My drive motors keep failing (so far 3 times) and my emergency braking abruptly stops my vehicle when no true danger is present and I’m in complete control of my vehicle. Currently my vehicle has a constant shuddering while braking which doesn’t feel safe because it’s not braking properly. Audi regional and the dealership refuses to take ownership of the issue. Dealer has confirmed issue and replaced drive motors three times. Each time my braking system has gotten worse. The part was replaced each time under warranty but Audi has not confirmed that a fix has been found and corrected. This means it can occur again and abruptly which can absolutely be a safety hazard as it was each time it failed on me.

On 1/18/23, I was driving my 2022 E-tron on a roadway that had no center lane markings. I had my seatbelt and cruise control on. I was traveling at 34mph straight on the right side of the roadway. Suddenly, and without warning, my car took control, drove off the road to the right, and crashed into a tree. I suffered severe injuries, including but not limited to, loss of consciousness, concussion with vertigo, vision problems, neck, back, left arm/hand, and left leg injuries. I continue to suffer from my injuries to this day.

On 3 separate occasions brake pedal went all the way to the floor without stopping the vehicle. Pumping the brake pedal did not help as brake pedal went to the floor each time. After a few panic pumps all of sudden brakes worked as if nothing had happen. This was not a gradual regain of pedal force but full force as if nothing had happen. Did not see any indications on dashboard at the time and none were present after any of the events listed below. Note - Each event was after car sat in parking lot for at least 4 hours. First time was Jan 23, 2023 at ~ 12,300 miles leaving parking in the morning onto main road. Fortunately no traffic. Second event Feb 8 ~12,900 miles leaving parking lot onto main road in the morning. Fortunately no traffic. Third event Feb 9 ~ 12,940 miles leaving business parking lot in the afternoon and was approaching the exiting gate which rose out of the way in time for car not to hit the barrier. Car was taken to Audi Service on Feb 13, 2023 to be evaluated. Audi Service could not duplicate issue and kept the car for 11 days. Audi technical team advised replacing the brake booster module (PN 4KE-614-100-AG-BEF) which was done by Audi Service in South Burlington, VT. Original Brake Booster removed from car was kept at Audi Service.

1. The brakes all of a sudden failed. We were at an elementary school in carpool line - near children- the brake pedal did not work at all, nothing. Warning message to stop driving brake failure. The Audi-Sense alert did at least put on the emergency parking brake before hitting a car ahead of us. Turned off and on, checking if computer vs actual brake issue (see below, computer issues as well). The car lurched forward, then warning, got out of line onto side of parking lot. After turning off and on again, it worked to drive again. Unclear right now if brakes actually gone but European recall Sept 2021 suggests this is really a brake issue and recall exactly as described here (I bought this car three months later, which suggests gross negligence on part of Audi here). 2. Tire sensors do not work, wrong readings on pressure. Safety issue. Similar e-tron recalled, but not mine - again, Audi negligence not properly recalling all impacted vehicles. 3. Additional computer errors. The screen goes black when in use and cannot be accessed while driving. Not a safety issue, but controls and visibility are lost. As I can only list 3 problems here will open a second issue for remaining failures on this 9 month old vehicle. Thank you, this model should not be sold in US. Unsafe.

After dealership service and recall-related calibration work, my vehicle developed multiple safety-related issues that did not exist prior to service. The dealership documented a diagnostic trouble code for “Hybrid/EV Battery Thermal Runaway Detected” (P29FF00), a critical high-voltage battery safety fault. Instead of diagnosing and repairing the root cause, the dealership cleared the fault code and returned the vehicle to me, stating it was operating as designed. Following this, the vehicle has exhibited abnormal and unsafe behavior, including significant and inconsistent loss of driving range, irregular energy consumption, regenerative braking issues, and braking concerns such as squealing, mechanical drag, and rotor heat buildup affecting stopping performance. Additionally, multiple control modules associated with the recall and calibration work are affected, including systems related to driver assistance and vehicle operation. These systems required recalibration, and the vehicle’s behavior changed following this process, raising concerns about improper calibration of safety-critical systems such as lane keeping and stability functions. The dealership’s documentation confirms fault codes were erased without confirmed repair or root cause resolution. No clear diagnostic explanation was provided for the battery fault or related system issues. Audi of America has been notified and has refused further escalation or assistance, directing all responsibility back to the dealership despite unresolved safety concerns. I am concerned the vehicle is operating with unresolved high-voltage battery and system faults that pose a serious safety risk, including potential battery failure, loss of braking performance, and malfunctioning driver assistance systems

I own a 2022 Audi e-tron Sportback that experienced multiple serious issues involving the high-voltage battery system. During service at Audi South Atlanta, the dealership documented diagnostic trouble code P29FF00 – Hybrid/EV Battery Thermal Runaway Detected. This code is related to battery overheating and potential thermal runaway, which is a critical safety condition in electric vehicles. Despite identifying this safety-related fault, the dealership did not perform any repair or replace any components. Instead, they cleared the fault codes and returned the vehicle to me stating it is operating as designed. Prior to and during this issue, the vehicle experienced: •Severe range reduction (approximately 60 miles at 60% charge) •Charging interruptions and warning messages •Regenerative braking malfunction •Abnormal energy consumption •Mechanical drag and braking irregularities These issues are consistent with a high-voltage battery or power system defect. The dealership’s decision to reset the fault code without addressing the underlying cause raises serious safety concerns. A thermal runaway-related fault should not be cleared and ignored, as it may indicate a risk of battery failure or fire. I am concerned that this vehicle may be unsafe to operate and that the defect was not properly diagnosed or repaired.

The contact owns a 2022 Audi E-Tron. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle independently switched to SAFE Mode and failed to properly accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. Additionally, the mileage range was reduced, and the battery recharging time increased. The failure started after the vehicle was repaired under the NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V867000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, but no failure was found with the vehicle. The vehicle was later taken to an independent mechanic who reported that the amperage of the battery had been reduced from 400 amps to 130 amps. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 16,000.

CATASTROPHIC ELECTRICAL FAILURE - SMOKE IN CABIN While driving with passengers, dashboard displayed "ELECTRICAL FAILURE - PULL OVER WHEN SAFE" followed by loud explosive POP and cabin filled with SMOKE. ROOT CAUSE: Prior undisclosed collision damage. Dealer (Morrie's Golden Valley Cadillac) removed front bumper in June 2025 (Repair Order #78683), then sold vehicle as "no accidents" in August 2025. Subsequent inspection revealed cut wiring and improper repairs (Invoice #94609). CURRENT STATUS: Vehicle inoperable 3+ months. Audi corporate technicians have repaired major problem however vehicle still has charging issues that happened right before the catastrophic failure unable to repair. SAFETY CONCERN: Smoke-filled cabin endangered occupants. Potential fire hazard.

The vehicles software system regularly crashes and/or does not load leaving all camera functionality and safety alerts inoperable. I have had the vehicle in to address these concerns 5 times with no resolve from the manufacturer. Even with video evidence they claim the vehicle is functioning as intended. This is in direct violation of FMVSS 111 as the rearview camera is regularly not available. Sometimes the system reboots within seconds and sometimes it takes 10 minutes or more.

The car occasionally does not respond to pushing the pedal to accelerate. The first time it happened, I though it was user error after sitting at a light. Well within the same 30 minutes it happened again entering a carwash. Today I was sitting at a light waiting for it to turn green. Once green, I pushed the accelerator to go and the car would not accelerate. This is the second time in two weeks and approximately fifth time since I purchased the car in October 2023. No dashboard warning prior to this.

Audi issued a recall notice in December 2023 regarding the high voltage battery possibly causing a fire. In the past 15 months since the recall I have not received any correspondence from Audi on a fix. I have checked with my Audi service manager several times and he stated Audi is monitoring the vehicle high voltage modules. I feel 15 months is excessive time for the manufacturer to provide a fix/repair to close the recall. This also affects the ability to trade or sell the car with a unrepaired recall.

I was driving on the interstate freeway in normal conditions when my 2022 Audi E-tron suddenly showed a message "Electrical system malfunction!" and lost all power to the motors. Thankfully I was in the rightmost lane already and I was able to steer and coast over to the shoulder even while pressing the gas pedal had no effect. If I had been in another lane it could have led to a major accident if my car stalled in the middle of a busy freeway. I had the vehicle towed to the local Audi dealer service center, but so far they have not been able to diagnose the problem.

No incident occurred. However, Audi recalled my EV (2022 Audi E-tron) months ago, stating there exists a fire hazard associated with these vehicles. Audi has not provided any effective remedy. The sole advice offered was to refrain from charging the battery beyond 80%. However, Audi has not substantiated the claim that this measure is protective, and it also restricts the performance and intended range of the affected vehicles. I contacted Audi of America and my local Audi dealer, but both entities have been unhelpful and unable to offer any reassurance or scientific data. Battery monitoring software is allegedly scheduled to be released this quarter (originally promised in the final quarter of 2024). This proposed solution appears insufficient. Thermal runaway could potentially lead to a fire without sufficient warning to protect consumers, even with software in place. Clearly, Audi should be compelled to replace the batteries before a consumer sustains an injury or fatalities occur due to thermal runaway and fire. Several incidents of fires involving these vehicles have been reported in the United States and other jurisdictions. Audi has since discontinued using these specific batteries and has access to safer and more efficient alternatives. I urge the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to compel Audi to provide a genuine remedy to this issue as soon as possible to safeguard consumers.

On December 19 and 20, 2023, Audi issued two recalls: one for high-voltage battery modules that may self-discharge, leading to overheating and an increased risk of fire, and another for the 220V/240V charging cable, which can overheat home wiring, posing a serious fire hazard. On September 19, 2024, I took my car to Niello Audi to address these recalls, but they advised me to take the car home despite the significant safety risks. The service representative told me I couldn't receive a replacement charging cable because I did not have the original one; as the second owner, I never received it from the previous owner. He also mentioned that there was no remedy available for the battery issue and to come pick up my car the next day. I'm using an aftermarket charging cable, which the representative warned could increase the risk of fire. But I cannot get the cable required because I do not have the original. I transport my two young children in this car, and the thought of driving an unsafe vehicle is terrifying. On September 20, 2024, I contacted Audi America to file a claim and initiate the buyback process, as there is no safe solution available. I expressed my urgent concerns and requested a loaner car while the buyback is processed, but my request was denied despite stating it clearly was a safety issue. The Audi America representative told me to pick up my car and drive it, even after acknowledging the safety risks. The AEB system engages periodically with any obstacles while at a high speed. Suffered whiplash and anxiety as problems occurs without warning. Vehicle is available for inspection. Unprovoked Braking at high speeds on highway can be dangerous. Dealer has not responded to complaints of the issue on 2-3 service appointments. Dealer states there are no codes and no follow up was given. No previous errors notes vehicle was bought new and we are first owners.

First time in November the sign came on that there was an electrical system failure. We took the car to the shop, in Audi Raleigh and they said that they fixed the issue. Although, we had to wait for an available appointment for over a month. This time, after 3 months, the same sign came on, electrical system failure, plus all wheel drive faiture. While driving to the dealership the car stopped abbraptlly on the highway and we had to call a tow truck. This was scary because the car stopped and just would not move,. Audi knows that all 2022 -tron models have this issue and disregards the safety of the customers.

There is a recall for this vehicle for battery overheating and vehicle catching on fire. Audi is unable to remedy this issue at this time. I notice routinely that the charging wire used to charge this vehicle becomes extra hot during charging. I have discussed this issue with Audi but they claim they cannot help me at this time. The battery malfunctioned and discharged rapidly while it was being shipped in a covered tow truck overnight (moving). The manual resets do not work, and it is very difficult to tow. The battery charge port manual release does not work as advertised in the instruction manual. Directions and labeling are not clear on the manual release. The car completely shuts down and cannot even move it into manual mode to push it. Have made numerous service appointments as it can lose 20-30% charge without even driving. The estimates for mileage are wrong too. The car is advertised as 220. After having driven the car about 12,000 miles, the true range is 180 at best on a full charge.

With less than 32,000 miles and approximately 1.5years of ownership, this brand new 2021 Audi Etron began having major electrical malfunctions. This was first noted as sudden inability to properly accelerate on the highway and an "electrical system malfunction" warning light on the dashboard. It was delivered to the Audi dealership service department where it was diagnosed as needing a brand new rear motor. Within 45 days of this repair being completed I again got the same "electrical system malfunction" warning light. It was taken to another dealership service department. They claimed it was a coolant issue and that the car was fixed. However, the very next day the same "electrical system malfunction" warning light was again alarming. The car was taken to yet another dealership service department where it was diagnosed as needing yet ANOTHER motor. This are major electrical problem in an electric vehicle and could've cause my car to completely die while driving. The vehicle now has a safety recall regarding the home charging cord component. As of now, there is no repair and Audi does not anticipate one available until mid 2024. As such, customers are being told it is only safe to charge your car to 50% volume.

I purchased an Audi eTron 2022 in November 0f 2021. My wife has always loved the brand. Indeed, if you look at your sales records, you’ll find that we’ve purchased a Q5, two Q7s, and most recently an eTron from Audi North Austin. We’ve also always used your store for all the maintenance of our Audis. Approximately 5 months after buying the eTron we started experiencing glitches: -Screen randomly powering off -Random warnings, indicating something or another was not functioning. -The alarm would go off while the car in parked in our home garage. The key FOB was unable to disengage the alarm even if we get into the car and start it. The main issue I want to address is the most disturbing. On approximately 6 occasions, the car would come to an abrupt stop while traveling at about 35-45mph. I contacted Audi North Austin to have these issues looked at. I was given an appointment that was about two months out. In any case, this lea to the first visit to your service department for diagnostic and to address the issues. A couple of the minor issues listed above were fixed. However, we were informed that the abrupt stopping issue was escalated to Audi HQ but no fix was currently available. The service department rep did say, the did a software update and that might address the issue. About two weeks after the car was returned to us. We once again experienced the abrupt stopping again. (FYI, the impact of those stops is equivalent to getting rear-ended) This led to visit two. On this visit I was more reassured than the first visit. I spoke to Edwin and he was very sympathetic to our plight. He even suggested what he thought the problem might be. He mentioned that there is a sensor that runs down the side of the driver’s side and that that sensor may need to be replaced. Unfortunately, Edwin was wrong. Because a few weeks later while traveling about 45-50mph merging onto [XXX]. This particular incident put us closer to death that the previous ones. Sudden and complete power loss while accelerating at stop light into an intersection, causing car to stop in the intersection. Error message briefly flashed on dashboard screen indicating failure of all wheel drive module. Estimated mileage fluctuated from 57 miles to 22 miles back to 50 miles. I turned the vehicle off and on several times, after second restart power was restored and the car drove as normal.

Complete electrical system had a complete and unintended shut down making the vehicle totally inoperable for minute 15 seconds until electric (EV) power to the vehicle was restored. Occurred at a red light stop, if the power had failed while I was driving my 2022 Audi eTRON EV on Almaden Expressway, San JOse, CA would have had the potential to be catastrophic. Received a warning on the dashboard approximately 30 seconds prior to the unintended power failure to the vehicle indicating' "Malfunction of Driver Assistance". Vehicle also had experienced numerous false warning of traveling in the wrong direction on a one way road. This was incorrect as the warning indicated a street I was not driving on, that is approx. 85 miles away. This has happened approximately 4x prior to the unintended power disruption incident.

Upon the vehicle resting at a stop, for longer than 30 seconds, the vehicle will no longer accelerate. “SAFE” warning is shown by the instrument cluster. "Lowest ever (but not bad) efficiency score I've just got my lowest ever efficiency score driving my 2022 Audi e-tron 55 on a long journey. I drove a total of 155 miles with a two-hour break at the mid point. (So 2 battery conditioning sessions) I started the journey on 97% battery, and when I got home I had 16% left. I drove at the speed limit everywhere, so in a 70 I was doing 70, 60 I was doing 60, etc. I drove in comfort mode with S power, with a fairly heavy right foot. It was night time the whole journey. I had my matrix LED lights on, heating at 23 degrees with the blower on 3, heated seats on for both front passengers, and we averaged an outside temperature of -2c. (It’s quite nippy in the UK currently🇬🇧) Oddly enough in the car it said I got 2.4, but in the app is and I got 2.3? Either way that’s 200 miles in the freezing cold, pitch black, Driving at 70mph in sport performance with comfort suspension, CarPlay and the music on , both heated seats on, temperature up high and so on. I just thought I’d post this for people that are concerned about the range on the e tron 55, I see so many posts about it all being doom and gloom and about how it can only get 160 miles in the winter in the UK, As you can see that really is not the case in the real world. If I had popped this in efficiency , and limited to 60mph when possible I probably could’ve added an extra 10-15% of this. This journey cost me about £4.50 😁"

"Real World Roadtrip Range: Audi E-Tron vs. Rivian R1T TAKEAWAY: * Can't decide between a Large vs. Max pack? **Get a large.** * Standard+ vs. Large? Unless you're driving to remote locations often, the **standard+** is good enough, especially once NACS opens for more peace of mind. * Only get a Max if you tow far and often. Nerd post: I'm the owner of an R1T (Quad Large 20") and a 2019 Audi E-Tron Prestige. I often visit family in Springfield, OR from Auburn, WA (south Seattle). This trip is 266 miles one way, requiring a charging stop for both vehicles. The max highway range for the Audi is about 190 miles. In the Rivian it's 250 to 270 miles depending on wind/weather (20" wheels on the Rivian). Due to the excellent charging curve of the Audi, its roadtrip capabilities are actually pretty great for a vehicle with such low max range. The Rivian however, has a more traditional charging curve. Because the I-5 corridor has very reliable and plentiful stations, I have no concern over charging stations being down. **The question is: which vehicle is best to drive for this roadtrip? Do I go with more range in the Rivian, or drive the Audi instead?** So I did some math charing at L3 stations (150 kWh+): * In 25 minutes I gain: * 140 miles in the Audi * 135 miles in the Rivian * In 35 minutes I gain: * 172 miles in the Audi * 176 miles in the Rivian * For a 90% battery charge (5-95%) it takes: * 45 minutes in the Audi (4.44 miles per minute) * 85 minutes in the Rivian (3.05 miles per minute) That was surprising to me. The numbers above are optimal for the Rivian when using a 350kWh capable station. A 150 kWh would add \~10 minutes total. ABRP says this 267 mile trip (current traffic and weather conditions) would take: * 4 hr 40 min in the Audi incl. a 29 minute charge * 4 hr 30 min in the Rivian incl. a 19 min charge * Both vehicles start at 100% and arrive at destination with 10% remaining. **My point of this is: I think most of us feel like we need a minimum of 300 real world miles in our EVs. "Audi ruined my credit over an issue they caused and refused to take responsibility **Audi San Jose ruined my credit over a $695 tail light and violated fair credit reporting laws** This review is about my 2022 Audi lease return and the fallout caused by Audi San Jose. For context: I’ve been a loyal Audi customer for over 15 years. I’ve bought four cars from this dealership for hundreds of thousands of dollars and have personally recommended them to at least 10 friends. That’s how much trust I had in them. When I returned my 2022 Audi, the dealership told me to cancel the independent lease inspection that I had previously scheduled and bring the car directly to them because they would “handle everything” on the same day. I was at the dealership signing and driving away in my new 2024 Audi e-tron GT, believing—based on what they told me—that the lease return was fully taken care of. Seven months later, out of nowhere, Audi Financial claimed there was a problem with the lease return: a $695 charge for a cracked tail light — something they told me would be handled and disclosed on the same day. Audi never contacted me during those seven months. No notice. No discussion. No attempt to resolve anything before it escalated. I immediately disputed the charge in writing through the proper channels with documentation. Despite that, the charge was pushed through anyway and reported in a way that wrecked my credit. Since then, I have spent months—now over a year—trying to get this resolved. All I am asking is that Audi Financial properly report the facts back to the credit bureaus. They have refused to do so. The impact: my credit score went from \~820 to \~590 over this single $695 issue — a problem that exists only because I followed Audi San Jose’s instructions and trusted them to handle the return properly. To make matters worse, Audi San Jose has never acknowledged that they told me to cancel the inspection in the first place, even though that instruction is what put me in this position. Based on how this was handled — reporting a disputed charge, ignoring the dispute, refusing to correct the reporting, and causing massive credit damage without any meaningful attempt to resolve it — Audi violated fair credit reporting laws and basic consumer protection standards and I will be pursuing this further with consumer protection organizations. "Audi told me to go swivel over recalls We got swept into the recall for both the battery and charging cable. Limiting us to 80% and 160 miles of range, and charging at a maximum 20amps on an 80k vehicle is an issue. Even worse, the dealer won’t take it as a trade in because of the recall. And because of the same recall we are looking at a depriated value of 32k, 40k below where a 18 month old vehicle should be (setting aside the crazy depreciation these cars have gone through. We charge in the garage, it’s our only current choice. We asked for a replacement battery or car, as waiting in this limited state through Q4 is unacceptable. I use the car for work, long distance driving involved 5200 miles in Feb. Well we got our answer yesterday. Be need to go make a baby with ourselves."

I have had problems with the myaudi app connection for a couple of weeks now. Dealer advised privacy settings must be off. They are off. I switched on then off again in the mmi in the car and the app connected, but lost it again a few hours later.
