As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention."

Vehicle unintentional cruise activation has happened two times now. The button requires no other 2nd action and at speed low enough to cause unintended forward and sudden acceleration. The button activates easily under turns due to its placements. In addition to this blue cruise gets very confused as sudden vehicles entering the lane in front of it cause severe lane drift due to programming.

"Why I Bought Another F-150 Lightning A couple months ago I was involved in a pretty scary car accident. A driver ran a red light and T-boned my truck while I was driving with my young son. The impact was pretty significant, all side airbags deployed and the truck absorbed the hit pretty well. When the insurance process finally played out and it was totaled, I had a decision to make. I looked at other options and considered switching vehicles. But the more I thought about it, the more it felt like the Lightning had already proven itself to me in the most important way possible. "2023 Ford F-150 Lightning Pro as a home backup generator real world test results. When I was looking for an BEV truck, I selected the Lightning Pro with the expanded 9.6kW Power Pro package. I really like the idea of it being a portable power station with its abundant 120v 20amp 1400w outlets. The Power Pro option was critical to get the extra wattage and bumped up to a bed outlet 240v 30amp 7200w. There was not an extended range available in my price range so, I went with the standard 98 kWh size. So, now the truck is equivalent to a 7200w generator. I chose to make the connection from the truck to the home with a Generac HomeLink Manual Transfer Switch, model 6864, rather than a cut off switch. Primarily, I wanted to be able to just flip a switch to run from the truck and back without interupting any of the circuits. I choose 8 circuits, 1 double pole and 7 single pole breakers. Hot water, Refridgerator, Chest Freezer, Internet, Office Window Air Conditioner, Living Room Smart TV and Kitchen Island (120v Induction Cooktop). The circuits were fully removed from the main panel and put into the transfer switch. Now, I just plug the truck into the generator input, turn on power pro to bed, (turn off truck AC and Lights) and press the Generac button and the cut over is so fast the lights do not even blink. Putting the load back to the grid is just as easy and quick with on button press. This is acutally pretty nice because, I can do this without actually shutting off every thing else to the house for my testing. I did some short tests to see it work and then went for 12 hours and then 24 hours over night. My truck will run 8 circuits for 24 hours on 30% of the battery during the Summer. For comparison, my daily commute Home->Work->Lunch->Work-Home uses 20% of the battery. I am optimistic that I can use the system or any reasonable power outage, mostly in the Spring and Winter here. Now I can't wait for our next severe thunderstorm or snow storm to test for real."

But I’m not loving how the stock 20-inch OEM rims look on it. They feel a bit too flashy or something? Not sure if it’s just me, but I’m second-guessing the vibe. (Above pictures are 20-inch Rims) So I’m looking for some real-world advice from you all: 1. Should I stick with the 20” wheels, or switch down to 18-inch rims? I’ve heard 18s can give a smoother ride thanks to the taller sidewall (less harsh over bumps/potholes), and maybe even a little bump in range/efficiency since they’re often lighter with less rolling resistance. Anyone made the swap and noticed a big difference in ride quality or miles per kWh? (Especially curious about highway driving or daily commuting.) 2. On the practical side I do go for new rims, do tire shops (like Discount Tire, Les Schwab, etc.) usually buy/trade in your old Ford OEM rims? Or give some credit toward new ones? I’ve seen some places do take-offs or trade-ins for decent value, but others treat them as “used” right away and don’t offer much. Any tips on where to get the best deal or how to sell them privately? "2024 Model Y Performance vs 2022 F-150 Lightning SR Lariat — Looking for Real Owner Input Hey everyone, I’m looking for some real-world input from people who actually own or live with these vehicles. A bit about me: I had a 2021 Ford Raptor which I recently sold due to my job becoming in person. I made the decision to switch to EV and currently drive a 2020 Tesla Model 3. With a growing family and being fairly outdoorsy, I need something bigger. My family got used to the back seat space in the truck and really preferred it. I do use the truck to haul car parts and work around the house for a side hustle, but it’s usually not extensive, so in most cases the Model Y would be enough. We do have another smaller SUV, however this vehicle would be my daily driver. On paper the Model Y seems like the obvious choice, but it’s not a truck, these are two very different use cases. I usually keep vehicles for about 2 years, so I know both will depreciate, that’s just the nature of not holding cars, but I’m more concerned about the Lightning dropping faster given it was discontinued in December and dealers are heavily discounting new inventory. I expect the market to be quite volatile. My decision is currently leaning toward the Model Y, and I plan to reevaluate in a year or two to see what happens with the Lightning’s resale and market trends, but I wanted to get feedback from this group as I make my decision. **\*EDIT\*: Adding a few more details to clarify for comments.** * **I currently own a 2020 Model 3 SR so am aware of the changes of moving from an ICE to EV** * **This is for a SR unless a find a ER at an amazing discount it is out of my budget currently** * **My main concern with the Lighting is the discontinuation and potential lack of software updates.
