a level 2 system set to 40 amps or 9 KW/hr. In October of 2023, I received the following message from the Kia connect application, "Charge Interrupted". The car disconnected electrically from the wall unit/charger because the connector unit in the car where the cable plugs into or internal charging unit was getting hot. This "charging interrupted" is a known issue with Kia and Hyundai electric cars so much so that they have issued a Technical Service Bulletin SB, ELE288 which reprograms the car charging logic for level 2 charging. The TSB dramatically slows down the charge rate (from 9 KW/hr to 5 KW/hr when the connector or charging unit gets hot through normal charging. The net effect of this TSB, work around has doubled the time required to charge at the level 2 rate indicated in the owners manual (Page 1-17). Kia needs to address this problems via a hardware fix rather than covering it with a software work-around which doubles level 2 charging times by reducing the charging rate. I bought this electric car under the impression from the manufacture that it could charge to its battery 0-80% in 6-7 hours. The new reality of the TSB fix for overheated charging components is a 12 plus hour recharge to 80%. The TSB fix for overheating components is reducing the value and the utility of my new car. Please investigate this issue as it also shows up in the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ionic 5 and 6, as all cars are probably using the same connector design or sharing parts.

The car has an issue where the Apple CarPlay system randomly disconnects. I have brought this to the dealership multiple times and they have not been able to fix it. This is a safety hazard because each time the system disconnects and then reconnects, the driver needs to restart the apps that are running at the time which causes a distraction while driving. I have recorded this and also researched this online and it appears to be a very common issue with the Kia systems. In the recording you can see that there is one time where while resetting the system, I had a near crash because the car in front of me stopped unexpectedly. The dealership has already replaced the USB port and the car's head unit and the problem persists. The problem is also repeated with multiple phones (one that is brand new) and multiple Apple manufactured cables.

I was 3 1/2 weeks into a four year lease driving this brand new car and it stopped completely in the middle of the road flashing a HYBRID SYSTEM FAILURE warning. I nearly died. It would not move nor turn off. Had to be in the shop for 2 weeks. I don’t feel safe in this car and I want out of this lease asap. Kia is not willing to work with me on this

The contact owns a 2023 Kia Niro. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle suddenly lost significant motive power and was unable to accelerate above 43 MPH. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle briefly returned to normal functionality, but the failure reoccurred. The EPS, stability control, impending collision, Lane Keep Assist, engine oil pressure, check engine, and catch-all warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who confirmed the warning lights were illuminated but was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 600.

The car continues to not be able to charge at home. My other electric car (different manufacturer polestar) with the same cord charges without issues. The cord only allows 27amps and the car abruptly stops charging over and over. I have to reset it constantly. This continues to be an issue and the car shows no problems with the battery and there is no fix from Kia.

Forward Collision System: When stopped or at low speeds, the vehicle’s forward collision warning will activate for short intervals (roughly 1-2 seconds) randomly. Hybrid Battery: The vehicle won’t go below 50% battery on the hybrid battery and the engine unnecessarily turns on to charge back to 90% when hitting 50% rather the exercising a wider range on the battery such as 20-80%

Charge Interruptions session. The Kia Niro EV interrupt charging on a Level 2 50amp ChargePoint Home Flex charge. I contact the Charger company ChargePoint and reduce the power to 40 amps. The car charging improve slightly but continue interruption. The on board CSS J1772 port of the car overheat and stop charging. Same issue that the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, Kia EV6, and Genesis EV.

1st noticed when parking car, beeping from control panel as if touchscreen buttons were being pressed when they were not. Day or 2 later, AC and/or heat started coming on randomly, would not turn off, all touchscreen buttons illuminating as if pressed. Dealership found crack in screen. No knowledge or memory of any impact to cause damage. Dealership refused warranty coverage. Controls unusable and screen is glass, so there is now broken glass all around controls. Crack spread and expanded during normal driving conditions over next week. Control panel affects multiple other screens that should display information needed while driving. Problem mostly stopped after crack expanded more after I hit a pothole. Started again recently. Glass is badly cracked and has gotten worse with temperature changes that should be expected when a car is parked in the sun, and due to vibrations while driving. Control panel now entirely unresponsive. This panel is far too fragile to be in a car. There was no accident or incident prior to the initial problem. It seemed to happen spontaneously.

The components and systems failing are the brakes, adaptive cruise control, smart stop n go cruise control and electrical. Yes it is available for inspection upon request. The auto cruise control doesn’t give a safe distance to stop at (u r close enough to not see there tires) from the car in front of u in case someone hits u from behind. It also doesn’t stop at the same distance it’s set at for the speed distance option. The car also doesn’t emergency brake itself when getting super close to the car in front of u. It only gives u warning sounds n shows that on the dash. I’ve already learned that with my young daughter in the backseat. No not reproduced by dealership Yes looked at by dealership Yes warning sounds n an alert on the dash but no action from the car. My car is brand new!!! Auto cruise control works great when the car is moving, but when utilizing “stop and go”, the car stops way less than 1/2 a car length from the car in front. A dangerous distance anywhere in my opinion. Changing the following distance does not change this stopping distance behavior. The dealership/s have been no help with most of the techs describing the stop and go feature as not stopping (Its the older models that have had this type of ACC, where the driver has to stop the car) So if they can’t understand the issue, there is no way to get them to correct the issue. I have found other drivers with similar issues so I know I’m not the only one. But I am the only one taking to time to say and do something about this huge safety problem for a brand new car.

I was driving when I heard a very loud pop noise from above me. I looked up and noticed that the sunroof glass was broken with a hole on one side. I checked behind me and in the car but nothing had hit the glass. The sunroof had broken on its own for no reason. I have contacted the dealership but they told me to file a claim with insurance. I have put a claim in with my insurance company and am still waiting for their response. I took pictures of the sunroof and there were no warning lights or any indication that the glass was going to break.

The dash is textured. In direct sunlight, the texture reflects on the windshield and makes it difficult to see. The other day I came close to hitting a pedestrian because I didn’t them. It is so dangerous!

While slowing down (without bringing it to a full stop) to make a left turn, car dies, losses all propulsion power just coasts. First it happened intermittently than more often. First it happened in low speed later even with highway speed. After bringing it to a park position and restarting car it will run fine until another incident.

There have been days where the weather starts out to be low to no rain or snow and then while driving from Kenosha, WI to Milwaukee, WI the rain or snow gets heavier or mild and the smart cruise control will stop and say radar blocked and it will disable the use of it and disable regenitive braking as well. So if you are driving doing 70+ the speed limit on the interstate all of a sudden it will terminate without any warning and now all of a sudden the car behind you is in your truck space so you have to excellerate extremely to avoid getting hit. THis is a extreme safety hazard.

I have had the car since May 2023 and every winter moisture builds up on my windows on the inside of the car and over night it gets frozen from the inside. There is mold growing on the inside of the door panels, the back hatch window and under the seat and on the seat belts.

I pulled the vehicle out of my garage yesterday and drove it out and turned it around and put it in reverse to park it on a very slight incline on my driveway close to the garage to clean it, put it in park, and shut if off. I spent a couple hours vacuuming and cleaning it. I then went to turn it on to back it into my garage for the night and it lurched backwards in an alarming scary way - I rolled my passenger window down and asked my husband who was right there if there was something in the way that I had just tried to run over with my car. He assured me there was nothing in the way so I put the car in drive and tried to go forward and it did the same thing. It was like I was trying to go over a log or something. (My husband said the same thing had happened to him when he also had it parked on the slight incline and he said to shut it off and try again). I then shut it off, put it in drive and as soon as I took my foot off the brake it flew forward without me ever touching the gas peddle. I slammed on the brakes and it stopped. It was like the cruise control was set to 60mph and it was accelerating without me in control. I tried another time to get it to operate correctly and the next time the rear wheels locked and it flew forward with the wheels locked, leaving a skid mark on my driveway. My husband then took over trying to figure it out and had the same things happen to him. We left it parked outside in our yard and called Kia. It was towed to Berlin City Kia in Williston VT today. This was all recorded on my ring camera. It also did it when the tow truck driver came. He said "I've been doing this for 23 years and I've never had an experience like this".

"‘23 EX Touring. 18k miles and 36months old April 1st. I get better than advertised mpg, both city/Hwy. Not one single problem/issue. 4 KIA dealer oil changes. Rotate & Balance the tyres every 6 months. I’ve changed both the cabin & engine air filters 3 times myself(super easy/takes minutes). I did swap the factory DIM yellow Sylvania headlights with bright white Sylvania 9005 SilverStar ULTRA Halogen Headlight Bulb, 2 Pack. SX model should be LEDs, better sound system and electric trunk. YMMV 😉"
"I’m at about 53k miles and have loved my car. The stop/go cruise control works so well and the user interface is one of my favorite features of the car. 10/10 would recommend to anyone…. I believe there was a recall in the past but I don’t remember for what… was pretty seamless tho getting it back up and running with Kia South San Francisco CA"
"Curious if anyone had any additional info on the Android Auto/Apple Car play connection improvements? "I have wasted so much time troubleshooting a noise coming from front passenger door. spent multiple weeks ripping out the seat, corner dash, door panels, headliner trim, and inserts. In the process I have learned a lot about the door assembly . Problem found; it was the coins inside the organizer i had placed inside armrest. I found the source when I road as a passenger when the noise transferred to driver side front door. amazing how the noise can travel. word of advice, if you hear noise/rattling, remove everything that didn't come with the car when you purchased new I was blaming the build quality but my ear was playing tricks. #1· Jul 29, 2020"
"Bought a 2023 Kia Niro with 150 miles then it died 5 min after. Dealer won't let me return Looking for any advice. I bought a 2023 used kiro niro EV with 150 miles on it from a private used car dealer. They said someone had returned it because the financing fell through and that there were zero issues with the car. We bought it and drove off the lot only to have it die with a half full battery after just 5 min of driving. Attached image of what came on the screen. I took it to a Kia service center and they said the vin showed that the previous owner brought it in for a battery issue after 5 miles of driving. Now kia is telling me it could be up to 6 months for them to repair and I could be responsible for the cost- even though I have an 8 year warranty the battery may not be covered- My contract with the used dealer was As Is with no warranty. What the hell should I do lol"
"2 Months at the dealership and they say its a Rodent problem I love the Kia Niro, I love the design and the aesthetic, I loved the way kia put every little thing on it and how far they are pushig the limits that the car could bring. I have no complaints about how the car drives and how it handles. Just this one situation as my title explains has now made me paranoid. I need help please, and I pray you don't experience this situation I am in now. So I purchased my Niro 2023 EX in October. It has been my daily driver for work and errands (I really enjoyed this car). I live in California. After about a month and a hundred of miles later, me and my friends decide to take it to Vegas as a fun weekend trip. On the last day of our trip as we were exiting the parking of our hotel, all of the system lights came on and the car started to slow. We put it aside in park, restarted the car, and after a minute or so it drove fine. The rest of the trip home had no issues. We thought it was a fluke or just some system bug. The next few days it drove fine, until probably the 4th day of returnng from our trip my car's dash lit up like a Christmas tree again, and again started to slow down until I couldn't move any more. Luckily I was in a residencial area leaving my house for work and was able to put it in park, restart the car, and it would drive normally again. On my way home from work I didn't experience it again. This happened every other day as I tried to troubleshoot what could be going on. I checked everything and researched everythng with no results. I tried forcefully recreating the issue and found that when I made sharp turns it would induce the system lights flashing. On the 5th time I had the lights I decided to take it back to the dealership. When I took it in they said they will take a look into it, but if it was something that was not under warranty I would have to pa out of pocket. This is where the fun begins... - Over the next few days, thanks to the Kia Access app, I saw the dealership work on my car. They would drive it 5 miles or so. - After a week I tried following up with them and they said that they could not find the issue and are looking at the error codes. - 1 week later they call stating that they "might have found the issue to be a loose wire harness and should fix the issue the next day and we'll call you." I never got the call. - I follow up, this time harder to get in touch with them, and they said "there's still some codes and are working on it." - A few days later they call and leave me a voice message stating they still haven't found the issue and are working on it. - Another few days later and after I spoke with the manager, I get a voice message from the dealership telling me that the car was now ready for pick up. Only 30 mins later to get a voicemail from the dealership "Sorry, don't pick it up there's still an issue." At this point I'm frustrated being without my car and being left in the dark. So after about a"
"Kia Niro 2017 - Infotainment System Update Questions (Manual wired) I'm looking to update my infotainment system. Main reason is since updating my iOS on my iphone, the apple CarPlay is grayed out and won't work. And I've never updated the infotainment software, which is likely the issue. I downloaded the Navigation Updater software and proceeded to choose the 2017 Niro in order to download the update into a USB drive to do a manual, wired update. It specifies that a USB drive MORE than 32GB is required. I put one it that was 128GB. Error comes up: it says the 128GB is too big. So, I ordered a new 64GB drive (which is effectively 62GB avail space). The download is 43GB. So, should be fine, right? Wrong, apparently the laws of math and physics to not apply to KIA. The error keeps saying the drive is too big for it to be formatted to FAT32. There are no drives in existence that are less than 64GB and larger than 43GB. Seems like a glitch in their system. Has anyone else had this issue? Any solves for this? From the Kia Navigation Updater Website - Specifically says to get a 64GB USB drive:"
