Buyer brief · 252 words

The 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 Pro puts down 201 hp, 260 miles of EPA range and a 77 kWh battery, and 11 recalls on this make/year mean the seller has to show completed paperwork on the exact VIN.

Score read

A 58/100 makes this a high-risk buy. The useful split is software and driver-assist score at 68/100 versus range and efficiency score at 45/100. On Reddit, owners keep flagging the same two issues: owner satisfaction and software tech. If the seller cannot show recall completion, price that risk or move on.

Is it a good deal?

Bargain Priced well below class for the quality on offer

Used examples are running around $17,191 against a $41,190 original sticker, about 42% of new. A reasonable spot for the score, but condition matters more than the headline number; verify recall completion, battery health, and service history.

Who this is for

✓ Good for

  • Daily commuter ≤50 mi/day, predictable charging

✗ Avoid if you are a

No persona-level disqualifiers — fits broadly.

Gotchas

  • Serviceable Recall paperwork has to match the exact VIN.

Mitigation Use NHTSA and the automaker lookup, then require repair records instead of a verbal promise.

  • Built in Range is the easy place to overbuy this trim (45/100).

Mitigation Check your commute, winter margin, and fast-charge plan before you assume the EPA number fits your use.

Pre-purchase inspection

  • 1 Run the exact VIN through NHTSA and the automaker recall lookup before discussing price.
  • 2 Compare the dashboard range estimate with the EPA 260-mile rating after a full charge.
  • 3 Confirm how much of the 8-year/100,000-mile battery warranty remains and whether it transfers.
  • 4 If road trips matter, run a short DC fast-charge session and watch whether speed tapers normally.
  • 5 Map your normal highway route and winter margin against the EPA range before you treat it as a road-trip car.

The Financing Room · What Actually Happens

Dealers make ~$6,638 on the average car loan.

After the price is set, the finance manager runs four plays to rebuild margin. Every buyer without a pre-approval is a target. Here's exactly what they run — and what stops each one.

My 2021 ID.4 has experienced two separate incidents of sudden, unintended forward acceleration while parking. In both cases, I was maneuvering at very low speeds (less than 5 mph) and transitioning from a stopped position, or from reverse into drive, with the intention to move forward only a few inches. But instead of creeping forward as normal, the vehicle suddenly jerked forward approximately one foot. In the first of two incidents (approx. October 2025), it crashed into the car in front of me. In a second incident (3/14/2026), it crashed into an EV charging station. This is a safety concern and may be related to steering wheel capacitive touch controls, possible unintended activation of adaptive cruise control (ACC) or “resume” function, or erroneous or overly sensitive input from the steering wheel control module. No warning signs or messages appeared prior to the failure. Luckily, no one, including my young children, stood directly in front of the vehicle during either of the incidents; otherwise, they may have incurred serious bodily injury or worse. I was also luckily unharmed in both incidents. I am immediately taking the car to the dealership for a full inspection.

Driver's side door cannot be opened from outside. Exterior handle pulls but produces only clicking sounds inside the door—latch does not release. Interior handle requires multiple pulls to open the door. Emergency release handle (pulling exterior handle fully upward) also fails to open the door. This vehicle has had both door handle recalls (23V-706 and 24V-329) performed by an authorized VW dealership. The problem has occurred intermittently since purchasing the vehicle over a year ago but is now persistent/permanent. This is a safety defect—the driver cannot exit normally in an emergency, and the vehicle cannot be accessed from outside through the driver's door by any means including the emergency release.

I was driving my 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 Pro S on March 12, 2025, in Baltimore, Maryland, when I was involved in a motor vehicle accident. Although I maintained an adequate stopping distance from the truck in front of me, my forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assistance systems suddenly activated, causing my vehicle to make contact with the truck. My safety—and the safety of others—was compromised. My vehicle sustained front-end damage. This was not the first time these systems engaged without cause. I took my vehicle to Heritage Volkswagen Parkville (located in Carney, Maryland) due to unresolved recalls and these irregular system behaviors. The dealership claims that Volkswagen requires me to replace the tires, align the wheels, and install a new 12V battery before completing the recall work or troubleshooting the issue. I informed the service manager that the vehicle is unsafe to drive and that, under federal law, the dealership is obligated to complete the recall. He responded that the recall work cannot proceed until the tire replacement, alignment, and battery installation are completed. As of June 23, 2025, my vehicle remains at the dealership. I have unsuccessfully attempted to reach VW’s Customer CARE department. The vehicle is not safe. I believe VW is at fault.

I was slowly driving down a lane in a parking lot. The parking spaces were perpendicular to a wall. I start to turn the steering wheel and slowly tap my brakes since the car was already going at a slow speed. All of a sudden, the car lunges forward and crashes into the wall beyond the parking slot. The airbags blow up and, after impact, my mom who is in the passenger seat complaints about severe chest pain. Soon the ambulance is there to take my mom to the hospital (she is eventually diagnosed with two broken ribs and a fractured cervical bone). I stay at the scene to talk to the police about what happened (the police gathered information from bystanders and took many pictures). I am in shock about the incident and trying to figure out what happened. I research the topic on the Internet and find out that there are others who have complained about sudden and unexpected acceleration in this car model. In fact, there is a class action lawsuit which explains that the overly sensitive cruise control (haptic, touch sensitive control on the steering wheel) can be accidently triggered and cause the sudden acceleration. Thank you for looking into this safety problem.

The contact owns a 2021 Volkswagen ID.4. The contact stated while starting the vehicle and exiting his driveway, the "All Wheel Drive Function Disabled", "Electrical System Failure", "Rear Assist Failure" and other unknown messages were displayed. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated to respond while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact also stated that the vehicle was slow to get up to speed while driving on a flat road surface. Additionally, the contact stated while driving at night, the exterior lights failed to illuminate as needed. The contact veered to the side of the road, turned off, and restarted the vehicle several times; however, the exterior lights failed to operate. The contact activated the hazard light and was able to drive to his destination. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed but no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was then taken to a second dealer, Volkswagen of Smithtown (530 Jericho Turnpike, St James, NY 11780) where it was diagnosed that the Body Control Module (BCM) had failed and needed to be reprogrammed along with the vehicle key fob. The dealer completed the repair; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated while attempting to drive from a complete stop uphill, the vehicle failed to respond and started rolling backwards. The same warning messages were displayed. The contact parked and turned off the vehicle. The contact restarted the vehicle after an hour and 25 minutes and was able to continue driving. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 12,500.

While driving the vehicle, error messages were displayed in the digital cluster indicating, among others, "electrical system not working, Safely stop vehicle", "I2V battery error", "Issue with all-wheel drive system", "Front/Travel Assist not working". In less than 10 seconds, the vehicle came to an unintended complete stop right as I was completing a left turn (to get the vehicle to the curb of the street) to park the car. A car was behind me and had to maneuver around me to proceed on its way. My daughter (in a child car seat in the back) and I were the only occupants and were at risk of a car collision because the car stopped moving in the middle of the road. I have now taken the car to a dealership for inspection. At the dealership, one of the representatives commented that this is not the first time they have seen this issue with this vehicle. I was less than a mile from my home when this happened. After 30 seconds of not responding, the car started operating normally as if nothing happened but still showed "electrical system not working, please service". I drove the car home. After about 30 or so minutes, I restarted the car and it operated fine and did not show any error messages. I have not been able to reproduce this issue but I have not driven it far (other than dropping it off at the dealership) due to fear of my safety.

1. I picked up new ID.4 from the dealer on 10/01/2021. On 10/02/22, Electrical System Malfunction messages appeared on the infotainment, telling me to take it in for immediate repairs. The problem was taken care of. I was not told what was wrong. 2. On 11/10/2021, while pulling into a parking space in a lot at a cemetery, the car bolted forward and became unresponsive. I could not stop it, I could not steer it. It felt like it was driving itself. I destroyed a bench, some bushes, and some of the turf. The car had to be towed to a VW dealer affiliated collision center. The car was there for over two months and was returned to the dealership for "further diagnosis". In the end, I was told that it had been "driver error", and I was assured the car was 100% safe to drive. I was never told what was done. The insurance payment for the damage was over $9000. 3. On 06/02/2022, I had the same acceleration issue. This time I was pulling over to a curb in a residential neighborhood (25 mph speed limit). I was using mode "B", regenerative braking. My foot was not on the accelerator. The car bolted forward and hit a parked Ford F150 in the backend. The force was so great, that the F150's rear end was lifted off the ground. You would think that crash would have stopped the ID.4. Instead, the vehicle swerved to the left, shot across the street and ended on a stranger's front yard, destroying his tree and landscaping. The car suddenly stopped, stuck in the landscape rocks. The vehicle then just shut itself off and became totally unresponsive. My wife was slightly injured, even though she had her seatbelt on. She could not open the door to get out and climbed out the driver's door. The car was towed to the dealer, insurance claim was filed. Preliminary estimates of damage- ID.4, F150, landscaping is over $17,000. My wife is petrified about riding in the car. I want VW to repurchase or terminate my lease. The car has only 6000 miles!

The vehicle has been in to the dealer multiple times for electrical system failures. The car is not safe to drive and has stalled multiple times while driving. The system has errors that light up stating there is an electrical system failure. The car has stopped driving in the middle of a trip, I have been stuck with my family multiple times while on short trips and long trips. The vehicle has been repaired multiple times for the same issue and it just came back again after several months being repaired. Each time the repairs occur, I end up renting a car and the time it sits at the dealer or repair shop has varied from 45 days to several days. This car needs to go. The issue first occurred a little over a year ago and has happened 3-7 times since and at random times. The issue has been reproduced by the dealer and reported to VW HQ.

The center display and the instrument panel on our ID4 reset unexpectedly while driving, even though recall with Campaing ID 24V344000 was performed on our vehicle. This caused both displays to turn off, first the instrument panel followed by the center display - we pulled over as we did not have any information of any kind of the status of the car. After a couple of minutes, it came back up again - restarted. We reported to our local VW dealer, who told us that there is no recall campaigns needing VIN-specific checks.

My Id 4 Pro S has this problem more going back almost 3 years with 8k miles when first reported to the dealership and [XXX] [XXX], [XXX],[XXX]. The correspondences are there as proof. Dealership never fixed this issue or diagnoses this properly since it only happens in wet weather or rainy mist or rain. The issues is the front tires in the front wheel wells make a thumping sound when backing up and moving forward with the wheels turned in any direction and a crunching sound with the car shaking. I am concerned for my safety and VW will not fix the issue. They had it twice in servicing, did not wet the underside to create the wet symptoms so they dismissed the issue. It does not rain much here and I presumed all the over the air updates and 2 day mega update leaving my vehicle would resolve the issue only to find out now with the new rain the problem is still there. This is a manufacturer defect and was reported when my vehicle was under full warranty. Now they are giving me excuses and wont address the problem or diagnose this properly and want to charge me for there manufacturers defect. I only have 22,675 miles on the vehicle now and it is garaged all the time so this is not from wear and tear since it occurred at 8000 miles and was reported twice before. I have multiple case numbers on this and VW will not take responsibility to fix this defect, and malfunction. They had stone walled me and passed this off as no issue. The vehicle then crashed into the back of another vehicle that was either stopped or was moving extremely slow. The contact’s husband sustained back, and neck injuries but had not sought medical intention. The insurance company informed the contact the that the other driver had since sought medical attention. A Police report was filed but was not available. The other vehicle was driven from the scene; however, the contact’s vehicle was towed to a tow lot where it was deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.

After replacing rear tire on this vehicle, (due to a flat tire). The traction control system malfunctions. The TCS turns on, on the slightest of turns, when the TCS turns on it reduces power the wheels. So therefore while driving and turning the TCS will reduce power, causing vehicle to slow in turns. Possible setting up driver for a rear end collision. This has happened to me directly, filed complaints with the manufacturer had vehicle there, told to replace all four. Did that and issue was reduced however not resolved.

"Error: Airbag" periodically comes on, goes off at random times. Seems to be an issue with the Passenger Occupancy Detection System Module. Nothing spilled to make this module not work properly. With this error on, it turns off the airbag for the passenger. This has been confirmed by the dealer. This error appeared without warning or incident at ~45K miles on the car.

I tried to brake but was pushed by airbag from brake pedal. I was wearing a seat belt but suffered an burn from the airbag on right inner forearm that was impression of VW logo and has resulted in lasting scar, I had modest right wrist sprain and right shin contusion, abrasion. The interior driver side rear passenger door (left behind the driver) and window won't open. This appears to only affect the driver side passenger rear door. The inside passenger side rear (right side of the car) door handle works. Also, the exterior door handle for the driver side rear door opens the door so it's only the interior handle that doesn't work. This is dangerous because there's no way to open that door if you're sitting inside. I tried to open the window and the button also doesn't seem to work. This happens when the car is off or on at any speed or stopped.

I believe Volkswagen has made a recent software change which causes the brakes to malfunction when operating in the rain. The problem began after I had a software update performed by the dealer in January 2025 and manifests itself when slowing down and approaching the last mile or two per hour when stopping, and suddenly the brakes slam on causing the car to come to a jarring stop. This is specifically tied to when it is either raining or the roads are wet. I have taken this to the maintenance department of my local VW dealer and their response has been that the car is "Operating as Volkswagen has designed it to." This is a recent change as I am the only owner of this car and have owned it for 4 years and have driven 60,000 miles without these symptoms. I also spoke with Volkswagen North America. They were sympathetic, but told me that it was a dealer issue.

While stopped at a red light waiting to turn left, with foot on the brake, my car suddenly accelerated and lunged forward, plowing into the car in front of me with great force. I had to jam down the brake almost to the floor to get the car to stop. My foot was on the brake. There is no way I hit the accelerator. Even if I had, the AEB system is supposed to prevent me crashing at close range. I understand that this is a known issue related to the adaptive cruise control. The force of my car was so great that 3 cars in front of me sustained damage.

1. Electronic brake system failure - the vehicle exhibited this issue and so far it appears Volkswagen does not have a resolution. Vehicle has been at the dealership for almost 2 months and they have not been able to fix. Several other reports show that this is a consistent issue with the ID4 (probably the first edition). Fixed are often temporary and the issues resurfaces again 2. Battery Module issue: it appears these vehicles have defective batteries. One module was fixed by Volkswagen - however the capacity only dropped further. I suspect there is a major issue with these batteries and pose a fire hazard (similar to Chevy Bolt) and Volkswagen is intentionally concealing this fact.

After installing the latest over-the-air software update few days ago, our car began exhibiting a serious braking issue. When coming to a stop, the brakes lock while the vehicle is still in motion, causing a sudden and dramatic jerk forward. Over the past month, the car has provided warnings when driving: 1. Front assist has limited availability, 2. ACC unavailable, and 3. Emergency assist is currently not available. Note: the ACC was not engaged when these messages appeared. On October 1 I was driving on a highway at about 65 MPH with adaptive cruise control engaged. The weather was clear. Suddenly the ACC disengaged and the car began to slow. I re-accelerated the car by pushing the accelerator and continued my trip without ACC. No accident occurred but I was surprised when the car began to slow without warning on a major highway at high speed. When it was safe to do so, I pulled over into the breakdown lane to read the messages. The two messages displayed were Front assist has limited availability and Emergency assist currently not available. The picture on the front of the dashboard also indicated that ACC was not available. Over the next few days while driving locally (without ACC engaged), these three messages would periodically appear on the dashboard. I brought the car into a local VW dealer (Wellesley Volkswagen) to have it looked at by the service department. They indicated on the invoice from the visit that they "performed road test. RAND GFF and performed soft configuration of the 5F, front sensor and cluster. Reset all codes with success." The invoice also listed "Concern: 919A vehicle software open. Correction Not available at this time - customer will get notice via mail". I was told by the VW Wellesley representative when I picked up the car that these error messages will likely re-appear until I get the 919A software update, which is not available. These error messages did re-appear yesterday, October 12, while driving locally without ACC engaged. As a side note, I received a recall 919A in the mail from Volkswagen in July 2024 (more than 3 months ago) telling me that a recall repair is not available.

The two noted recall campaigns needing VIN-specific checks on my 2021 ID.4 have no fix. There has already been one battery cell replaced and another has gone bad. The vehicles lease ends in two weeks and the dealer, understandably, cannot take it as a trade for another vehicle, sell it to us, or resell it as it will sit on the lot until it is picked up by Volkswagen and totaled out due to it being unsellable. However, Volkswagen has no remedy for the vehicle issues, we are now losing out on any sort of trade in value, and are expected to pay the mileage over the lease agreement for a car that will be scrapped once returned. The dealer can only do so much, but Volkswagen not stepping in to acknowledge the vehicle at this point is a lemon and they do not know how to fix it or others, but expecting us to pay "depreciation" and other fees for a totaled vehicle, totaled due to their issues, is unacceptable. It's one thing for defects, another to not be able to fix them and them dump the cost to the consumer. This vehicle has been a financial burden and for the last few months has been a safety concern, and the final result is we as the consumer have to pay the price for it. Fix your design flaws, take responsibility, or don't sell consumers defective products with no support/solutions and dump costs on them. The fact one recall campaigns needing VIN-specific checks means the vehicle could lose all electronics (an electric car) and have no insight into vehicle controls while driving, but we have to pay for the defect upon return is ridiculous. Lemon law will be coming into play here as no solution to the issue or remedy for the costs incurred. Being that this could have caused an accident or otherwise harmed my family or others and again the cost is dumped on us is ridiculous. If the engineers in Germany cannot fix the vehicle and have no solution, take it off the roads and find us a solution, at your cost not ours.

I leased a car three years ago. This ID4 on May 15,2023 left me at a full stop in the middle of the highway. I then dropped it off to the dealer where they inspected it and saw it was a sensor/software issue, I think. They never actually disclosed the problem, nor held accountability. They insured me after almost two weeks of having to pay gas for a loaner car that they had fixed it and it was safe. After that incident and before my car had been in service countless times, all very inconvenient but not immediate safety issues, until the door handles. The door handles have been recalled twice before this last incident. My car was in there for over two weeks again back and forth. They broke my actual handles and had to go back in again, they claimed they were fixed. Now, almost 6monthankater I go to buy this lemon pre certified through the dealer and they tell me they can’t because it has two recall campaigns needing VIN-specific checks. They failed to say that the recall campaigns needing VIN-specific checks have been since May and are only now informing id4 owners that their doors may unlatch any any moment while driving and kill your babies and someone else’s on the road. Yet, they want me to either extend my lease, turn in the car and pay over mileage (even though I thought I was leasing to buy) or buy out the car not certified through a third party with two recall campaigns needing VIN-specific checks. I am being bullied into keeping a lemon. This car is a lemon and I want Volkswagen to take it off my hands waiving any over mileage and either giving me a new id4 that is safe or my 21,000 dollars I have paid into it. I am not the only one legally bound to these lemons. I demand a resolution for my consumer rights. I will speak to every news station out there until I seek justice for me and so many others.

On multiple occasions this vehicle has failed to operate, a red hazard light goes on along with many other failure light indicators. I've been stranded where the car does nothing and also experienced the car dying while driving. When the vehicle comes to the airbag indicators come on warning that the airbags are not functioning. I have had to drive the vehicle this way. It's not the first time this car has had some type of electrical problems. It previously had an above lighting issue that had to be repaired. It's currently at Volkswagen of Leesburg in Florida, they are trying to figure out what is wrong with this car because they have not seen this type of failure before. It's been there for a week now. After getting stranded, vehicle failures, and electrical failures, I no longer feel safe in this vehicle. Im afraid this vehicle could have an electrical problem or fail while driving leaving me vulnerable to incoming traffic.

I had backed in to a parking space in a parking lot. To exit, I shifted the car into Drive, gently touched the accelerator (which should have accelerated the car to 2 MPH) and turned the steering wheel about 90° clockwise with my left hand to straighten the wheels. In doing so, the base of my left thumb inadvertently pushed the Set button on the cruise control, causing it to set to 15 MPH, its minimum setting, and the car to rapidly accelerate. I jammed on the breaks but wasn’t able to stop in time to avoid colliding into the side of a passing car. Because my right knee was locked in my effort to stop my car, the force of the impact was transferred to my hip and, though nothing was broken, I ended up spending two days in the observation unit of my hospital followed by eight days in residential rehabilitation. At the time, I had no idea what had caused the car to suddenly accelerate, seemingly without any input and certainly without my intent. It wasn’t until several months later that a similar acceleration event occurred, fortunately not resulting in an accident, and I was able to determine the cause. This problem is not the result of defective parts but of design. I believe the cruise Set button should not be located so close to the steering wheel rim and should not be raised as it is, but the safety issue could also be resolved in software by not allowing the cruise control to engage at very low speeds.

I have had two episodes in which the Lane Keeping Assistance put me at risk of running into a barrier on the freeway. Both happened when traveling in a middle freeway lane that split to an off-ramp (three lanes splitting to two groups of two lanes). In the first, I was taking the left ramp. The car, I think wanting to keep the lane line on my right close, suddenly steered me back to the right and toward the dividing barrier. I was able to overcome it and stay on my planned route but it was close. In the second, there was a car to my right in the right-most lane. I was taking the right exit and used my turn signal to indicate this. As I started to take the exit, turning the wheel to the right, the car forced the wheel back to straight because it thought I was trying to steer into the car to my right (in the next lane, also exiting), and again steered me toward the barrier splitting the ramp from the freeway. I was able to overcome the wheel, but again it was close. In both cases, I think the car is doing what it is designed to do (i.e. nothing is broken) but the design is dangerous. I have talked to the dealer about this problem - they have acknowledged the issue and said a new car would not have this problem. No warning lamps or messages appeared.

This car was marketed as an easy transition from gasoline powered engines, meaning its braking maneuvers should not have been largely different. However the 2021 electric did not come with auto hold which VW later determined should be added for brake safety reasons. In 2022 VW had a software upgrade and as of Sept. 2023 it has yet to be installed for me. However any update was already too late for me. In Nov. 2021 this scenario happened: I pulled up to my garage and realized the car was not aligned with the garage door so (after braking and bringing the car to a full stop) I chose "R" to proceed with the slight correction. I did not touch the accelerator but the car careened backwards down driveway and impaled itself on a large landscape rock (which stopped the descent). I just missed hitting a telephone pole and/or landing crosswise in the street at the bottom of my driveway. The incline was not steep but the backward momentum was great. I could have been severely injured but luckily only the car sustained heavy damage!

The steering wheel controls on our 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 are haptic. That means that if you brush them with your fingers or hand with light pressure, they can activate. When leaving a neighborhood street, I turned the steering wheel approximately 180 degrees to pull out from a parking spot next to the curb. Upon releasing my grip a bit on the steering wheel (to let it rotate back to 'straight') my right thumb grazed the cruise control activation button (which is normally on the left side of the steering wheel). Since I had been using cruise control earlier in the drive, the cruise control resumed and the car accelerated without my providing any pedal input. Luckily I realized what had happened and pushed the brake pedal to cancel cruise control. The cruise control was set to 15 mph. I am thankful it was not set to something higher, like 65 mph. I don't know how fast the car would have accelerated in that case.

Yesterday, April 26th, 2023 the above vehicle was involved in a serious accident, possibly related to the safety recall for the high voltage cell module. My wife was driving the vehicle on her way to work, as she did for the past 2 years. Sometimes she gets coffee for herself and a coworker, so that day she turned into a parking lot of the last MacDonalds before her job. She pulled up to the drive thru lane as she did many times before. She was not distracted by the phone, and her radio was turned off. There was nobody else in her vehicle, and her thought was on the coffee order. As she was pulling up to the 2 vehicles in front of her, something horrible happened in the next 3 or 4 seconds. Her vehicle accelerated suddenly, hit the car in front of her, bounced off to the right, and kept accelerating for the next 50 feet before hitting a semi truck with such a force that the front end of her vehicle is completely obliterated and the semi truck frame was broken. Thankfully, nobody got hurt seriously, and there was no fire. The first question from the Police officer was whether she hit the accelerator pedal by mistake. She responded that she did not hit the accelerator pedal, and does not understand what happened. She was shocked by the sudden fury of her vehicle, and stated that she was unable to stop it. I believe what she is saying, because there was no reason for her to stomp hard on either pedal as she was coasting slowly, and with the vehicle's regenerative braking you only have to tap the brakes gently. If she tapped the wrong pedal by mistake, the acceleration would not be so violent. To do what the vehicle did in such a short distance, the driver would have to stomp forcefully on the pedal and keep it floored all the time. There was no need to do that, and she never even attempted to do such violent acceleration anywhere. There is a real possibility that the vehicle did an unintended full force acceleration caused by defect in the recalled module. GEICO has it

Drive with greater care!" The digital speedometer displayed three dashes through the rest of the trip home. All of the car's features including lane correction were offline. This car's software is not functional enough for the car to be driven safely.

"Access to reliable home charging changes everything! Also, EVs may be fringe now but let's not forget they predate gasoline vehicles. Modern EVs still a lot in common with a Baker Electric. #13· Dec 7, 2023 If your dealer does not handle the tax credit paperwork, then you will not be able to get it. In that case you might ask the dealer to lower the price 2k or 3k to make up for the loss of credit. #14· Dec 7, 2023 You should consider getting an OBD dongle and reviewing the car's degradation. During your test drive I highly recommend you use DCFC to charge it up and pay attention to how it functions. I have a 2021 and it's been a complete joy. My experience is so different than many members of this forum I think I might be crazy. Almost 50,000 miles in and I want to drive it everyday. #17· Dec 9, 2023 I bought a 2021 ID.4 out of state for under 25k to use the tax credit - here's something I posted on Reddit about the experience:"

"Great comparison! I really enjoyed the ID.4, just put down the deposit. I felt comfortable sacrificing some of the flashier features of the Tesla for something that seemed to be more in-line with what fits me and my family's needs."

I had made a post earlier about finally being able to order a custom car cover for the ID4. I had it delivered yesterday and tried it today. If it weren't so annoying it would be funny how bad the car cover fits. It's so bad. 93.9K84vert replied Nov 21, 2021"

"#6· Jun 2, 2021 I have a Dusk Blue Metallic FE in the 0143XX VIN range. Very impressed with the absence of any rattles, squeaks, or thuds on bad pavement. The gaps are very good. The hood is very slightly misaligned out on the driver's side. The paint has a lot of orange peel over most of the car. A VW buddy of mine says it means there's a lot of paint on it. The one paint defect I missed on delivery is a straight line surface paint cut about the length of a single-edged razor blade on the hood, it is surrounded by swirls like somebody thought they could buff it out. It's not awful. I'm annoyed with myself for missing it because I thought I went over every inch of the car when I picked it up! #7· Jun 2, 2021 I hand wash my ID.4 at least weekly. From an assembly POV, I'm not seeing any issues. All panel gaps are even. No rattles whatsoever."

"Volkswagen ID.4 hectorkatz Apr 24, 2024 2021 Pro S with 47K miles on it, 2 tows to the dealership, all recalls done, no resolution Our 2021 ID.4 pro S has been in the shop twice for two months now, with a 10 day respite in between. Twice we experienced electrical system failures and had to tow the car to the dealership. All the recalls have been accomplished including new 12V battery after the first electrical system... 61.6KSpin replied Apr 25, 2024 Parts For Sale"

"Along with the horrendous software issues, ID.4 def doesn't seem to be a production-ready car - feels like a beta tester. This is my 7th "German" car in the past 15 years and, by far, has the worst fit/finish. Had I known all the issues and shortcomings, I'm not sure if I'd still choose ID.4 as what it is now. #17· Nov 30, 2021 On my last visit (60 day) I reported this rear door slight misalignment, the dealer was reluctant to fix it, they said the alignment is "within specs." I was tempted to hammer / pull the door down or something am I too picky? My passenger side also not super perfect but looks better and the rubber trims are well-aligned. #18· Nov 30, 2021"

"Based on reports from quite a few folks here, the VW ID.4 is currently a poor choice because when they break, dealers can't fix quite a few of them, owing to 1) untrained technicians; 2) overloads at the workshops where they have trained technicians; and 3) basic parts being unavailable. To buy an ID.4 is to gamble on your car being stuck in the workshop for multiple weeks or even months. It's not clear other models are better but that doesn't change the fact that, on an absolute basis, the ID.4 isn't a good choice. (MY own ID.4 is headed back to the workshop today for the dealer's third try at a recall repair.) #22· Dec 12, 2023 I can hardly wait until the Ides of March 2024 when so many FE's come off their 3-year lease. The membership here will gain another large boost. And likely a large increase in the same ol' questions. #25· Dec 12, 2023"
