As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention."

Vehicle unintentional cruise activation has happened two times now. The button requires no other 2nd action and at speed low enough to cause unintended forward and sudden acceleration. The button activates easily under turns due to its placements. In addition to this blue cruise gets very confused as sudden vehicles entering the lane in front of it cause severe lane drift due to programming.

"Why I Bought Another F-150 Lightning A couple months ago I was involved in a pretty scary car accident. A driver ran a red light and T-boned my truck while I was driving with my young son. The impact was pretty significant, all side airbags deployed and the truck absorbed the hit pretty well. When the insurance process finally played out and it was totaled, I had a decision to make. I looked at other options and considered switching vehicles. But the more I thought about it, the more it felt like the Lightning had already proven itself to me in the most important way possible. So I stayed committed and ended up getting another 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum. It is not easy to find them so I actually had this one shipped from Illinois to me in Virginia. I finally recently finished adding on all the accessories that I had on the previous one. A lot of which I found via this reddit. I genuinely love this truck. The performance, the quiet ride, the tech, and now I have experience with how well it protects the people inside. "2023 Ford F-150 Lightning Pro as a home backup generator real world test results. When I was looking for an BEV truck, I selected the Lightning Pro with the expanded 9.6kW Power Pro package. I really like the idea of it being a portable power station with its abundant 120v 20amp 1400w outlets. The Power Pro option was critical to get the extra wattage and bumped up to a bed outlet 240v 30amp 7200w. There was not an extended range available in my price range so, I went with the standard 98 kWh size. So, now the truck is equivalent to a 7200w generator. I chose to make the connection from the truck to the home with a Generac HomeLink Manual Transfer Switch, model 6864, rather than a cut off switch. Primarily, I wanted to be able to just flip a switch to run from the truck and back without interupting any of the circuits. I choose 8 circuits, 1 double pole and 7 single pole breakers. Hot water, Refridgerator, Chest Freezer, Internet, Office Window Air Conditioner, Living Room Smart TV and Kitchen Island (120v Induction Cooktop). The circuits were fully removed from the main panel and put into the transfer switch. Now, I just plug the truck into the generator input, turn on power pro to bed, (turn off truck AC and Lights) and press the Generac button and the cut over is so fast the lights do not even blink. Putting the load back to the grid is just as easy and quick with on button press. This is acutally pretty nice because, I can do this without actually shutting off every thing else to the house for my testing. I did some short tests to see it work and then went for 12 hours and then 24 hours over night. My truck will run 8 circuits for 24 hours on 30% of the battery during the Summer. For comparison, my daily commute Home->Work->Lunch->Work-Home uses 20% of the battery. I am optimistic that I can use the system or any reasonable power outage, mostly in the Spring and Winter here. Now I can't wait for our next severe thunderstorm or snow storm to test for real."
"My experience finding a 2022 XLT ER w/Max Towing and trading it one year later for a 2024 Flash ER w/Max Towing TL;DR: Bought a ‘22 XLT ER Max Tow with 39 miles in March ‘25 for $42k, traded it in March of ‘26 for $39k on a ‘24 Flash ER Max Tow with 180 miles for $49,970. Feels like I found two excellent deals and now I love my lightning even more. (The ‘22 is now on the dealers website again at $42k) I wanted to share my Lightning journey because it ended up being a mix of skepticism, two ridiculous deals, and finally getting the exact spec I wanted. ⸻ How I got here (not a comparison, just context) My first EV was a Kia EV6, and what it really did for me was simple: It made me realize I loved driving an EV. That’s it. From there, I knew I wanted my next vehicle to be: an EV… but a truck I looked at options: • Rivian — super impressive, but too expensive • No CarPlay (dealbreaker for me) • And honestly, I didn’t like the idea of paying that much and then feeling weird about using it like a real truck That’s what pushed me toward the Lightning. ⸻ Then I found a deal I couldn’t ignore I came across a 2022 Lightning XLT ER with Max Tow: • 39 miles (basically new, still in plastic) • $42K purchase price • Sticker was $66,494 From everything I could find at the time, it was the lowest mileage + lowest price ER w/ Max Tow in the country, so I jumped on it. It had a great spec: • ER battery • Max Tow • Pro Power 9.6kW • Spray-in bedliner • Tailgate step And I thought it had everything I wanted. ⸻ The mistake: adaptive cruise I specifically wanted adaptive cruise, and I mistakenly thought the XLT had it. Once I realized it didn’t, that stuck with me. Didn’t ruin the truck — I actually loved it — but it was enough that I started thinking: “If I’m doing this long-term, I want the exact spec I actually want.” ⸻ The 2022 XLT — what actually mattered The truck completely won me over: • It just feels like a real truck • EV torque makes it ridiculously fun • The frunk is insanely useful • Daily driving is effortless And importantly: • It never felt like something I had to baby • I used it like a truck, and it handled it just fine That was a big difference vs how I felt about something like the Rivian at its price point. ⸻ The hunt for my perfect spec After buying the XLT and missing out on the adaptive cruise, I kept researching and dialed in what I wanted: • Flash trim • Cloth seats (I prefer cloth over leather) • ER battery • Max Tow • Adaptive cruise / BlueCruise I also knew i preferred the 18” wheels of the XLT and definitely not the 22’s on the upper spec. To me the best Lightning ride quality is the 18’s, with the 20’s being good enough and the 22’s just way too harsh. I have put a lot of thought about if or when that happens, and since Ford abdicated to anti-environmental stance on EV production, i may pivot to GM's Ultium platform.
